Just last week I read about a couple who tortured their maid who was only 18 untill she died now in todays news I read the following article:
Husband Jailed for Wife’s Torture of Maid
Staff Writer
RIYADH, 4 August 2003 — A court in Jeddah sentenced a businessman to three years in prison for the torture inflicted by his wife on their Indonesian maid, a newspaper reported yesterday.
According to Al-Madinah newspaper, Judge Muhammed Amin Mordad said the wife tortured the Indonesian maid “by inserting a heated screwdriver into her genitals.” The paper said that the maid fled this “continuos ill-treatment” and “became hysterical”.
The maid sought refuge in the Indonesian Consulate in Jeddah.
The businessman husband, who did not know about his wife’s torture of the maid, took responsibility for her actions, and was also sentenced to a unspecified number of lashings and ordered to pay $10,000 in damages.
And I thought we were implementing Shari3ah here, why can't they put the heated screwdriver in the wife's genitals?
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.

I pray Allah (swt) bless me to state truth and keep me from stating wrong.
My understanding about marriage, (It is truely sacred)
I believe that when the Prophet (saaws) first married, with Khadijah (ra), he (saaws) knew as Allah stated in qur'an, (to have one wife is better).
And the Prophet (saaws) stayed with her and only her til her death.
It wasn't until a battle or war that left many women widowed, that he (saaws) as protection, took these women and married them. Also, it was not a disrespect for him (saaws) to marry Aisha (ra), and it was not just because she was a virgin. He (saaws) saw in her at an early age (knowledge, potiental) and won't allow any other man to marry and raise her in islam, and of course he(saaws) also saw her (ra) in a dream, sent as a sign from Allah (swt), so he married her, but he didn't go into her until years later when she became of age, (so it's not about lust).
Most of the Brothers and even before, I wondered, why not more than one wife, then when you think about it on the day of judgement, we must answer for each wife and each child from each wife.
We must follow the Prophet (saaws), but we must not marry more than one these sisters, thinking they are like a box of chocolates. These sisters are servants of Allah and we must respect them. If we are not marrying them for the pleasure of Allah to protect, teach, maintain, and love these sisters (whether 5 lbs. under or over), brothers we must be careful. Besides, when we join in marriage, yes we must be fair and let the first wife (at least know), and she must come up with a very logically reason why she can't handle it.
Even the Prophet (saaws) had a hard time with his(saaws) wives, they were naturally jealous, but never crossed, the lines into evil behaviours. He (saaws) even left them for a month, (went up to his attic and told them to be well behaved). He (saaws) just took a break from them. Even the qur'an tells of his offer to divorce his wives. *
Sometimes 1 wife is hard enough.
I know most of my friends still get finanical help from their wives and can't even have enough time with the wives children, they have now. I have some friends on the other hand who have much funds and plenty of energy to keep all their wives happy (or should I say from complaining).
Brothers, you know, and it is something we should think about, the life of the world or the best of both worlds.
As-salaamu alaikum wa rahmantu'llah.

Here are some ayat (verses) from the Holy Qur’an that mentions that Bani Israel (Jews) had a habit of changing or distorting God’s words to suit themselves.
Eisa (Jesus – peace be upon him) condemned the Jews for the same reasons as what you are about to read.
[b:ecaf56e14c]We ordained for the Children of Israel that whoever kills a person, except as a punishment for murder or mischief in the land, it will be written in his book of deeds as if he had killed all the human beings on the surface of the Earth and whoever will save a life shall be regarded as if he gave life to all the human beings on the surface of the Earth. Yet, even though Our Rasools came to them one after the other with clear revelations, it was not long before, many of them committed excesses in the land.[/b:ecaf56e14c] 5.32
[b:ecaf56e14c]The Jews say: Allah's hand is tied up! - Nay! Their own hands will be tied up and they will be cursed for what they utter. Both of His hands are free; However, He spends as He pleases. The fact is that the revelations that have come to you from Allah will surely make many of them increase in their wickedness and unbelief. We have stirred among them enmity and hatred till the Day of Resurrection. Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah extinguishes it. Now they are striving to spread mischief in the land. Allah does not love those who do mischief.[/b:ecaf56e14c] 5.64
[b:ecaf56e14c]The Jews say: "The Christians are not on the right track," and the Christians say: "It is the Jews who are not on the right track," yet both read their Holy Books (Torah or Gospel). And those who have no knowledge of their Holy Books say like to what both of them say; so Allah will judge between them in their dispute on the Day of Judgment. [/b:ecaf56e14c] 2.113
[b:ecaf56e14c]When they are asked to believe in what Allah has revealed, they reply: "we only believe in what Allah has sent to us (Torah), and we reject what is beside that," while it is the truth confirming their own scriptures! Ask them, "if you sincerely believe in what was sent to you , why did you kill the Prophets of Allah who were sent to you from amongst yourselves before?"[/b:ecaf56e14c] 2.91
[b:ecaf56e14c]Even after that, they broke their covenant; as a result, We laid on them Our curse and hardened their hearts. They tempered with words out of their context and neglected much of what they were enjoined. You will always find most of them deceitful except for a few of them. Yet forgive them and overlook their misdeeds. Allah loves those who are kind to others. [/b:ecaf56e14c]5.13
[b:ecaf56e14c]Among the Jews there are some who take the words out of their context and utter them with a twist of their tongues to slander the true Deen (faith) and say: "We hear and we disobey;" and "Hear, may you (O Muhammad) hear nothing!" And "Ra'ina" (an ambiguous word meaning: "listen, may you become deaf," or "our shepherd," or "in judeo-Arabic language conveying the sense of "our evil one"). If only they had said: "We hear and we obey;" and "Hear us;" and "Unzurna ("look upon us," or " pay attention to us"): it would have been better for them and more proper. Due to all this Allah has cursed them for their unbelief. In fact with the exception of a few, they have no faith.[/b:ecaf56e14c] 4.46
[b:ecaf56e14c]O Rasool! Do not grieve for those who plunge headlong into unbelief; those who say with their tongues: We believe, but have no faith in their hearts; and do not grieve for those Jews, who listen to lies and spy for other people who had never come to you. They tamper with the words of Allah and take them out of their context and say: "If you are given such and such commandment, accept it; but if it is other than this, reject it." If Allah intends to put anyone to trial, you have no authority in the least to save him from Allah. Such people are those whose hearts Allah does not desire to purify; they will have humiliation in this world and a grievous punishment in the Hereafter. [/b:ecaf56e14c] 5.41
[b:ecaf56e14c]Those people have not valued the attributes of Allah, the way His attributes should be valued, who say: "Allah has never revealed anything to a human being." Ask them: "Who then sent down the Book (Torah) which Musa brought, a light and guidance for mankind? You have transcribed it on separate sheets, publishing some and suppressing much of that given knowledge, which neither you nor your forefathers previously possessed." If they do not answer, then just say: "Allah" and leave them alone with the discourse of their useless arguments. [/b:ecaf56e14c] 6.91
[b:ecaf56e14c]The example of those who were charged with the Taurat, but failed to carry out their obligations, is that of a donkey who is carrying books and does not know what is in those books. Bad is the example of those who deny the revelations of Allah. Allah does not guide the wrongdoers.[/b:ecaf56e14c] 62.5
[b:ecaf56e14c]Indeed We revealed the Taurat to Moses, in which there is guidance and light: By its laws, all the Prophets, who were Muslims, judged those who call themselves Jews and so did the rabbis and jurists of law. They were entrusted the protection of Allah's Book and they themselves were witnesses. Have no fear of people; fear Me, and do not sell My revelations for a petty price: those who do not judge by the law which Allah has revealed, are indeed kafirs (unbelievers).[/b:ecaf56e14c] 5.44

Alhamdulallad, I want you all to know that I have accepted Islam in my heart. It may be years before I utter the Shahadah, for I still have much to learn, and have difficulties since I still reside with my family. I ask for your prayers and your support. Thank you.

Bismillahir-rahmanir-raheem
As-salaamu alaykum wa rahmat-Allaahi wa barakaatuhu
Akhees & Ukhtees.....Need your advice.....and hopefully on-going assistance.
My arabic friends are very knowledgeable in deen but they are computer illiterate. I'm not much smarter as regards computers. And I possess nil or next to nil grasp of the arabic language.
We want to create an 'arabic' forum with maybe a couple of 'english forums' to make it multi-lingual and give me a feeling of involvement.
They just want to post and reply and police the threads for content and leave the bulk of admin stuff up to me. So we need a package that's got english controls so I can see what I'm doing and arabic in most of the forum rooms.....and 'free'?
Can you help with where we can find a 'Do-it-Yourself' Forum kit.....that doesn't need a degree in computer science to operate.....but is modern and visually stimulating so as to still attract members?
What do I do? I don't know where to start.
Mutawakkil
Wassalaamu alaykum

Doubts of a Non-Muslim |

Hello. I am considering converting to Islam one day. My big problem is that I'm never sure if I'm ready. How can I know if I know enough about Islam for a conversion to be sensible. I also have issues, as many do, with my family. I'm not sure if Islam is right for me becuase I don't necessarily agree with all of the rules. For instance, I'm not sure if I believe the hijab should be obligatory. Wearing a hijab would be very difficult for me becuase I am an American and a Westerner. I also don't agree with polygamy, or death by stoning for adultery. If anyone has any suggestions, please reply to this.

JESUS - as he is written in The Holy Qur'an |

For those who have come seeking truth here are some texts from [b:df5ac948bb]The Holy Qur'an[/b:df5ac948bb] where [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb] (Eisa in arabic) - 'Peace be upon him' is mentioned.
<span>[b:df5ac948bb]JESUS IN THE QUR'AN[/b:df5ac948bb][/color:df5ac948bb][/size:df5ac948bb]</span>
<span>[al-Baqarah 2:87.24] And verily We gave unto Moses the Scripture and We caused a train of messengers to follow after him, and We gave unto [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb], son of Mary, clear proofs (of Allah's sovereignty), and We supported him with the Holy spirit. Is it ever so, that, when there cometh unto you a messenger (from Allah) with that which ye yourselves desire not, ye grow arrogant, and some ye disbelieve and some ye slay ?</span>
<span>[al-Baqarah 2:136.36] Say (O Muslims): We believe in Allah and that which is revealed unto us and that which was revealed unto Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes, and that which Moses and [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb] received, and that which the prophets received from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and unto Him we have surrendered. </span>
<span>[al-Baqarah 2:253.36] Of those messengers, some of whom We have caused to excel others, and of whom there are some unto whom Allah spake, while some of them He exalted (above others) in degree; and We gave J[b:df5ac948bb]esus[/b:df5ac948bb], son of Mary, clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty) and We supported him with the holy Spirit. And if Allah had so willed it, those who followed after them would not have fought one with another after the clear proofs had come unto them. But they differed, some of them believing and some disbelieving. And if Allah had so willed it, they would not have fought one with another; but Allah doeth what He will.</span>
<span> [Al-Imran 3:45.25] Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! God giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be Christ [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb], the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those nearest to God; </span>
<span>[Al-Imran 3:52.3] But when [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb] became conscious of their disbelief, he cried: Who will be my helpers in the cause of Allah ? The disciples said: We will be Allah's helpers. We believe in Allah, and bear thou witness that we have surrendered (unto Him).</span>
<span> [Al-Imran 3:55.7] (And remember) when Allah said: O [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb]! Lo! I am gathering thee and causing thee to ascend unto Me, and am cleansing thee of those who disbelieve and am setting those who follow thee above those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then unto Me ye will (all) return, and I shall judge between you as to that wherein ye used to differ.</span>
<span> [Al-Imran 3:59.5] Lo! the likeness of [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb] with Allah is as the likeness of Adam. He created him of dust, then He said unto him: Be! and he is.</span>
<span> [an-Nisa' 4:157.10] And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah, [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb] son of Mary, Allah's messenger - they slew him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they slew him not for certain.</span>
<span> [an-Nisa' 4:171.22] O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning Allah save the truth. The Messiah, [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb] son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His Word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers, and say not "Three" - Cease! (it is) better for you! - Allah is only One God. Far is it removed from His Transcendent Majesty that He should have a son. His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as Defender.</span>
<span>[al-Ma'idah 5:46.4] And We caused [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb], son of Mary, to follow in their (previous prophets) footsteps, confirming that which was (revealed) before him in the Torah, and We bestowed on him the Gospel wherein is guidance and a light, confirming that which was (revealed) before it in the Torah - a guidance and an admonition unto those who ward off (evil).</span>
<span> [al-Ma'idah 5:110.5- 5:111] When Allah saith: O [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb], son of Mary! Remember My favour unto thee and unto thy mother; how I strengthened thee with the holy Spirit, so that thou spakest unto mankind in the cradle as in maturity; and how I taught thee the Scripture and Wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and how thou didst shape of clay as it were the likeness of a bird by My permission, and didst blow upon it and it was a bird by My permission, and thou didst heal him who was born blind and the leper by My permission; and how thou didst raise the dead by My permission; and how I restrained the Children of Israel from (harming) thee when thou camest unto them with clear proofs, and those of them who disbelieved exclaimed: This is naught else than mere magic; And when I revealed to the disciples, saying, Believe in Me and My apostle, they said: We believe and bear witness that we submit (ourselves).</span>
<span> [al-Ma'idah 5:116.6] And when Allah saith: O [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb], son of Mary! Didst thou say unto mankind: Take me and my mother for two gods beside Allah ? he saith: Be glorified! It was not mine to utter that to which I had no right. If I used to say it, then Thou knewest it. Thou knowest what is in my mind, and I know not what is in Thy Mind. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Knower of Things Hidden ?</span>
<span> [ash-Shura 42:13.31] He hath ordained for you that religion which He commended unto Noah, and that which We inspire in thee (Muhammad), and that which We commended unto Abraham and Moses and [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb], saying: Establish the religion, and be not divided therein. Dreadful for the idolaters is that unto which thou callest them. Allah chooseth for Himself whom He will, and guideth unto Himself him who turneth (toward Him).</span>
<span> [az-Zukhruf 43:63.2] When [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb] came with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), he said: I have come unto you with wisdom, and to make plain some of that concerning which ye differ. So keep your duty to Allah, and obey me.</span>
<span> [al-Hadid 57:27.14] Then We caused Our messengers to follow in their footsteps; and We caused [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb], son of Mary, to follow, and gave him the Gospel, and placed compassion and mercy in the hearts of those who followed him. But monasticism they invented - We ordained it not for them - only seeking Allah's pleasure, and they observed it not with right observance. So We give those of them who believe their reward, but many of them are evil-livers.</span>
<span> [as-Saff 61:6.3] And when [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb] son of Mary said: O Children of Israel! Lo! I am the messenger of Allah unto you, confirming that which was (revealed) before me in the Torah, and bringing good tidings of a messenger who cometh after me, whose name is the Praised One. Yet when he hath come unto them with clear proofs, they say: This is mere magic.</span>
<span> [al-Ma'idah 5:17.12] They indeed have disbelieved who say: Lo! Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary. Say: Who then can do aught against Allah, if He had willed to destroy the Messiah son of Mary, and his mother and everyone on earth ? Allah's is the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. He createth what He will. And Allah is Able to do all things.</span>
<span> [al-Ma'idah 5:72.11] They surely disbelieve who say: Lo! Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary. The Messiah (himself) said: O Children of Israel, worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. Lo! whoso ascribeth partners unto Allah, for him Allah hath forbidden paradise. His abode is the Fire. For evil-doers there will be no helpers.</span>
<span> [al-Ma'idah 5:75.3] The Messiah, son of Mary, was no other than a messenger, messengers (the like of whom) had passed away before him. And his mother was a saintly woman. And they both used to eat (earthly) food. See how We make the revelations clear for them, and see how they are turned away!</span>
<span> [at-Taubah 9:31.16] They have taken as lords beside Allah their rabbis and their monks and the Messiah son of Mary, when they were bidden to worship only One God. There is no God save Him. Be He Glorified from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)!</span>
<span>[al-Mu'minun 23:50.5] And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and We gave them refuge on a height, a place of flocks and watersprings.</span>
<span> [as-Saff 61:14.11] O ye who believe! Be Allah's helpers, even as [b:df5ac948bb]Jesus[/b:df5ac948bb] son of Mary said unto the disciples: Who are my helpers for Allah ? They said: We are Allah's helpers. And a party of the Children of Israel believed, while a party disbelieved. Then We strengthened those who believed against their foe, and they became the uppermost.</span>
<span> [an-Nisa' 4:159] There is not one of the People of the Scripture but will believe in him [[b:df5ac948bb]jesus[/b:df5ac948bb]] before his death, and on the Day of Resurrection he will be a witness against them.</span>
