Tourists targeted in deadly Cairo blast
Posted by: Muslimah - 04-07-2005, 09:16 PM - Forum: Current Affairs - No Replies

http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/06F...ACE09FEDEB1.htm

Thursday 07 April 2005, 21:06 Makka Time, 18:06 GMT

The attack took place close to Cairo's famed al-Azhar Mosque

A bomb has exploded in a Cairo tourist bazaar, killing four people, among them a US citizen and a French national, and wounding 18 others, Greater Cairo's security director said.

An earlier Egyptian Interior Ministry statement said the wounded - four French, three Americans, an Italian, a Turk and nine Egyptians - were taken to hospital where the French woman died.

A US official said in Washington at least three Americans were injured in the attack.

Police sources said a man on a motorbike threw the bomb into the busy tourist area in the centre of the Egyptian capital but the subsequent ministry statement made no mention of what caused the blast.

One witness said it appeared a man on a motorcycle set off a bomb in the middle of a group of foreigners.

'Horrible sound'

Rabab Rifaat, an Egyptian woman who was shopping in a store several metres from the blast, said the explosion appeared to have been caused by a man who was either carrying a bomb or had it on his motorcycle.

She said she heard "a boom, a horrible sound, very loud. Everyone started running", and that she then saw a decapitated head flying through the air.

Egyptian police cordon off the

site of Thursday's deadly blast

She said she saw six or seven bodies on the ground, some of them foreign-looking, but it was unclear if they were dead or wounded.

A number of tourist bazaars surround al-Azhar, one of the most prestigious Islamic institutions in the Sunni Muslim world, in Cairo's old city.

Egypt has largely seen calm since it suppressed a fierce campaign of violence by armed Muslim groups seeking to overthrow the government in the 1990s.

Saudi State Executed 6 Somalis Outside The Law

Saudi State Executed 6 Somalis Outside The Law

The Saudi Kingdom of Saudi Arabia brutally slaughtered like sheep six young Somali men without due process of law in the port city of Jeddah last Friday of April first 2005. The Interior ministry said that the Somalis were caught while in the process of robbery and piracy in which they wanted to seize a Taxi but the Saudi government had failed to produce any hard evidence in this regard or allow the young Somali men to have access to legal representation.

It is not clear what legal procedures or justice system the Saudis had applied because in accordance with Islam, you cannot kill people without due process of law and you cannot certainly execute people on unproven and dubious grounds. In the cases of robbery etc, the death penalty does not apply on Islamic jurisprudence. So it will be interesting to know what justice systems the Saudi state had applied to finish off the young Somalis.

Somalis at home and around the globe were saddened and dismayed by the cruel and heartless action taken by the Saudi state against 6 Somali men who were virtually refugees in Saudi Arabia.

To conclude, the Saudi state must give believable explanations as to why they executed the 6 Somali youths without fair and open trial. Similarly, the Saudis must alter their aggressive and merciless policies against the Somali people who happen to be in their country for whatever reason otherwise relations between the two peoples and nations will be severely damaged. This does not mean that the law should be overlooked but the manner in which the Saudi police and the security apparatus behave and deal with foreigners is most barbaric, uncivilised and utterly inhumane to say the least.

If I were the president of Somalia, I would have severed all relations with the Saudi government until they apologised and changed their bad treatments against the Somali people. The Saudis must understand the values of human dignity, the importance of God given life and the sacrosanct of God's justice.

  Too Tired To Pray?
Posted by: mohsie - 04-06-2005, 08:35 PM - Forum: Islam - Replies (5)

How many times have you said, or thought the words "I am too tired right now. I will relax a bit, then I will pray in a little while" when you have heard the adhan? Is that really YOU saying that or are you voicing the words that Shaitaan just whispered in your ear?

In the morning, when we are LEAST tired, we only have to pray a short Fajr prayer of two rakaas. the rest of the morning, we are not expected to be so tired, hence no obligatory prayer throughout the morning. At lunch time, its time to take a break from all the morning's work... so you pray Dhuhr... which relaxes you enough to last you the afternoon. Just when you finish work, feeling a little tired and stressed from the day's work, its time for Asr prayer. So you pray Asr. Then you go home... you are probably tired from your journey home... and guess what?? When you get home, there is another relaxing prayer waiting for you! SUBHANALLAH! Then finally, just before going to bed, when you need to be completely relaxed, you got a nice and long Isha prayer... along with the "waajib" Witr prayer to completely remove every ounce of tiredness from your body... and to get you relaxed enough to have a nice, comfortable sleep.

So, you still think you are too tired to pray? REALLY??? Maybe you are tired coz you have NOT prayed! So STOP listening to Shaitaan and making silly excuses that you are too tired to pray... Go and pray when you hear the adhan, and see how the prayer works like magic to get rid of your tiredness...

  Laughter and jokes

Bismillah

as salam alykom

I came accross this hadeeth today and felt I really wanted to share it with my brothers and sisters here.

Narrated Abi Horaira that the Messenger salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam said:"One whose amount of laughter increased will be taken lightly, one whose amount of jokes increases looses his awe, one whose kidding increased looses his respect among people, one who drinks water first thing in the morning his strength decreases, one whose amount of talking increased his falter concurrently increases, one whose falter increases his sins increases and one whose sins increased hell would be better for him" (reported by Tabarani)

Assalam alliekum sisters and brothers

I have a question regarding death. Hope you can help me.

Now when Christians and Jews die do they go to heaven or hell. (I am not quiet sure if that is what Islam calls it.) I am a new Muslim and just trying to find answers. I am asking this as they beleive in God but not Islam which is the way of life.

Also I am not quiet sure about this so bare with me. I heard when Allah comes to raise the living and the dead we all go to heaven? Please explain this to me and any technical terms that I have incorrect.

It is much apprieciated.

Wassalam

  The 4 wives
Posted by: al-tawheed - 04-02-2005, 04:55 PM - Forum: Islam - Replies (2)

Assalam alaykum warahmatullah wabarakaat brothers and sisters

I found this story off the internet, its interesting, please read it and see what you think

There was a rich merchant who had 4 wives. He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with rich robes and treated her to delicacies. He took great care of her and gave her nothing but the best.

He also loved the 3rd wife very much. He's very proud of her and always wanted to show off her to his friends. However, the merchant is always in great fear that she might run away with some other men.

He too, loved his 2nd wife. She is a very considerate person, always patient and in fact is the merchant's confidante. Whenever the merchant faced some problems, he always turned to his 2nd wife and she would always help him out and tide him through difficult times.

Now, the merchant's 1st wife is a very loyal partner and has made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and business as well as taking care of the household. However, the merchant did not love the first wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her.

One day, the merchant fell ill. Before long, he knew that he was going to die soon. He thought of his luxurious life and told himself, "Now I have 4 wives with me. But when I die, I'll be alone. How lonely I'll be!"

Thus, he asked the 4th wife, "I loved you most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No way!" replied the 4th wife and she walked away without another word.

The answer cut like a sharp knife right into the merchant's heart. The sad merchant then asked the 3rd wife, "I have loved you so much for all my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No!" replied the 3rd wife. "Life is so good over here! I'm going to remarry when you die!" The merchant's heart sank and turned cold.

He then asked the 2nd wife, "I always turned to you for help and you've always helped me out. Now I need your help again. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?" "I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!" replied the 2nd wife. "At the very most, I can only send you to your grave." The answer came like a bolt of thunder and the merchant was devastated.

Then a voice called out : "I'll leave with you. I'll follow you no matter where you go." The merchant looked up and there was his first wife. She was so skinny, almost like she suffered from malnutrition. Greatly grieved, the merchant said, "I should have taken much better care of you while I could have !"

Actually, we all have 4 wives in our lives

a. The 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it'll leave us when we die.

b. Our 3rd wife ? Our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, they all go to others.

c. The 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter how close they had been there for us when we're alive, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.

d. The 1st wife is in fact our soul, often neglected in our pursuit of material, wealth and sensual pleasure.

Guess what? It is actually the only thing that follows us wherever we go. Perhaps it's a good idea to cultivate and strengthen it now rather than to wait until we're on our deathbed to lament
