  Blast hits Lebanese resort
Posted by: Muslimah - 04-02-2005, 02:44 PM - Forum: Current Affairs - No Replies

http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/4D5...AE0E417EACD.htm

A bomb has severely damaged a shopping and residential centre in a mountain resort northeast of Beirut, lightly injuring seven people, police and witnesses said.

Several other people were treated at the scene on Friday and released. The injured included an American and a Kuwaiti national, police said.

Aljazeera said the blast occurred in the town of Brummana that overlooks the capital and the Mediterranean coastline.

The explosion came as the country was engulfed in its worst political crisis in years.

Residents reported hearing an explosion at about 9.45pm (1845GMT) on Friday, targeting the Rizq Plaza, which has clothing stores on the ground floor and furnished apartments above.

Ambulances attended the scene, and the damage was severe. The explosion started a fire, shattered glass in several nearby buildings, blew out shutters of stores, smashed several cars and knocked down a lamppost.

Rescue mission

Firefighters evacuated residents, put out the blaze in the building and doused cars wrecked in the blast.

Rescue workers helped those

injured by the blast

Police and troops sealed off the area. Red Cross workers helped residents who were overcome by smoke and shock amid a sudden downpour.

Rescuers carried a woman on a stretcher and administered oxygen.

One ceiling in the two-storey underground parking lot collapsed on to the vehicles parked there.

Among the injured was a child, an elderly man and a woman, as well as an American journalist identified as David Livingstone who works for the Daily Star newspaper.

An old man, speaking from his hospital bed, said: "We were sitting watching TV when the bomb went off. We were tossed around, shattered glass, doors and bricks on top of us."

Livingstone was watching the news on television at his fiancee's apartment in a building next door.

"Complete pandemonium"

David Livingstone,

Daily Star newspaper

"There's a sudden explosion. We go flying forward. Lights go out. Complete pandemonium," he said on LBC television from his hospital bed, his head wrapped with a bandage.

He said four people were slightly hurt: "Nothing, I think, that's serious. But it was scary."

Police said the bomb was placed in the underground parking at the centre, which is on the main stretch of the resort town in pine wooded mountains. A preliminary police estimate put the size of the bomb at about 20kg.

Brummana, about 15km northeast of the Lebanese capital, is lightly populated in winter, but is packed in the summer with Arab and other tourists.

President Emile Lahud's hometown of Baabdat is only a few kilometres up the same mountain ridge.

"We have heard many rumours that an explosion would take place. We thought they were only rumours, but still we were careful," one resident told Aljazeera. "We appointed security guards at our shops. Sales are decreasing, we are losing, more people are falling injured and our homeland is dying."

Turmoil

Lebanon has been in turmoil since the 14 February assassination of former Prime Minister Rafiq al-Hariri in a massive bomb on a Beirut street. Al-Hariri and 19 other people were killed in the blast.

Police say the bomb was placed

in underground parking

The killing, which the anti-Syrian opposition blames on Syria and its Lebanese allies, triggered massive anti-Syrian demonstrations and an international uproar that forced Damascus to begin withdrawing its army from the neighbouring country after nearly three decades of dominating it.

The explosion was the fourth since 19 March, when an explosion ripped through a commercial and residential neighbourhood of New Jdaidah. Four days later, another bomb wrecked a shopping centre in the picturesque port city of Juniah north of Beirut.

Last Saturday, a bomb set fires to factories in an industrial zone in the Beirut suburb of Buchriah.

In all, two people were killed and 24 were injured. All explosions happened late at night, with destruction high but casualties low.

Damascus blamed

Anti-Syrian leaders have blamed Damascus and allied Lebanese security authorities for the bombings they say are aimed at proving Syrian troops are needed to maintain security in Lebanon.

The pro-Syrian camp blamed saboteurs for destabilising the country in order to invite international intervention.

Pierre Gimayil and Ghassan Mukhaibir, two opposition legislators for the region, blamed security agencies loyal to the government and Syria for the latest bombing.

"This is a wanton war against the Lebanese people"

Ghassan Mukhaibir,

opposition legislator

"It's part of the same chain. They are political messages that aim at breaking up national unity," Gimayil said. "This is a wanton war against the Lebanese people," Moukheiber said.

"I cannot believe that the intelligence people and the general security don't have an idea of who's behind the bombings," Mukhaibir said. "The only way for citizens to respond is not to be frightened."

But Michel Murr, the pro-Syrian deputy parliament speaker who represents the region, also denounced the attack, which he said was preceded by leaflets predicting a bombing. He urged authorities to exert extra efforts to apprehend the culprits.

Sibawaih Hufininyan, a representative at the Lebanese parliament told Aljazeera that opposition and pro-authority sides were blaming each other. "I believe we are all losing."

The bomb explosion came shortly after a major political development in Beirut, when pro-Syrian politicians rejected Prime Minister-designate Umar Karami's decision to step down and instead urged him to form a cabinet.

Please be patient enough to read this...it's hilariuous!!!

Fawlty Towers, Torquay, Devon, England

NOTICE OF REVOCATION OF INDEPENDENCE

To the citizens of the United States of America,

In the light of your failure to elect a competent President of the USA and

thus to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your

independence, effective today. Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths and other

territories except Utah, which she does not fancy.

Your new prime minister (The Right Honourable Tony Blair, MP for the

97.85% of you who have until now been unaware that there is a world

outside your borders) will appoint a minister for America without the need

for further elections. Congress and the Senate will be disbanded. A

questionnaire will be circulated next year to determine whether any of you

noticed.

To aid in the transition to a British Crown Dependency, the following

rules are introduced with immediate effect:

1. You should look up "revocation" in the Oxford English Dictionary. Then

look up "aluminium". Check the pronunciation guide. You will be amazed at

just how wrongly you have been pronouncing it. The letter 'U' will be

reinstated in words such as 'favour' and 'neighbour', skipping the letter

'U' is nothing more than laziness on your part. Likewise, you will learn

to spell 'doughnut' without skipping half the letters. You will end your

love affair with the letter 'Z' (pronounced 'zed' not 'zee') and the

suffix "ize" will be replaced by the suffix "ise".

You will learn that the suffix 'burgh is pronounced 'burra' e.g.

Edinburgh. You are welcome to respell Pittsburgh as 'Pittsberg' if you

can't cope with correct pronunciation. Generally, you should raise your

vocabulary to acceptable levels.

Look up "vocabulary". Using the same twenty seven words interspersed with

filler noises such as "like" and "you know" is an unacceptable and

inefficient form of communication.

Look up "interspersed". There will be no more 'bleeps' in the Jerry

Springer show. If you're not old enough to cope with bad language then

you shouldn't have chat shows. When you learn to develop your vocabulary

then you won't have to use bad language as often.

2. There is no such thing as "US English". We will let Microsoft know on

your behalf. The Microsoft spell-checker will be adjusted to take account

of the reinstated letter 'u' and the elimination of "-ize".

3. You should learn to distinguish the English and Australian accents. It

really isn't that hard. English accents are not limited to cockney,

upper-class twit or Mancunian (Daphne in Frasier). You will also have to

learn how to understand regional accents - Scottish dramas such as

"Taggart" will no longer be broadcast with subtitles. While we're talking

about regions, you must learn that there is no such place as Devonshire in

England. The name of the county is "Devon". If you persist in calling it

Devonshire, all American States will become "shires" e.g.

Texasshire,

Floridashire,

Louisianashire.

4. Hollywood will be required occasionally to cast English actors as the

good guys. Hollywood will be required to cast English actors to play

English characters. British sit-coms such as "Men Behaving Badly" or "Red

Dwarf" will not be re-cast and watered down for a wishy-washy American

audience who can't cope with the humour of occasional political

incorrectness.

5. You should relearn your original national anthem, "God Save The Queen",

but only after fully carrying out task 1. We would not want you to get

confused and give up half way through.

6. You should stop playing American "football". There is only one kind of

football. What you refer to as American "football" is not a very good

game. The 2.15% of you who are aware that there is a world outside your

borders may have noticed that no one else plays "American" football. You

will no longer be allowed to play it, and should instead play proper

football. Initially, it would be best if you played with the girls. It is

a difficult game.

Those of you brave enough will, in time, be allowed to play rugby (which

is similar to American "football", but does not involve stopping for a

rest every twenty seconds or wearing full Kevlar body armour like

nancies). We are hoping to get together at least a US Rugby sevens side by

2005.

You should stop playing baseball. It is not reasonable to host an event

called the 'World Series' for a game which is not played outside of

America. Since only 2.15% of you are aware that there is a world beyond

your borders, your error is understandable! Instead of baseball, you will

be allowed to play a girls' game called "rounders" which is baseball

without fancy team strip, oversized gloves, collector cards or hotdogs.

7. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry guns. You will no longer

be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous in public than a

vegetable peeler. Because we don't believe you are sensible enough to

handle potentially dangerous items, you will require a permit if you wish

to carry a vegetable peeler in public.

8. July 4th is no longer a public holiday. November 2nd will be a new

national holiday, but only in England. It will be called "Indecisive Day".

9. All American cars are hereby banned. They are crap and it is for your

own good. When we show you German cars, you will understand what we mean.

All road intersections will be replaced with roundabouts. You will start

driving on the left with immediate effect. At the same time, you will go

metric with immediate effect and without the benefit of conversion

tables. Roundabouts and metrication will help you understand the British

sense of humour.

10. You will learn to make real chips. Those things you call French Fries

are not real chips. Fries aren't even French, they are Belgian - although

we realise 97.85% of you (including the guy who discovered fries while in

Europe) are not aware of a country called Belgium. Those things you insist

on calling potato chips are properly called "crisps". Real chips are thick

cut and fried in animal fat. The traditional accompaniment to chips is

beer which should be served warm and flat. Waitresses will be trained to

be more aggressive with customers.

11. As a sign of penance 5 grams of sea salt per cup will be added to all

tea made within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, this quantity to be

doubled for tea made within the city of Boston itself.

12. The cold tasteless stuff you insist on calling beer is not actually

beer at all, it is lager. From November 1st only proper British Bitter

will be referred to as "beer", and European brews of known and accepted

provenance will be referred to as "Lager". The substances formerly known

as "American Beer" will henceforth be referred to as "Near-Frozen Knat's

Urine", with the exception of the product of the American Budweiser

company whose product will be referred to as "Weak Near-Frozen Knat's

Urine". This will allow true Budweiser (as manufactured for the last 1000

years in Pilsen, Czech Republic) to be sold without risk of confusion.

13. From November 10th the UK will harmonise petrol (or "Gasoline" as you

will be permitted to keep calling it until April 1st 2005) prices with the

former USA. The UK will harmonise its prices to those of the former USA

and the Former USA will, in return, adopt UK petrol prices (roughly $6/US

gallon - get used to it).

14. You will learn to resolve personal issues without using guns, lawyers

or therapists. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows

that you're not adult enough to be independent. Guns should only be

handled by adults. If you're not adult enough to sort things out without

suing someone or speaking to a therapist then you're not grown up enough

to handle a gun.

15. Please tell us who killed JFK. It's been driving us crazy.

16. Tax collectors from Her Majesty's Government will be with you shortly

to ensure the acquisition of all revenues due (backdated to 1776).

Thank you for your co-operation

Female Imams & Gay 'Muslims' – the American Vision for Islam

The recent congregation of both male and female 'Muslims', which prayed behind a woman, has been deliberately splashed globally over newspaper front pages all around the globe. In addition the fact that this deplorable action took place within New York and more appropriately in a Chapel, should be of no surprise either. It is the U.S. (the Kufar) that openly support such actions in their quest of redefining and polluting the purity of Islam with the filth of their Kufr values and ideals of 'democracy', 'women's rights' and 'freedom' etc. Under the 'freedom' of the American flag the 'Imam' Amina Wadud, disgustingly referred to Allah SWT in her 'khutba' as "She" and also later stated that her action was "only one aspect of emphasizing the belief in the reality that women are equal". Could this statement be the precursor to Ms. Amina's next ludicrous announcement of her desire to have four husbands??

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Islam, it is well known that the Muslimah must pray behind the men if the congregation is mixed due to what Anas narrated and said: “The Messenger of Allah (saw) stood and At-Teem and I stood behind him, and an old woman behind us, so he prayed with us.” Also from ibn Abbas who said: “I prayed at the side of the Prophet (saw) and Aisha was with us praying behind us, and I was at the side of the Prophet praying with him.” Thus the evidences are clear that the woman must pray behind the man in congregation.

Alongside Al Fatihah 'mosque' for Gay and Lesbian 'Muslims' in California, Ms Amina and her like are mere signs of the intellectual onslaught the Kuffar are planning upon our Islamic Aqeedah under the guise of 'democracy'. It is true that with democracy such actions are allowed and encouraged under the banner of 'freedom' and it will be the Kuffar's intention to introduce such debauchery within our lands. It is also true that under the Islamic System revealed by the Allmighty Allah SWT such actions are totally forbidden. Now, isn't it more obvious which system the Islamic Ummah should be calling and striving for?

Allah (SWT) says:

“Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, “Because Allah has made one of them to excel (Fadl) the other and because they spend (to support them) from their means… [An- Nisa: 34]

Reyaan al Humaithi

Qatar 20/3/05

The upcoming summit in Algeria follows a number of surreptitious meetings between representatives of several Gulf countries and the bastard state of Israel. From Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and most recently Kuwait, reports have been leaked about negotiations and business deals being made between the 'Treacherous' and the 'Cursed'. These meetings and the upcoming summit are aimed at reigniting the 1993 Saudi-Peace initiative. In short, as a reminder the initiative demands for:

1) The acceptance of 'Israel', (under the pretext of '1967 borders') – Despite it violating Allah SWT's commands.

2) The normalization of 'Israel', (under the pretext of 'the Peace Process') - Despite it violating Allah SWT's commands.

3) The establishment of a Kufr Palestinian State, (under the pretext of 'the right to half of Al Quds) - Despite it violating Allah SWT's commands.

Furthermore George Bush has openly stated in recent speeches how he expects the Muslim World to embrace the 'state' of the Jews. The pathetic and undignified response from 'our leaders' was opitimised by the British agent King Abdullah of Jordan in which he stated that the Algeria summit should 'amend the Saudi initiative to take Israel's fear into account'.

Yaa Muslimeen! We as an Ummah have witnessed those from our own who have been duped into the recent marches and demonstrations in Egypt, Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon etc; actions which have been in line with Shaytan's commands of 'Nationalism', 'Women's Rights', 'Pluralism' 'Freedom' and 'Democracy'. Isn't it about time that we now responded and gave action to the commands of the Allmighty Allah SWT??!

U will not be able to hit me
Posted by: Muslimah - 03-21-2005, 02:06 PM - Forum: Islam and kids - No Replies

Bismillah

as salam alykom

I received this story on an arabic email, couldnt help translating it and sharing it with my dear children here.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is about a child on the 2nd grade whose mother was so keen on raising him according to what Allah Pleases. She taught him well how never to miss Fajr prayer in the Masjed. Unfortunately he used to go to the masjed while his father is sleeping back home.

During one of his classes at school, the teacher decided to apply mass punishment (for a specific reason) of hitting everyone in the class. He started hitting each student after the other till he reached this child. The teacher asked him to open his hand to hit him with the ruler on the palm.

The child boldly answered: no u will not hit me. At this point the teacher became really upset because of the challenging tone. He said don’t u hear I said open your hand. The child said: do u want to hit me? The teacher said: yes. The child said wallahi u will not be able to. You will not be able to hit me.

The teacher in a shock said: what?

The student said wallahi u will not be able to, <b>just try if u want to
</b>.

At this stage the teacher was in disbelief and amazed of the student's attitude. But he still asked him: why cant I?

The student said: didn’t u hear the hadeeth of Rasulu Allah salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam:' <b>One who prays Fajr in congregation shall remain in the protection of Allah
</b>" and I prayed Fajr in congregation, therefore I am in the protection of Allah. At the same time, I didn’t do anything wrong for u to punish me!

The teacher stood there in full humblness to Allah, amazed at the way this child is thinking. He just couldn’t but to inform the administration for them to call in his father and congratulate him about the way he brought up his child.

Unfortunately when the father came in, it was a shock for everyone. They found him a careless person without any sign of piety on his face.

Everybody asked him are u the father of this child?

He said yes

Then they asked the child: is this your father he said yes but he does not join us in praying!!!

At this point one of the teachers started talking to the father telling him the situation that took place between his son and the teacher. The father was deeply touched and the situation actually was a reason for this man to return back to Allah.

Sobhan Allah, how prayer could affect us and teach us to never fear anyone but Allah. We must never fear anyone but Allah. Prayer is the source of strength for the believer, the light which leads one to the correct path.

Dear brothers and sisters, don’t forget that the final words of our beloved Prophet salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam before he departed from this world were an advice for us to never abandon prayer as it is the link that connects with Allah. Prayer contains the response to our supplication, light in our face, and companionship and support during crisis. Many people feel that they are lost in this world with much worries filling their hearts. If u actually observe this type of people, u will find that they are those who abandon prayer and indulge in sins.

La hawala wala qowata ila billah, how can we disobey our Creator while He is Looking at us? How can we overlook the establishment of prayer even those in the middle of the day not even Farj which is totally forgotten by many young people.

I see people put their alarm clocks 15 minutes after the time of Fajr is over to catch up with their work. I wonder how can they miss Fajr and are keen to be punctual on their work.

Brothers and sisters, be informed that the first item is to be judged on the Day of Judgment is our prayer. In case it is sound and correct the rest is the same other wise. Fear Allah and establish prayer before u leave this world.
