Can a Muslim Girl Uncover infront of her - NaSra - 04-12-2005
Asalamalaikum
I know that a Muslim father-in- law can see the wife of his Son without a hijab. The Mother-in-law can also hug and shacke hands with the Daughter's Husband (mothers son-in-law). It won't nullify their wudu, right.
What if my father-in-law is a nonmuslim? Knowing that we have to cover ourselves from non-muslim women, kind of answers my own question but I am not sure.

Only one thought for now, a non-Muslim man we can never marry as being a Muslim woman, so should we not cover in his presence?

I have done a bit of searching but unfortunately I haven't come across anything that answers my question so far.

We can never marry our father in laws whether they are Muslim or non Muslim even if our husbands pass away. That’s possibly why we don't have to cover in front of our father in laws. I'm wondering whether the same rule would apply to a non Muslim father in law? I have a strong feeling that we should definitely cover from non Muslim father in laws. I share your strong feeling Intuition for not covering.
See for example a non Muslim can not be the wali of a Muslim girl even if he was her father, brother...etc. But if we like measure the situation against that u cannt uncover in front of a non Muslim woman, then it is even more likely to apply this on a man. In such case he will be just a non Muslim man regardless of the family situation. And yes we can uncover in front of a father in law, because by virtue of the marriage he becomes a permenant Mahram.

I searched for a fatwa on "Ask-Imam.com", searching to see if anybody had asked this question before. Not so lucky
I think the best thing that we should do (or let me just the best thng I would do is listen to our own selves our ==> (Intuition, soul, you know your instinct, the feeling that tells you that something is wrong or right). It's amazing how much we can learn from our own selves. Remember how Rasululah said, if you don't feel shame do as you please, and something along the line " Leave what makes you doubt".
I was just wondering if there is a fatwa out there somewhere.......

Better to be safe than sorry, in otherwords, whilst you are searching for a definate fatwa - take the safest option and cover up.
