  The Emperor and The Seed

The Emperor and The Seed

By Author Unknown

An emperor in the Far East was growing old and knew it was time to choose his successor. Instead of choosing one of his assistants or his children, he decided something different. He called young people in the kingdom together one day. He said, "It is time for me to step down and choose the next emperor. I have decided to choose one of you."

The kids were shocked! But the emperor continued. "I am going to give each one of you a seed today. One very special seed. I want you to plant the seed, water it and come back here after one year from today with what you have grown from this one seed. I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next emperor!"

One boy named Ling was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly told his mother the story. She helped him get a pot and planting soil, and he planted the seed and watered it carefully. Every day he would water it and watch to see if it had grown.

After about three weeks, some of the other youths began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow.

Ling kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew. 3 weeks, 4 weeks, 5 weeks went by. Still nothing. By now, others were talking about their plants but Ling didn't have a plant, and he felt like a failure. Six months went by, still nothing in Ling's pot. He just knew he had killed his seed.

Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Ling didn't say anything to his friends, however. He just kept waiting for his seed to grow.

A year finally went by and all the youths of the kingdom brought their plants to the emperor for inspection. Ling told his mother that he wasn't going to take an empty pot. But honest about what happened, Ling felt sick to his stomach, but he knew his mother was right. He took his empty pot to the palace. When Ling arrived, he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by the other youths. They were beautiful in all shapes and sizes. Ling put his empty pot on the floor and many of the other kinds laughed at him. A few felt sorry for him and just said, "Hey nice try."

When the emperor arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted the young people. Ling just tried to hide in the back. "What great plants, trees and flowers you have grown," said the emperor.

"Today, one of you will be appointed the next emperor!" All of a sudden, the emperor spotted Ling at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered his guards to bring him to the front. Ling was terrified. "The emperor knows I'm a failure! Maybe he will have me killed!"

When Ling got to the front, the Emperor asked his name. "My name is Ling," he replied. All the kids were laughing and making fun of him.

The emperor asked everyone to quiet down. He looked at Ling, and then announced to the crowd, "Behold your new emperor! His name is Ling!"

Ling couldn't believe it. Ling couldn't even grow his seed. How could he be the new emperor?

Then the emperor said, "One year ago today, I gave everyone here a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds, which would not grow. All of you, except Ling, have brought me trees and plants and flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Ling was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new emperor!"

If you plant honesty, you will reap trust.

If you plant goodness, you will reap friends.

If you plant humility, you will reap greatness.

If you plant perseverance, you will reap victory.

If you plant consideration, you will reap harmony.

If you plant hard work, you will reap success.

If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation.

If you plant openness, you will reap intimacy.

If you plant patience, you will reap improvements.

If you plant faith, you will reap miracles.

But

If you plant dishonesty, you will reap distrust.

If you plant selfishness, you will reap loneliness.

If you plant pride, you will reap destruction.

If you plant envy, you will reap trouble.

If you plant laziness, you will reap stagnation.

If you plant bitterness, you will reap isolation.

If you plant greed, you will reap loss.

If you plant gossip, you will reap enemies.

If you plant worries, you will reap wrinkles.

If you plant sin, you will reap guilt.

So be careful what you plant now, It will determine what you will reap tomorrow, The seeds you now scatter, Will make life worse or better, your life or the ones who will come after. Yes, someday, you will enjoy the fruits, or you will pay for the choices you plant today.

Nubaih b Wahb reported that the eyes of Umar b. Ubaidnllah b. Ma'mar were swollen, and he decided to use antimony. Aan b. 'Uthman forbade him to do so and commanded him to apply aloes on them, and reported on the authority of 'Uthman b. Affan that the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) had done that.

I am not a muslim, but I try to be respectful of all faiths. I do have a question, related to Abdul Rahman

Many have said that the Qu'ran requires that a Muslim that leaves the faith be killed, yet Surah 2:256, Surah 16:82, Surah 42:48, and Surah 88:21-22 seem to me to indicate that even the Prophet was only to tell people what Allah wanted; he was not to force them to believe. If the Prophet was not permitted to kill people that left the faith, what is there in the Qu'ran that authorizes, much less compels, others to do so.

Cleaning my teeth this morning I glanced at the ingredients of my mouthwash. It contains Alcohol.

Now does this mean muslims can't use it, or is it ok because you don't actually swallow it, just rinse and spit?

  HELL
Posted by: Faris_Mee - 03-25-2006, 10:26 PM - Forum: "And remind for reminding benefit the believers - Replies (1)

Fear of Allah (subhanahu wa ta`ala - may He be glorified and exalted) was a highly motivating factor in me renouncing christianity and submitting to the Rabb of the Worlds.

So I'd like to share with you some quotes, commentaries etc on <b> HELL
</b> just in case someone one day is reading this and Allah (subhanahu wa ta`ala - may He be glorified and exalted) opens the reader's heart for it to enter. Ameen.

Firstly, from <i>'Tanbih ul-Ghafilin' (Informing the Heedless)</i>, by the Imam Abul-Layth Nasr as-Samarqandi (The narrations are from Sahabah and Tabi'in).

From the chapter on <i>'The Fire and Its People'...</i>

There was a man whose tears would not stop rolling from his eyes. He would keep weeping until he was finally asked why he was in this state, so he answered: "If Allah - the Exalted - had promised me that if I commit a sin, he would imprison me in a bathroom forever, then it would be appropriate for me to never stop crying. So, how should it be considering that He has promised that He would imprison me in a fire that has been burning for over three thousand years?"

............................

It was said: "Verily, Hell has a pathway filled with snakes that are as thick as the trunks of trees and scorpions that are like blackened beasts. The peope of Hell will escape from the Fire to these snakes, so these snakes will grab them by their lips and peel away everything from their hair to their fingernails, and nothing can save them from this except to jump back into the Fire."

......................

It was said: "Verily, the people of Hell will call out to one of the angels guarding it, and he will not answer them for forty years. Then, he will say to them: [/b] Then, they will call upon their Lord: <b>{"Our Lord! Take us out of it (Hell), and if we were to return, then we would indeed be wrong-doers!"} [al-Mu'minun; 107]</b>, and the amount of time that He will wait without answering them will be equal to twice the amount of time that the World existed. Then, He will say to them: <b>{"Remain in it forever, and do not speak to Me."} [al-Mu'minun; 108]</b> By Allah, after this, the people will not speak a single word, and there will not be except the inhalation and exhalation of the Hell-Fire, and their voices will be like those of screaming donkeys inbetween the inhalations and exhalations of the Fire." The narrator of this athar (who was one of the Tabi'in) commented by saying: "O people! Do you have the capacity to withstand this? Are you patient enough to withstand this? O people! Obedience to Allah is easier upon you than this, so obey Him!"

..................

It was narrated: "Verily, the people of the Fire will be tortured for one thousand years, then they will say: "During our lives, if we were patient, we were eventually given a way out of our troubles." So, they will be patient for one thousand more years without their punishment being lightened for them. Then, they will say: <b>{"It does not matter whether we rage or patiently endure; we have no place of refuge."} [ibrahim; 21]</b> Then, they will call upon Allah - the Exalted - for one thousand years to send some rain upon them out of their extreme thirst and intense torture so that they would be relieved of the intense temperatures and extreme thirst. So, after they supplicate for one thousand years, Allah - the Exalted - will say to Jibril: <b>"What do they ask for?" </b> Jibril will answer: "O Lord, You are more Knowing of them. They ask for rain." So, red clouds will appear above them, and they will think that rain will pour from these clouds. Instead, blackened scorpions will pour down upon them, one sting of which throbs with pain for over one thousand years. Then, they will again ask Allah - the Exalted - for one thousand years to provide them with rain, and then black clouds will appear above them. They will say: "These are rain clouds!" But instead, snakes like the necks of camels will pour out of the clouds, one bite of which throbs with pain for over one thousand years, and this is the meaning of the saying of the Exalted: <b>{"We will add torment upon torment for them because of the corruption that they used to perform."} [an-Nahl; 88]."</b>

  The Mercy of Islam
Posted by: Faris_Mee - 03-24-2006, 06:56 PM - Forum: Discussion of Beliefs - Replies (15)

Just a quick note on Islam and common comments made by christians about their faith.

A day or 2 ago someone joined the forum and proceeded to post vile pornographic material in the site.

A comment was made "he/she is not a christian". This is a common response by those defending their faith.

All Praise and thanks to Allah that our religion is one of mercy. If a muslim were to do something like that it would be a sin but not grounds for expulsion from the religion. Even if he were to slay a million people it would not expell him from the mercy of Allah. He would probably be in big trouble, but he's still muslim. Only Allah can judge.

In fact if we are to ever call a muslim a kafir (non-believer) on the day of Judgement that "hat" will sit on someone's head. If the brother we call a "kafir" turns out to be true - o.k. But if it be untrue then we will be labelled the kafir (unbeliever). Scary stuff.

Didn't Jesus warned the 'followers of the way' that if they call their brother a fool they themselves are in danger of the fire of hell?

This is the grounds for expulsion from Allah's mercy -

<b><i>Surely Allah does not forgive shirk (associating any partner with Him - e.g. Jesus); and may forgive sins other than that if He so pleases. This is because one who commits shirk with Allah, does indeed invent a great sinful lie. 4.48</i></b>

Bismillah

Regardless of being a Muslim or not, regardless of our multiple differences specially with our non Muslim member. But we still remain in a way or another part of the same group. I d like very much thru this thread try to bestow the sense of personal ownership even to the non Muslim members whom I m sure will be as upset as us muslims from what i m about to tell u all here.

First let me tell you why I posted this thread:

http://www.islamsms.com/bb//index.php?showtopic=3328

I wanted to introduce the amount of hate spelled out of the mouths of non Muslims in a way that really went off limits. Our only crime is that we say Only One Allah and Mohamed is the messenger and Prophet and Jesus is a Messenger and Prophet. i wasnt in a way aiming to refute even or make any responses, as my brother naseeha said, we dont need to really run around the places refuting whoever feels like making controversial statements for whatever reasons they may be. Although i said yes we may respond and even posted a file. But that was for totally a different purpose.

Any way before u all get bored with me here, as u all know a year ago we had a member who registered with an extremely offensive screen name, which made us change our policy into putting the new registerations on validation till admin approves them. Recently, my brother mohsie joined as admin and informed me that there was a member who registered under a somehow strange name and that he didnt approve him till we discuss. To tell you the truth, I wanted to see what was the aim of this person. I approved him, and u know what? on his first post, he titled his thread in a very vulgar language, he posted prono, he directed threats...etc.

I mean what is all this about? and everybody is running around complaining about Muslims attitude. Have u ever seen a Muslim who registered on a Hindu board (mind u all I think by now all memebers specially non Muslims exactly know how Islam perceives other religions) and for example deliberately made offensive posts, threats, insulting..etc. No. Have u seen Muslims scholars making such open hostile statements just exactly as this evangilist? NO. Why all this hate?

Because Allah Say so in Quran:

"You shall certainly be tried and tested in your wealth and properties and in your personal selves, and you shall certainly hear much that will grieve you from those who received the Scripture before you (Jews and Christians) and from those who ascribe partners to Allah, but if you persevere patiently, and become pious then verily, that will be a determining factor in all affairs, and that is from the great matters, [which you must hold on with all your efforts]." (Quran 3:186)

Truth Sayer Is Allah, Alhamdulelah for being Muslims

And may Allah Handle such people the way they deserve ameen
