Christian tries to discredit the Prophet
Posted by: Muslimah - 07-28-2003, 08:19 AM - Forum: Islam - Replies (4)

The Prophet's Married Life

Q. A Christian missionary Dr. Anis Shorrosh says that the prophet's wives were virtually captives in the prophet's houses. This he says because they were not to be spoken to except from behind a curtain, and because they could not remarry after Muhammad's death (see Dr. Anis Shorrosh, Islam Revealed. US: Thomas Nelson, 1988. p. 64).

A. Dr. Shorrosh is mistaken. First, the wives of the prophet (pbuh) were allowed to go out for their needs as specifically stated in the authentic hadiths although it is true that they were also directed to stay at home except when such need arose.

Second, they were allowed to speak to other women face to face. The curtain applied only in speaking to men. This was not to keep the wives of the prophet captive but, as the Qur'an specifically said, so as to keep purity in their hearts and the hearts of the men who spoke to them. They were not captives but teachers. Men had to continually come to learn from them about the prophet's example. The curtain rule was only to make sure that the wrong type of attraction did not develop between teacher and student.

Third, the fact that the wives of the prophet could not remarry after his death has to be understood in its fuller context. The Qur'an declared them to be the mothers of the believers. It was more of an honour to those women to have billions of spiritual children than to have temporary husbands.

Fourth, while the prophet (pbuh) was alive he offered them to opt for a separation so that they can go their separate ways. They had shown some discontent over the prophet's self-imposed poverty. But when the offer was made they refused to leave the prophet and his poverty. What would they choose after his death?

Fifth, a mother in Islam is more honourable than a wife. After they are already promoted to the respectable position as mother of all the believers why would they want to demote themselves to become wives of their spiritual sons? Dr. Shorrosh needs to look at this broader context in order to properly understand the honourable position of the wives of the prophet (pbuh).

[img:5d8fe0f0f2]http://www.gifs.net/animate/colormov.gif[/img:5d8fe0f0f2]

Many of us come to a flash-point in our lives where we find we must search for 'the truth'.

Something keeps ticking away inside us, driving us on. Some auto-danger signal inside our minds that keeps 'ringing alarm bells'. We don't realise it and we don't acknowledge it most times. For most of the time we stumble blindly in the dark with momentary flashes of light but not enough to act as a beacon. We can Kufr(verb of Kafir) - meaning we can "cover over "the truth / the light" but the warning sign is always there "Danger, Danger, Son of Adam - Judgement Day approaching".

Most people who visit here seem to be genuine caring souls searching for 'the truth'. Most have an elementary understanding of Islam and have more than likely browsed through the Qur'an.

But perhaps you didn't notice the opening address -

[b:5d8fe0f0f2]In fact, as for those who reject Faith; it is the same, whether you warn them or you don't, they will not believe. Allah has sealed their hearts and their hearing and their eyes are covered and there is a grievous punishment for them.[/b:5d8fe0f0f2] Surat Al-Baqarah 2.6-7

This is the part we need to consider.....

[b:5d8fe0f0f2]"Allah has sealed their hearts and their hearing and their eyes are covered..." [/b:5d8fe0f0f2]

If you are indeed truthful and genuine about wanting to know the 'truth' and have come seeking enlightenment then you must first ask God to 'unseal' you. But be warned, do not do as others have done and ask Jesus or Buddha etc.

Go into your bedroom and shut the door, get down on your knees and put your face on the ground (like a slave does before his king in the movies)

and say.....

[b:5d8fe0f0f2]Allah.....I am a son of Adam

And I come seeking the truth

If heaven and hell be true

I do not want to be counted amongst the losers

Please 'unseal' me

And show me the truth.

Ameen.[/b:5d8fe0f0f2]

Practice this and recite it over and over. You know it's true. Seek and ye shall find. Ask and the seal will be opened.

May Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful, Lord of all the Worlds and all creation guide you to the straight path.

Bismillah,

As-salaamu alaikum ,

Insha'llah, make dua to Allah (guidance prayer), what I suggest, is that you do seek full custody, (the offspring should not have to be deprieved of islam, because of his mother's or father's sins and weaknesses.

Especially because he is male as yourslef, and if you are indeed practicing islam. You must not never keep your offspring away from their mothers, but explain to them that their mothers or fathers are weak muslims, they need Allah's help, and not to disrespect their parents. Also, you must keep a good relationship with your offspring, not to get back at their other parent, but to keep them closer to yourself than, the weaker parent.

Patience prayer peace, and no matter what your children will love you for allow them to see the other parent.

you must teach your child to love his parent without obeying her. or him, if they don't obey Allah andHis Messenger (saaws).

Custody, yes for sure, tyour child will need your directions for sure, with a mom or dad who s not the straight path.

May Allah join us in righteousness and keep us all from wrong-doings...amin!

as-salaamu alaikum wa rahmantu'llah

Peace to all.

I am new to these forums and I do not see a place to introduce myself so I will do that here in the women's section.

I live in USA and have been a muslim for the past 26 years. The computer has become a sort of hobbie of mine. I have just recently started posting in forums and message boards.

I am so happy to find muslims with these boards.

I hope there are many of you out there that I can meet.

 Various Rules
Posted by: Muslimah - 07-26-2003, 07:51 PM - Forum: Learning Arabic - Replies (15)

Insh a Allah, here we will explain rules as they come through the course of lessons.

Now for u to say for example I want to eat

U would just say

أريد أن آكل

ureed an aakul

u don’t need to say

أنا أريد أن آكل

ana ureed an aakul

You skip the pronoun

تريد أن تآكل

tureed an ta-akul

يريد أن يأكل

ureed an ya-akul

نريد أن نأكل

nureed an – na-akul

So the alef at the beginning would imply that u r talking about yourself, the ta indicates you r referring to a singular female.

The ya indicates talking about a singular male, the noun indicates we.

So to make it more simple:

The prefix for the present tense:

alef = I

ya = he

ta = she

noun = we

As for the past tense, it takes a suffix as follows:

أكلت

akaltu

I ate

أكل

akala

he ate

أكلت

akalat

she ate

أكلنا

akalna

we ate

أكلوا

akalou

they ate
