<b>How can we reconcile between these two aayahs (interpretation of the meanings): “Verily, Allaah forgives not that partners should be set up with Him (in worship), but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He wills” [al-Nisa’ 4:48] and “And verily, I am indeed forgiving to him who repents, believes (in My Oneness, and associates none in worship with Me) and does righteous good deeds, and then remains constant in doing them (till his death)” [Ta-Ha 20:82] Is there any contradiction between them? </b>

<b>Answer : </b>

Praise be to Allaah. There is no contradiction between them. The first aayah refers to one who dies in shirk (associating others with Allaah) without having repented from it. He will not be forgiven and his abode will be Hell, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meanings): “Verily, whosoever sets up partners (in worship) with Allaah, then Allaah has forbidden Paradise to him, and the Fire will be his abode. And for the Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrongdoers) there are no helpers” [al-Maa'idah 5:72] “But if they had joined in worship others with Allaah, all that they used to do would have been of no benefit to them” [al-An’aam 6:88] And there are many similar aayahs. The second aayah – “And verily, I am indeed forgiving to him who repents, believes (in My Oneness, and associates none in worship with Me) and does righteous good deeds, and then remains constant in doing them (till his death)” [Ta-Ha 20:82 – interpretation of the meaning] – refers to those who repent. Similarly Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Say: O ‘Ibaadi (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allaah, verily, Allaah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft‑Forgiving, Most Merciful” [al-Zumar 39:53] The scholars are agreed that this verse refers to those who have repented. And Allaah is the Source of strength.

Question :

<b>Someone has asked me this question (she is about to </b>

become a muslimah). Her statement: 'A lot of others will never meet a Muslim in person. Will they be held responsible for their ignorance? What exactly does this mean: "After the revelation of the Quran who ever receives this message & does not abide by it is a non-believer"?

i. Who is considered to have received the message?

ii. Isn't it possible for people to have not received the message even though the Quran is in existence?'

Answer :

Praise be to Allaah.

It is part of the justice of Allaah that He does not punish any people until He has first sent a warning to them and unless there is evidence against them. Allaah does not treat anybody unfairly. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “… And We never punish until We have sent a Messenger (to give warning).” [al-Israa’ 17:15].

In his tafseer (commentary) on this aayah, Ibn Katheer (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “These words, ‘…And We never punish until We have sent a Messenger (to give warning)’ tell us of the justice of Allaah, may He be exalted, and that He does not punish anyone until after He has established evidence against him by sending a Messenger to him. This is like the aayat (interpretation of the meaning): ‘… Every time a group is cast therein [into Hell], its keeper will ask, “Did no warner come to you?” They will say, “Yes indeed; a warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: ‘Allaah never sent down anything (of revelation), you are only in great error.’”’ [al-Mulk 67:8] and: ‘And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups, till, when they reach it, the gates thereof will be opened (suddenly like a prison at the arrival of its prisoners). And its keepers will say, “Did not the Messengers come to you from yourselves, - reciting to you the Verses of your Lord, and warning you of the Meeting of this Day of yours?” They will say: “Yes, but the Word of torment has been justified against the disbelievers!”’ [al-Zumar 39:71]…”

A person who has never heard of Islam or the Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and who has never heard the message in its correct and true form, will not be punished by Allaah if he dies in a state of kufr (disbelief). If it were asked what his fate will be, the answer will be that Allaah will test him on the Day of Resurrection: if he obeys, he will enter Paradise and if he disobeys he will enter Hell. The evidence (daleel) for this is the hadeeth of al-Aswad ibn Saree’, who reported that the Prophet of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There are four (who will protest) to Allaah on the Day of Resurrection: the deaf man who never heard anything, the insane man, the very old man, and the man who died during the fatrah (the interval between the time of ‘Eesaa (Jesus, upon whom be peace) and the time of Muhammad SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)). The deaf man will say, ‘O Lord, Islam came but I never heard anything.’ The insane man will say, ‘O Lord, Islam came but the children ran after me and threw stones at me.’ The very old man will say, ‘O Lord, Islam came but I did not understand anything.’ The man who died during the fatrah will say, ‘O Lord, no Messenger from You came to me.’ He will accept their promises of obedience, then word will be sent to them to enter the Fire. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, if they enter it, it will be cool and safe for them.”

According to another report, he said: “Whoever enters it, it will be cool and safe for him, and whoever does not enter it will be dragged to it.” (The hadeeth was reported by Imaam Ahmad and Ibn Hibbaan, and deemed saheeh by al-Albaani, Saheeh al-Jaami’, 881).

Everyone who hears the message of Islam in a sound and correct form (and rejects it), will have evidence aginst him. Whoever dies without having heard the message, or having heard it in a distorted form, then his case is in the hands of Allaah. Allaah knows best about His creation, and He will never treat anyone unfairly. And Allaah is All-Seer of His slaves.

الحمد لله رب العالمين والصلاة والسلام علي سيدنا ونبينا وقدوتنا النبى الخاتم محمد بن عبد الله وعلى آله وصحبه أجمعين.

أوجه الخطاب هذه المرة لأخواتى فى الله فقط حيث أن الموضوع يخصهن. أود هنا أن أطرح سؤالا هاما: لماذا تحرص المرأة على الالتزام التام بمواعيد عملها وعدم التأخير علاوة على أنها تقبل تماما بدون أى تبرم أن يوجه لها رئيسها فى العمل الأوامر والنواهى التى تعمل على تنفيذها فورا حرصا منها على اتقاء الجزاء وطلبا للمكافأة، فى حين ترى تلبية طلبات الزوج والقيام بواجباتها فيه إقلال من شأنها أو إهانة لها وقهر لحريتها وعدم احترام لآدميتها؟ لماذا تطيع الرئيس فى عدم مغادرة مكان العمل طوال ساعات العمل (8 أو 6 ساعات) فى حين تعتبر أن منع زوجها لها من الخروج لأى سبب من الأسباب أثناء وجوده فى المنزل أو عدم وجوده بأن هذا لا يليق بها كنصف المجتمع وأنها إنسانة لها حقوق؟ لماذا تقبل المضايقات والمناقشات ليس فقط من المدير أو المديرة ولكن أيضا من زميل أو زميلة ساعية جاهدة أن تبدو فى أفضل صورة من حيث السلوك والشخصية والتعامل مع الخلافات فى حين لا تقبل ذلك من الزوج بل وتحرص ألا تكف عن المناقشة خوفا من أن تبدو الطرف الأضعف؟ ألا تتذكرين قول الله سبحانه وتعالى " وقل لعبادى يقولوا التى هى أحسن إن الشيطان ينزغ بينهم إن الشيطان كان للإنسان عدوا مبينا" الإسراء 53 كما أن الكلمة الطيبة صدقة ومن أولى بالكلمة الطيبة من الزوج علاوة على قول الرسول عليه الصلاة والسلام "أقربكم منى مجالسا يوم القيامة أحاسنكم أخلاقا" . لماذا وقد قال الله سبحانه وتعالى فى كتابه الكريم "وخلق لكم من أنفسكم أزواجا لتسكنوا إليها وجعل بينكم مودة ورحمة " الروم 21 لماذا ترى دورها الحقيقى الذى من الله به عليها والذى يعدل الجهاد كما جاء فى حديث رسولنا الكريم خرج البيهقي عن أسماء بنت يزيد الأنصارية "أنها أتت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وهو بين أصحابه فقالت: بأبي أنت وأمي إني وافدة النساء إليك، وأعلم نفسي - لك الفداء - أنه ما من امرأة كائنة في شرق ولا غرب سمعت بمخرجي هذا إلا وهي على مثل رأيي، إن الله بعثك بالحق إلى الرجال والنساء فآمنا بك وبإلهك الذي أرسلك، وإنا معشر النساء محصورات مقصورات، قواعد بيوتكم، ومقضى شهواتكم، وحاملات أولادكم، وإنكم معاشر الرجال فضلتم علينا بالجمعة والجماعات، وعيادة المرضى، وشهود الجنائز، والحج بعد الحج، وأفضل من ذلك الجهاد في سبيل الله، وإن الرجل منكم إذا خرج حاجا أو معتمرا أو مرابطا حفظنا لكم أموالكم، وغزلنا لكم أثوابكم، وربينا لكم أموالكم، فما نشارككم في الأجر يا رسول الله؟ فالتفت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إلى أصحابه بوجهه كله ثم قال: هل سمعتم مقالة امرأة قط أحسن من مساءلتها في أمر دينها من هذه؟ فقالوا يا رسول الله ما ظننا أن امرأة تهتدي إلى مثل هذا؟ فالتفت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إليها ثم قال لها: انصرفي أيتها المرأة وأعلمي من خلفك من النساء أن حسن تبعل إحداكن لزوجها، وطلبها مرضاته، واتباعها موافقته، يعدل ذلك كله. فأدبرت المرأة وهي تهلل وتكبر استبشارا". وأخرج البيهقي عن أنس قال: جاء النساء إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقلن: "يا رسول الله ذهب الرجال بالفضل بالجهاد في سبيل الله، أفما لنا عمل ندرك به عمل المجاهدين في سبيل الله؟ قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: مهنة إحداكن في بيتها تدرك عمل المجاهدين في سبيل الله". وروي عن أسماء بنت يزيد الأشهلية أنها أتت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقالت: يا رسول الله! إنا معشر النساء محصورات مقصورات، قواعد بيوتكم وحوامل أولادكم، فهل نشارككم في الأجر؟ فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: (نعم إذا أحسنتن تبعل أزواجكن وطلبتن مرضاتهم).

على أنه شئ لا يليق بها وبالتلى تسعى لاختيار ما يليق بها. أخواتى فى الله إن من أكثر المشاكل شيوعا بيننا جميعا وأنا هنا أذكر نفسى وأذكركم أكثر من مجرد النصيحة أن نختار نوعية الطاعة التى نرتاح إليها أو نسعد بها، أخواتى إن الله سبحانه وتعالى هو أحق بنا منا وبالتالى إن أهم الطاعات تلك التى لا يطلع عليها إلا الله هذه هى المحك وهى الخالية ان شاء الله من الرياء. يجب أن نسعى جميعا جاهدين أن نتجنب مشكلة تفضيل المفضل على الأفضل بمعنى السعى فى أبواب الخير ولكن مع ترك الأولويات بمعنى على سبيل المثال وكلنا يعلم قصة المرأة التى خرج زوجها فى إحدى الغزوات ولم تخرج من بيتها لزيارة والدها المريض وقد بشرها الرسول عليه الصلاة والسلام بدخول أبوها الجنة عند وفاته لعدم خروجها من البيت بدون إذن زوجها. نحن هنا لا نقول ألا تخرج المرأة لدرس دينى أو صلاة فى المسجد نحن فقط نناقش نقطة استياء البعض وليس الكل طبعا من ضرورة الاستئذان من الزوج. إن هذا لا يشكل بأى حالة من الأحوال أى نوع من القهر أو الإذلال ولكنه طاعة لله ولله المثل الأعلى كما سقنا عدم ترك مكان العمل خلال ساعات العمل مثلا على ذلك. وبالتالى لماذا ترضين ببذل الجهد فى سبيل تحصيل الأقل فى حين أن لله سبحانه وتعالى من عليك بما تهفو إليه كل نفس بمجرد قيامك بواجباتك العادية ألا ترين ذلك معى أختى الكريمة؟

يمكن أن تتساءل إحدى الأخوات وماذا عن الزوج ماذا سيقدم فى المقابل؟ أقول لها ابدئى بنفسك وابتغى فيما تقومين به وجه الله الكريم، وأعنى بذلك حتى إعداد الطعام والحديث مع الزوج أو احتماله وقت ثورته (يمكن قراءة آية الكرسى عند حدوث أية مشادة وعدم الرد بإذن الله تخزين كيد للشيطان) حيث أنه بمجرد تغيير النية لله سبحانه فى كل شئ تفوزين عندئذ برضا الخالق سبحانه وبركة العمل علاوة على توفيقه فى كل شئ وسترين النتيجة المؤكدة بإذن الله تعالى.

وأخيرا أسأل الله أن يوفق كل الأزواج والزوجات إلى كل ما يحب ويرضى وإلى طاعته وينزل المودة والرحمة بينهم البعض ويرزقنا رضاه اللهم آمين.

وأن يتقبل منا سائر عملنا خالصا لوجهه الكريم والحمد لله الذى هدانا لهذا وما كنا لنتهدى لولا أن هدانا الله ونصلى ونسلم على أفضل مبعوث للعالمين سيدنا ونبينا محمد ابن عبد الله وعلى آله وأصحابه ومن تبعه باحسان إلى يوم الدين.

JEDDAH, 23 February 2004 — Over 14,000 Britons have embraced Islam, according to the UK’s Sunday Times.

Citing the first authoritative study of the phenomenon, the paper said that they had done so because of disillusionment with Western values,

Some of Britain’s top landowners, celebrities and the offspring of senior Establishment figures have embraced Islam.

The trend is being encouraged by Muslim leaders who are convinced that the conversion of prominent figures will help protect a community stigmatized by terrorism and fundamentalism.

Zaki Badawi, chairman of the Imams and Mosques Council, said: “The community has been unfairly targeted and these developments encourage it in a time of difficulty.”

Meanwhile, the Muslim Council of Britain has co-opted Joe Ahmed-Dobson, son of Frank Dobson, the former Labor health secretary, to chair its regeneration committee.

The study by Yahya (formerly Jonathan) Birt, son of Lord Birt, former director-general of the BBC, provides the first reliable data on the sensitive subject of the movement of Christians into Islam. He uses a breakdown of the latest census figures to conclude that there are now 14,200 white converts in Britain.

Speaking publicly for the first time about his faith, Birt, whose doctorate at Oxford University is on young British Muslims, argued that an inspirational figure, similar to the American convert Malcolm X for Afro-Caribbeans, would first have to emerge if the next stage, a mass conversion among white Britons, were to happen.

“You need great transitional figures to translate something alien (like Islam) into the vernacular,” he said. “The image of Islam projected by political Islamic movements is not very attractive.”

Initially, Birt said, he had no coherent reasons for converting, but: “In the longer term, I think it was the overall profundity, balance, coherence and spirituality of the Muslim way of life which convinced me.”

The faith has made inroads into the Establishment. It emerged this weekend that the great-granddaughter of a British prime minister has converted. Emma Clark, whose ancestor, the Liberal Prime Minister Herbert Asquith, took Britain into the First World War, said: “We’re all the rage; I hope it’s not a passing fashion.”

Clark, who helped design an Islamic garden for the Prince of Wales at Highgrove, his Gloucestershire home, is now helping create a similar garden for a mosque in Woking, Surrey, on the site of a car park.

Many converts have been inspired by the writings of Charles Le Gai Eaton, a former Foreign Office diplomat. Eaton, author of ‘Islam and the Destiny of Man,’ said: “I have received letters from people who are put off by the wishy-washy standards of contemporary Christianity and they are looking for a religion which does not compromise too much with the modern world.”

Others have come to Islam through love or marriage. Kristiane Backer, a former friend of the cricketer Imran Khan, said she was introduced to the religion by him. She had shrunk from speaking publicly about Islam before because of fears it might affect her work prospects.

Some prominent converts are even more wary. The Earl of Yarborough, 40, who owns a 28,000-acre estate in Lincolnshire, declined to discuss anything about his faith. “I have nothing to say to you,” said Yarborough, who has apparently taken the name Abdul Mateen.

Muslim leaders are harnessing modern campaigning methods to promote their faith. Groups have sprung up on the Internet publishing “trophy lists” of white converts. The state-funded school in London established by Yusuf Islam, formerly the singer Cat Stevens, has turned to Premiership footballers to provide role models. Sources close to the school say converts including Nicolas Anelka, the Manchester City striker, and Omer “Freddie” Kanoute, of Tottenham Hotspur, have made visits.

Fresh evidence came this weekend that Islam has received formal acceptance at the heart of the Establishment.

The Queen has approved arrangements to allow Muslim staff at Buckingham Palace time off to attend Friday prayers at a mosque: a member of staff in the finance department is the first to take advantage of it.

As salamu aleykum

I was just curious, is it wrong if a wife asks her husband not to get a 2nd wife because it will affect her deeply aswell their relationship? I'm not married, but I just wanna know coz I wanted to write in the contract that he wouldnt engage himself into polygomy. I know, I have NO RIGHT to make whats halal, haram.

But, I am a child who's father had 2 wives and it affect me deeply when he was thousans of miles away from me and my family so he could be with his other wife. Back and forth, back and forth. I'm just thinking on how my kids (inshAllah if Allah wills me to have any) will feel knowing their father is not there for them 24/7. And me knowing that my hub whom I love, is sharing the bed with another person :mad: . Subhanallah, I wish I wasn't selfish. I want this selfishness to end, but... Sometimes we act in such a way. Anyway, plz answer my question. Bcoz I... I don't want to make whats halal, haram.

Hello everyone,

this is my first time on this forum... i have browsed through it and have thoroughly enjoyed it as it has answered a lot of questions for me.

My main query however is, I am a sound beleiver of Allah and Prophet Mohamed (PBUH) and truly love my religion and would love to spread it. How however, i am not sure.

What can i do to spread the true meaning of Islam and the love of Allah and the beleif in Prophet Mohamed's (PBUH) message.

Possibly I missed this. Is the Islamic God the same God Christians pray to? (to Christians, known as the God of Abraham)

I understand the major differences in beliefs between the Quran and Bible, but are the Gods themselves one in the same?
