The story of Adam and Eve (Hawwa)
Posted by: Muslimah - 07-18-2003, 08:53 AM - Forum: Islam - Replies (1)

The story of Adam and Eve (Hawwa) [Peace be upon them] (3)

Ahadith about the Creation of Adam

Imam Ahmad has narrated from Abu Musa [Radi-Allahu-anhu: May Allah be pleased with him], who said that the Prophet [sallalahu-'alahi-wa-sallam] said:

“Allah has created Adam from a handful (soil) which He had gathered from all over the earth. That is how the children of Adam came according to the (colour and nature of the) earth. There are white among them, as well as red and black, and cross colours. There are those among them who are of bad nature and good nature, soft as well as harsh and in between.”

Allah the Almighty created Adam with His Hand so that Iblis should not display any arrogance. So He created him a human, and he remained as an earthen body for forty years. When angels passed by and saw him, they became frightened. Iblis was the most frightened among them. He would pass by him and hit him, and the body would make a sound like the sound of pottery with a rattle. It is this which Allah has mentioned in this Verse:

”…from a clay, like pottery.” (55:14)

Iblis said: There must be something for which he is created. He would enter through his mouth and come out by his anus. He said to the angels: “Do not be frightened of it, because your Lord is solid (Samad) and this is hollow. If I overpower him I will destroy him.”

When the time approached in which Allah wanted to breathe “into him the soul which He created for him,” He said to the angels: “When I have breathed the soul in him, you should prostrate before him.” When He breathed “into him the soul,” and the soul passed through to his head, Adam sneezed. The angels said: “Say: Alhamdu lillah (Praise be to Allah).” So he said: : “Alhamdu lillah.” Allah said afterwards: “Rahimaka Rabbuka (May your Lord have mercy upon you).” When the soul entered into his eyes, he saw the fruits of the Paradise, and when it entered into his stomach, he desired for food. Adam jumped up in haste for the fruits of the Paradise before the soul even entered into his legs. That is what Allah indicated to in this Verse:

“Man is created of haste.” (21:37)

Anas [Radi-Allahu-anhu: May Allah be pleased with him ] said that the Prophet [sallalahu-'alahi-wa-sallam] said:

“When Allah created Adam, He left him for a while as long He wanted him to be. Iblis went around him, and when he found him hollow he knew that he was a creature who could not restrain.” (Sahih Muslim)

Anas [Radi-Allahu-anhu: May Allah be pleased with him ] has also narrated from the Prophet [sallalahu-'alahi-wa-sallam] who said:

“When He breathed into Adam and the soul reached into his head, he sneezed and said: ‘ Alhamdu lillahi Rabbil-‘Alamin (Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds),’ Allah answered him by saying: ‘Yarhamuk-Allah (May Allah bestow His Mercy upon you)’.” (Sahih of Ibn Hibban)

Abu Hurairah [Radi-Allahu-anhu: May Allah be pleased with him ] has narrated that the Prophet [sallalahu-'alahi-wa-sallam] said:

“When Allah created Adam, He stroked with His Hand over his back. So all the souls which were due to be born in his progeny until the Day of Judgement, came out of his back. In front of the eyes of every human He made a shining light and put them before Adam. Adam said: ‘O Lord! Who are they?’ He replied: ‘ They are your progeny.’ He saw a man among them whose shining light attracted him. Adam asked: ' O Lord! Who is this? ' Allah answered him: ‘He is a man who will come in the last of your progeny, and who will be called David (Dawood).’ He asked Him: ‘O Lord! How much have You granted him of his age?’ Allah said: ‘Sixty years.’ Adam asked Allah: 'O Lord! Grant him from my age forty years more.' (Ad-Darimi )

Abu Hurairah [Radi-Allahu-anhu: May Allah be pleased with him ] has also narrated that the Prophet [sallalahu-'alahi-wa-sallam] said:

“Allah created Adam, and he was sixty Dhira’a tall, and then said to him: 'Go and great those angels, and listen what they greet you back. Because that will be your greeting and the greeting of your progeny.' Adam said: 'Assalamu 'Alaikum.'’They greeted him back by saying: 'Assalamu 'Alaikum wa Rahmatullah.' So Adam also added in it 'wa Rahmatullah.'’So whoever enters the Paradise, will enter it in Adam's image, and since that time human are being reduced in their height till now.” (Sahih Bukhari )

Imam Malik says in his book Mu’atta that ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab [Radi-Allahu-anhu: May Allah be pleased with him ] was asked regarding this Verse:

And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam's loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying): Am I not your Lord? They said: Yes! We testify, lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: Verily, we have been unaware of this.. (7:172)

‘Umar [Radi-Allahu-anhu: May Allah be pleased with him ] said: I have heard the Prophet [sallalahu-'alahi-wa-sallam] being asked about this Verse and he replied:

“Allah created Adam, then He stroke upon his back with His Right Hand and took out from it some of his progeny and said: 'I have created all of them for Paradise, and they will be doing the deeds of those who deserve Paradise.' Then He stroke upon his back again and took out the rest of his progeny, and said: 'They are created for Hell and will be doing the deeds of those who deserve the Hell’'." A companion said: "O Messenger of Allah! Then what is a deed for?" The Prophet [sallalahu-'alahi-wa-sallam] replied: "When Allah creates a person for Paradise, He facilitates for him to do the deeds of the people of Paradise, till he dies on those deeds and so Allah enters him in Paradise for those deeds. And when He creates a person for Hell, He facilitates for him to do the deeds of the people of Hell, till he dies on those deeds and so Allah enters him in the Hell for those deeds.” (Mu’atta of Malik, and also see At-Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud and An-Nasa'i )

And Imam Ahmad has narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas [Radi-Allahu-anhu: May Allah be pleased with him], who said that the Prophet [sallalahu-'alahi-wa-sallam] said:

“Allah took the covenant from the back of Adam (Peace be upon him) on the Day of ‘Arafah. He took out from his back all his progeny He created, and scattered them in front of Him and spoke to them saying: 'Am I not your Lord?' They said: 'Yes indeed, we bear witness,' lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: 'Surely we were unaware of this.'’Or lest you say: 'Our fathers before us ascribed partners to Allah, and we were only descendants after them, will “You then destroy us for what those who have followed falsehood have done.” (7:172,173)

A thought to share with all of u
Posted by: Muslimah - 07-17-2003, 08:23 AM - Forum: General - Replies (3)

Praise be to Allah Who guided us to this and if it was not for Him we wouldn’t have been guided prayer and peace be upon His Messenger Mohamed Ibn Abdullah.

I had a thought to share with all my brothers and sister here, could not keep it to myself.

As usual Alhamdulelah we see Allah’s Power and Wisdom manifest in almost each step we take. Let us take our experience with Whisper, who came into this forum as David to start with. He came into this forum willingly but with a single goal which he openly expressed in [u:bcd3d26f42][b:bcd3d26f42]this thread[/b:bcd3d26f42][/u:bcd3d26f42][/color:bcd3d26f42], to have us denounce the Quran. He spared no effort or time using every possible means from provoking, bad language, harsh attitude, etc as u all observed. In many times he openly insulted Allah and Islam (we seek refuge from him and similar others). In return Alhamdulelah we practiced patience, tried to provide answers when he had questions which he rarely did. Then we had to start locking topics when it came to Allah. We can not continue to be held accountable. Suddenly he decided to victimize himself. He posted a sad sounding topic saying he is leaving. Frankly speaking, at that moment we had banned him. But Allah Did not want the ban to work at that time. He had to come back as u all saw, claim that he defeated Muslims in this forum as in others, bragging about his work even in atheist forums. While Allah was preparing for him a clear and strong defeat. As He said in the Noble Quran:

“Remember how the unbelievers plotted against thee, to keep thee in bonds, or slay thee, or get thee out (of thy home). they plot and plan, and Allah too plans, but the best of planners is Allah.” (Quran 8:30)

It was when he decided to challenge Allah and involve himself with brother Twister who saw the light and Alhamdulelah landed safely on the shore. He witnessed his own defeat and fell just quite.

As for us “it was Allah: when thou threwest (a handful of dust), it was not thy act, but Allah's” (Quran 8:17).

So Allah Did not allow us to ban him earlier so that he comes back and witnesses his own defeat. He challenged Allah. And this is just the beginning for him.

Brothers and sisters do u see in this what I saw. I sincerely hope I was able to convey the message.

May Allah allow victory to His Deen and keep us all fixed on the correct path.

Praise be to Allah and prayer and peace be upon His Messenger Mohamed

  A Funny Joke.................
Posted by: AhmedSyed - 07-17-2003, 08:07 AM - Forum: General - Replies (5)

Assalamualkum wa rahamatullahi wa barakatahu

Brothers and Sisters i just wanna relay a joke my father told me he got on his email, u might have heard it. I'll try recalling it to the best of my memory.

THE AIRPORT

During the hustle and bustle of the afternoon rush at the JFK airport, two men are talking to each other while a muslim is sitting near by reading a newspaper.

[b:cec0727099]Carl:So hey, where did u wanna plan ur vacation to?

Roger:I think it was to China.

Carl:China?! But that place has too many muslims![/b:cec0727099]

The muslim man sitting nearby flinches, and trys to conceal the fact that he hears the other men near by.

[b:cec0727099]Roger:I guess so.[/b:cec0727099]

He then turns his attention to the comic section and something comes to mind.

[b:cec0727099]Roger:What do u think about...Turkey? I heard Istanbul is wo-

Carl:What?! Are u kidding me? That place is full of muslims![/b:cec0727099]

The muslims nearby now gets really uncomfortable and coughs. He thinks about saying something polite but chokes it down.

[b:cec0727099]Roger:Ah! Now i've got it! Ill go to Indonesia!I heard the senery there is to die for!!

Carl, now obviously disturbed, looks at Roger and stares dumbly at him trying to figure out what is up with him.

Carl:Indonesia! That place is infested with Muslims!![/b:cec0727099]

[b:cec0727099]The muslim man now gets up and proclames loudly.

Muslim man: Why don't you go to hell!? There aren't any muslims there!![/b:cec0727099]

Morals of the story: For one thing, we can tell that the muslim man reacted in away that was totally uncalled for and is against Islam. Remeber, we are all brothers, a muslim is not above a non-muslim or vice versa, only in piety can each be measured. He should have politely asked the other man to stop talking in this disgraceful manner. Now, not only do the men have a bad impression of muslims, they are beginning to despise Islam worse then they had before (thanks to the bad actions of one muslim). Brothers and sisters, we must think of ourselfs as actors (we are constantly on a stage for the large portions of our lives) we must set a good standard and always remember that what we do, influences others, if the man had been kind to him and asked him to stop and tried to come to common ground w/ Carl, then i think that he would have understood and might even be interested in Islam.

I once heard a speaker at Ramadan 2001 say that Islam has been rudely pushed into centerstage, "for all to poke, probe, debate, and ponder what the meaning of it is". "And what do actors do, when it is their moment?", he paused and with a smile he replied, "They shine".

Remeber Allah SWT guides whomever he wills, so lets act as catalysts and speed up the process. (a little science joke there)

Thanks for the time you took to read this. Peace.

  Overpopulation: Myths, Facts, and Politics

[b:8c94cfb934]Overpopulation: Myths, Facts, and Politics[/b:8c94cfb934][/color:8c94cfb934]

[i:8c94cfb934]By Abid Ullah Jan

Posted: 9 Jamad-ul-Awwal 1424, 9 July 2003[/i:8c94cfb934]

The UN is all set to observe yet another World Population Day on July 11, 2003. In developing countries, the day is "observed" with great fanfare and the highest-level government officials issue strong statements in favor of depopulation programs. An army of journalists in the press and electronic media further support them without paying any attention to the underlying realities.

To facilitate understanding, one needs to find out whether overpopulation is a reality and whether it is the real reason for poverty and underdevelopment. If we discover that what the media, textbooks and other means of communication tell us is not true, we then need to ponder what, in fact, are the real objectives of the sponsors of depopulation.

[b:8c94cfb934]Is overpopulation a reality?[/b:8c94cfb934]

Over the years many researchers have authentically proved that the problem is not too many people at all. Contrary to the claims of family planning and population control specialists, world population growth is rapidly declining. United Nations figures show that the 79 countries that comprise 40 percent of the world's population now have fertility rates too low to prevent population decline. The rate in Asia fell from 2.4 in 1965-70 to 1.5 in 1990-95. In Latin America and the Caribbean, the rate fell from 2.75 in 1960-65 to 1.70 in 1990-95. In Europe, the rate fell to 0.16 - that is, effectively zero - in 1990-95. And the annual rate of change in world population fell from 2 percent in 1965-70 to less than 1.5 percent in 1990-95. Official forecasts of eventual world population size have been steadily falling. In 1992-93, the World Bank predicted world population would exceed 10 billion by the year 2050. In 1996, the U.N. predicted 9 billion for 2050. If the trend continues, the next estimate will be lower still.

Overpopulation is a relative term. Over with respect to what? Food? Resources? Living space? The data show that no case can be made for overpopulation with respect to all three variables. Dr. Osterfeld, Professor of Political Science at Saint Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana, concludes that although there are now more people in the world than ever before,

Quote:"by any meaningful measure the world is actually becoming relatively less populated."[/quote:8c94cfb934]It is true that the world has been experiencing a population increase that began in the eighteenth century. Population rose six-fold in the next 200 years. But this is an increase not explosion because it has been accompanied, and in large part made possible, by a productivity explosion, a resource explosion, a food explosion, an information explosion, a communications explosion, a science explosion, and a medical explosion. The result is that the six-fold increase in world population is dwarfed by the eighty-fold increase in world output during the same 200 year period.

[b:7503de8be0]Someone inquired about this code thing is it true?[/b:7503de8be0]

By Yasir Muhammad Khan & Sheikh Sahib

There are many products containing pig fat which we might not notice in the ingredients. Sheikh Sahib have worked in the food department of France for ten years. His duty dealt with the registration of food and cosmetic items.

Before launching the product the manufacturer would bring a specimen to me with a list of components used in it. I would send the specimen to laboratory for examination. Then I would compare the ingredients appearing in the laboratory report with the ones mentioned in the list submitted by the company. If there were no discrepancies, I would issue the registration letter. I noticed that some of the component lists submitted by the companies carried some codes like "E141" and "E904". In the beginning, I was very surprised at reading these codes. When I asked my senior officers about the codes, they said, 'check only the components and don't consider these letters'.

This increased my curiosity and I started investigating at my own. I came to know startling facts. My investigation revealed that pig meat is eaten in all Europe, America and Far East. In these countries, there are millions of farms for breeding pigs. In France alone, there are 42 thousand such farms. When the pigs reach a certain age, they are slaughtered and their meat is supplied to the markets. People eat pig flesh. In Europe and America, people do not eat fats at all while pig has a lot of fats.

Some two hundred years ago, pig farms and slaughter-houses were formally set up and pork was supplied to the consumers under supervision big problem to dispose of the fat. In the beginning they used to burn the fat but later they thought to use it in products. So, the pig fat was melted and used in making soap. The experiment was successful. Then, plants were set up to process the fat. The packed fat was brought in market where companies would put the fat for using it in food and drinks.

In the beginning of this century, quality control was systematized. European countries started to introduce quality control over food, drinks, lotions and drugs, and directed the manufacturing companies to print a list of ingredients and their effects. The companies started printing "Pig Fat" on the wrappers and bottles.

But when these products came to Islamic countries, the Muslims boycotted them. You must know the background of the freedom war in 1857 in India. At that time, rifle bullets were sent to India from Europe via sea. During the six-month journey in the sea, the bullets would get moisturized due to humid and salty air of sea and were no longer usable. Britain would put a coating on the bullets to preserve them. To use the bullets, the soldiers would peel the fat coating with their teeth. This continued for some time, but when the local soldiers came to know that the coating was made of pig fat, they revolted. The revolt turned into the freedom war of 1857.

Muslims around the world learnt that the European, products had pig fats, and the sale was adversely affected. The manufacturing companies raised a hue and cry and the European governments allowed them to print "animal fats" instead of "pig fats". Now the companies declared that their products used animal fats. But westerners kill the animals in a violent manner by electrocuting them or cutting the neck in one goes with machines. The Muslims slaughter the animals in Islamic way and believe slaughtering through electrocution as haraam, and do not eat the flesh, fat, etc of an animal slaughtered in such way.

The European companies renamed the "pig fats" as "animal fats", but the Muslims refused to accept as halaal all the animals slaughtered by the Europeans and started boycotting the European products having an animal ingredient.

This was the time when the companies had taken the shape of multinational companies and their products were being sold in the seven continents. The companies did not want to lose a one-third of their buyers. Secondly, the number of products and the output of companies had increased so much that it was nearly impossible to arrange for the fat of halaal animals or corn oil. If the companies had obtained the fats of animals slaughtered in Islamic ways or used corn oil. Their budget would have been affected and the cost would have increased.

Thirdly, the pig fat would have gone in waste. After prolonged deliberation, the European minds devised a solution that the companies should not mention "fat" on the ingredient list.

But there was a problem that under the law, the manufacturers were bound to print the names of ingredients. To solve this problem, they defined codes for animal ingredients used in the products. The codes represented which animal's ingredient was used in which ratio. The list of codes was sent to food departments of different countries. Since then, the companies mention only the codes and thus make billions of dollars profits every year.

It is a pity that the Muslims are unknowingly using these products. One major reason of the increasing obscenity and debauchery in the Muslim countries is the toothpaste, chewing gums, chocolates, sweets, biscuits, corn flakes, packed fruits and vitamin tablets in which fats of haraam animals have been used.

These are the only E codes you may detect in a product which has a haraam ingredient. Please print a copy and take it with you on every shopping trip.

  The Truthful and The Liars

[b:a5991cad2f]Bismillahir-rahmanir-raheeem As-salaamu`alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh to my brothers and sisters in islaam[/b:a5991cad2f]

When people start to divide and seperate under too many flags and everyone calls to their own flag.....each one feeling they are right and the rest astray we need to choose which flag to 'rally' under.

So when we are confused as to which 'flag' is Allah Subhaanahu wa Taalaa's....we turn to Him Subhaanahu wa Taalaa to tell us which one to choose and follow the banner He unfurls for us.

Allah Subhaanahu wa Taalaa says in the Glorious Qur'an.....

[b:a5991cad2f]O you believers! Have fear of Allah and be with those who are (Assadiqeen) truthful in word and deed. 9.119[/color:a5991cad2f][/b:a5991cad2f]

This is a very clear invitation for every mo'min to join with the Assadiqeen. This means that we are not allowed to be with the liars. And now when we come to this point....Who are the Assadiqeen - the truthful?

Allah Subhaanahu wa Taalaa says in the Glorious Qur'an.....

[b:a5991cad2f]<span>The truthful believers are those who believe in Allah and His Rasool, then never doubt; and make Jihad (holy fighting) with their wealth and their persons in the cause of Allah. Such are the ones who are truthful (Assadiqeen) in their claim to be the believers. 49.15[/color:a5991cad2f][/b:a5991cad2f]</span>

<span>So the Assadiqeen - The Truthful are believers who never doubt and prove it by giving their wealth and their lives for jihad.</span>

<span>And so we now see that the Mujahideen are the Assadiqeen.</span>

<span>Allah Subhaanahu wa Taalaa says in the Glorious Qur'an.....</span>

<span>[b:a5991cad2f]</span><span><span>Among the believers there are men who have been true (saadaqoo) to their covenant with Allah: of them some have completed their vow through sacrificing their lives, and some others are waiting for it, and have not changed their determination in the least. 33.23 [/color:a5991cad2f][/b:a5991cad2f]</span></span>

<span><span>Now we must check the enemy's flag so we know right from wrong. Who are the opposite to the Assadiqeen-The truthful? The opposite is obviously the Liars. So who are the Liars?</span></span>

<span><span>Allah Subhaanahu wa Taalaa says in the Glorious Qur'an.....</span></span>

<span><span><span>[b:a5991cad2f]When the Munaafiqoon (hypocrites) come to you, they say: "We bear witness that you are indeed the Rasool of Allah." Allah knows that you are indeed His Rasool, and Allah bears witness that the Munaafiqeen (hypocrites) are Kathiboon (liars). 63.1[/b:a5991cad2f][/color:a5991cad2f]</span></span></span>

<span><span><span>We now see that the Liars are indeed the Munaafiqeen - Hypocrites. So how do you identify the Munaafiqeen so as to avoid them?</span></span></span>

<span><span><span>Allah Subhaanahu wa Taalaa says in the Glorious Qur'an.....</span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span>[b:a5991cad2f]Announce the painful punishment to those Munaafiqeen (hypocrites) who choose the unbelievers to be their auliya (friends & protectors) rather than believers. Are they seeking honor in being with them? Whereas all honor belongs to Allah Alone. 4.138-9[/b:a5991cad2f][/color:a5991cad2f]</span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span>So we see the Munaafiqeen (hypocrites) make kafir auliya by not fighting them and they hate Jihad and look for every possible way to run away from it. This opinion is not from ourselves.....</span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span>Allah Subhaanahu wa Taalaa says in the Glorious Qur'an.....</span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span>[b:a5991cad2f]</span></span></span></span><span><span><span><span><span>When it was said to them (Munaafiqeen - hypocrites): "Come fight for the cause of Allah or at least defend yourselves," they replied: "Had we known how to fight we would certainly come with you." On that day they were nearer to unbelief than to belief; for they uttered with their mouths what was not in their hearts. Allah is quite aware of what they were concealing. 3.167[/color:a5991cad2f][/b:a5991cad2f]</span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span>and again.....</span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>[b:a5991cad2f]The hypocrite men and the hypocrite women (Munaafiqoon-hypocrites), they are all alike . They enjoin what is evil, forbid what is just, and withhold their hands from doing good. They have forgotten Allah; so He has forgotten them. In fact the Munaafiqeen (hypocrites) are transgressors. 9.67[/b:a5991cad2f][/color:a5991cad2f]</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>And so what does "withold their hands" from doing good mean? Quturbi in his tafsir states that it refers to avoiding Jihad (fighting). And worse they call to people not to do Jihad (fighting in Allah's cause). There are many many ayat like the following, one i think is sufficient.... </span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>Allah Subhaanahu wa Taalaa says in the Glorious Qur'an.....</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span><span>[b:a5991cad2f]Allah is well aware of those among you who hold others back and those who say to their brethren: "Join us," and seldom take part in the fighting themselves. 33.18[/b:a5991cad2f][/color:a5991cad2f]</span></span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span><span>So now my muslim brothers and sisters in Islaam.....</span></span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Do you want to rally under the flag of the Kathiboon (liars) and the Munaafiqeen (hypocrites) and work to stop Jihad and disobey Allah Subhaanahu wa Taalaa's order or publicise clearly that you want to be exactly where Allah Subhaanahu wa Taalaa wants you to be.....under the flag of the Truthful believers.....The Assadiqeen.</span></span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span><span>[b:a5991cad2f]</span></span></span></span></span></span></span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>O you believers! Have fear of Allah and be with those who are (Assadiqeen) truthful in word and deed. 9.119[/color:a5991cad2f][/b:a5991cad2f]</span></span></span></span></span></span></span></span>
