  harsh punishment

Hadith » Riyad as-Salihin » Harsh punishment of someone who commands right or forbids wrong while his own actions contradict what he says

24. Chapter: On the harsh punishment of someone who commands right or forbids wrong while his own actions contradict what he says

Allah Almighty says, "Do you order people to devoutness and forget yourselves, when you recite the Book? Will you not use your intellect?" (W2:43; W2:44)

and the Almighty says, "O you who believe! Why do you say that what you do not do? It is deeply abhorrent to Allah that you should say what you do not do." (61:2-3)

The Almighty says, "I would clearly not want to go behind your backs and do something I have forbidden you to do." (11:88)

198. Abu Zayd Usama ibn Zayd ibn Haritha said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, 'A man will be brought on the Day of Rising and thrown into the Fire and the intestines of his belly will come out and he will be dragged round by them as the donkey goes round the mill. The people of the Fire will gather round him and say, "So-and-so! What has happened to you? Did you not command the right and forbid the wrong?" He will say, "Yes. I used to command the right and forbid the wrong and then do it."'" [Agreed upon]

Schoolgirl loses right to wear Muslim garb

By Gideon Long

LONDON (Reuters) - A girl lost a legal battle on Wednesday to be allowed to wear full Islamic dress in school in a case which has been likened to the row in France over the wearing of Muslim headscarves.

Shabina Begum, now 17, was sent home from school in September 2002 and ordered to change her clothes after she turned up wearing a jilbab, a long gown which covers the whole body except for the hands and face.

She successfully appealed against the school's decision in March 2005 when the Appeal Court ruled her human rights had been breached by the ban.

Her case was championed by Cherie Booth, wife of Prime Minister Tony Blair and a prominent human rights lawyer.

But Begum's school, Denbigh High in Luton, itself appealed against last year's decision and on Wednesday was backed by the House of Lords.

The Lords said Begum's family knew what the school's uniform policy was when they sent her there and should have enrolled her at a different school if they objected to it.

Begum said she was disappointed by the verdict but proud to have taken issue with a ban which she and others among the country's 1.6-million-strong Muslim population regarded as a fundamental breach of their rights.

"Obviously I am saddened and upset at the result but I am glad that I can now move on, having made a stand to speak out against this," said Begum, who was in the House of Lords to hear the decision. She has since left the school.

"EXCELLENT NEWS"

Denbigh High said it was pleased with the verdict while Luton Council, which had backed the school, described it as "excellent news".

"We are pleased that Denbigh High has finally been vindicated," the council said in a statement. "The school has always adopted an inclusive uniform policy that satisfies the religious needs and cultural backgrounds of its pupils."

Muslim groups were dismayed by the ruling.

"On a matter of principle we are disappointed," said Tahir Alam, education spokesman for the Muslim Council of Britain, the country's largest Muslim lobby group.

"There are lots of schools across the country which allow the jilbab and this issue should have been resolved at a local level. It's unfortunate that it's gone through the courts."

The case, which has rumbled on for 3-1/2 years, has drawn comparisons with the furore in France triggered by a ban on Muslim headscarves in state schools.

France banned all conspicuous religious clothing, including headscarves, Jewish skullcaps and large Christian crosses.

The move sparked angry protests across the Islamic world.

  a trick on the man
Posted by: jameela - 03-22-2006, 01:58 AM - Forum: "And remind for reminding benefit the believers - No Replies

Let us play a trick on the man....

A young man, a student in one of the universities, was one day taking a walk with a Professor, who was commonly called the student's friend, from his kindness to those who waited on his instructions.

As they went along, they saw lying in the path a pair of old shoes, which they supposed to belong to a poor man who was employed in a field close by,and who had nearly finished his day's work.

The student turned to the professor, saying: "Let us play the man a trick: we will hide his shoes, and conceal ourselves behind those bushes, and wait to see his perplexity when he cannot find them."

“My young friend," answered the professor, "we should never amuse ourselves at the expense of the poor. But you are rich, and may give yourself a much greater pleasure by means of this poor man. Put a coin in each shoe, and then we will hide ourselves and watch how this affects him."

The student did so and they both placed themselves behind the bushes close by. The poor man soon finished his work, and came across the field to the path where he had left his coat and shoes.

While putting on his coat he slipped his foot into one of his shoes, but feeling something hard, he stooped down to feel what it was, and found the coin. Astonishment and wonder were seen upon his countenance. He gazed upon the coin, turned it around, and looked at it again and again.

He then looked around him on all sides, but no person was to be seen. He now put the money into his pocket, and proceeded to put on the other shoe; but his surprise was doubled on finding the other coin.

His feelings overcame him; he fell upon his knees, looked up to heaven and uttered aloud a fervent thanksgiving in which he spoke of his wife who was sick and helpless, and his children without bread, whom this timely bounty, from some unknown hand, would save from perishing.

The student stood there deeply affected, and his eyes filled with tears. "Now," said the professor, are you not much better pleased than if you had played your intended trick?"

The youth replied, "You have taught me a lesson which I will never forget.

I feel now the truth of these words, which I never understood before:

"It's more blessed to give than to receive."

*******************************

Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas(R.A.) reported that the Prophet(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) said that encouraging good, prohibiting evil, lifting the burden of the weak person and removing an offensive thing from a path are all acceptable prayers to Allah. (IBN MAJAH)

Test Of Faith - Let's See Who You Really Are!
Posted by: amma - 03-21-2006, 10:35 PM - Forum: Usama - Replies (1)

Test Of Faith - Let's See Who You Really Are!

Read the following questions and tick the appropriate one. This will give you an idea of what kind of a Muslim you really are:

A rude scene comes on Telly while you’re sat with your family. Do you…

A-Rush for the remote, switch off the telly, whilst muttering under your breath “ASTAGFIRULLAH”, I can’t believe the amount of filth they show. This is what we get from living in a kufr society”

B-Become embarrassed and quickly change the channel.

C-You watch the Telly from the corner of your eye.

A very rude scene comes on Telly again, your family is not in the room with you. Do you…

A-Rush for the remote, switch off the telly, whilst muttering under your breath “ASTAGFIRULLAH”, I can’t believe the amount of filth they show…..”

B-You change the channel.

C-You’re unable to look away from the telly and have one eye on the TV and one on the door, ready to change the channel if anyone comes in the room!

A fit boy/girl that you know makes a pass at you.

A- Say how dare he/she, you grass them up to their parents!

B- Politely but firmly refuse, reminding them that this is against the teachings of Islam.

C-Tell them that that this was the moment you had always dreamed about and ask him/her what took them so long

Your mates telling you about his/her new undercover romance.

A- Angrily say how dare he/she, you grass them up to their parents, you tell your parents and you tell the Imaam at your mosque!

B-You remind them this is against the teachings of Islam, and urge them to finish their relationship.

C- Your fascinated by their story-you even take notes for your own romance. You tell your friend this story could be a blockbuster in an Indian movie!

You Are a girl/boy and your walking down the road and see a large group of boys/girls.

A- Walk up to the crowd and say they are intermixing and it is Haram.

B-You cross over the road early on, and cross back when you’ve passed the crowd.

C-You walk through the crowd slowly saying “Easy boys/girls” giving them all the eye.

Your friend invites you to a late night mixed party.

A- Go crazy and shout ASTAGFIRULLAH, you get on the phone to your friends, turn up at the party and gatecrash it and start preaching!

B-You tell them that you couldn’t possibly be present in such an anti-Islamic party and as a mate you tell him/her that they shouldn’t really be going either.

C-You’re the first to arrive and the last to leave.

You are a girl and your mum tells you that your clothes are too tight or revealing.

A- Say Thank God she told you, you change your clothes and burn the revealing outfit.

B- You put on a long cardigan/coat.

C-You put on a coat, which you take off as soon as you leave the house!

Your friends wants you to cover up for them whilst they go out to meet their boyfriend/girlfriend.

A- Shout 'ASTAGFIRULLAH how dare you', grass them up to their parents and even tell your Imaam at the mosque to speak to his/her parents!

B-You refuse to get involved.

C-You remind them that it is their turn to cover for your undercover romance.

Your friends are telling you a rude joke.

A- You give them a long lecture and tell them how disgusting they are.

B-You do your best not to smile or laugh, in case you encourage them.

C-You tell him/her that you already know this joke and tell them an even ruder one.

The summer temperature is unbearable. What do you wear?

A-Black scarf/black Niqab/thick black stockings and gloves and if you’re a boy you wear what you wear all year round.

B-Usual Hijaab but in a lighter colour or if you’re a boy summer clothes that fit Islamic dress code.

C-Sun cream and nothing else.

Mostly A’s

You seriously need to chill!

Islam is not meant to be as strict as you’re making it out to be. Remember that Islam is a religion of moderation and is better spread through kind words and actions than by a black-and-white, zero-tolerance approach. Your attitude will make people run away from Islam!

Mostly B’s

You’re a Moderate Muslim.

Wow! It seems like you’ve managed to strike the perfect balance. You know from ‘right and wrong’ and you don’t enforce your views on others or judge them. You use wisdom in your approach.

Mostly C’s

Shame On You!!!

If you have no shame then do as you wish, it does seem as if you’re doing as you wish. I suggest you go and read up on the modesty showed by our Prophet (saw) and the modest religious men and women in Islam. Modesty and shame is an important branch of Islam, if you’re lacking in modesty then your lacking in Islam too. You need to sort yourself out and purify your inner-self.

NONE OF THE ABOVE

If most of your answers don’t fit A, B or C then that means you’re not a radical or a shameless person but at the same time you’re not a guy/girl who fully follows and practices the teachings of Islam. You need to improve yourself and try to be like B.

A Red Rose Just For

The picture is taken by the NASA Hubble space Telescope of one of the most complex planetary nebula ever seen, NGC 6543, nicknamed the "Cats Eye Nebula".

It is an exploding star 3000 light years away. The nebula is a visual "fossil record" of the dynamics and the late evolution of a dying star. It was first viewed on 31st October 1999. The Qur'an mentioned it almost 1400 years ago:

"When the sky is torn apart, so it was (like) a red rose, like ointment." (Chapter 55, verse 37. Surah Ar-Rahmaan)

Is there heaven for a G?

Is there heaven for a G?

Are you a gangster wannabe?

Gangsterism means the way of life of a gangster. The word isn’t used much though, especially not by gangsters. Some don’t wish to call their way of life anything whilst others make a song and dance about it by using catchy words like ‘Thug Life’ and M.O.B or call themselves playas, pimps, hustlas, souljahs and the list goes on.

Whether it’s the crimes like drugs, robberies, credit card fraud, scams, murders, rapes, violence or it’s the non criminal acts like the lingo, raving, zina, alcohol and swearing etc. Everybody reading this has been affected by Gangsterism. I mean it’s everywhere you go, whether you are a gangster, know of a gangster, seen a gangster, met a gangster or want to be a gangster. You’re all familiar with the phenomenon of Gangsterism.

Today’s gangsters start from the common everyday thug with his/her Gangster garms (that thick massive silver chain which probably cost a tenner from market), weed/snouts, hip hop/garage/bhangra, with a pimped up ride or a crappy stolen car or in the passenger side of one. Robbing phones, swiping cards or doing scams etc.

Moving up to the O G’s of the ‘Hood’ calling the shots and destroying youngsters’ lives and using them for their own set ups. Then you have the national mafia’s with their imports and exports, organized crime and involvement in legitimate businesses.

Why would you want to be a gangster?

- You want to be in with the rest of the crowd. The crowd is into 50 Cent, Tu Pac tunes + Al Pacino gangster movies (no disrespect to the talented actor) and imitating their characters- so you’ll do the same.

-It helps make you popular and get friends if you’re a respected gangster. Respect is earned quicker by being a gangster.

- It’ll really bring you the high life — money, cars and lots of girls.

- People won’t pick on/bully you if you’re in control and they’re scared of you.

- You could finally get that girl you’ve always fancied if she sees that you’re a gangster.

- Life is bad. You’ve got no money. Parents are always fighting/separated or too strict on you so T.V and Music become you’re best friends and they tell you to rebel. So you’re gonna become a gangster.

- You need to join a gang otherwise you can’t do anything to deter racist attacks.

- You really believe that society has failed/is failing with its general set up so you’re gonna live by gangster rules to rebel against the system and live according to a code and system of rules that suits you.

- The area you live in is run by gangsters on the street so you wanna represent yourself, family or people on the streets.

- You wanna be a gangster to protect yourself from other gangsters.

- You need to make the easy money cos you’re naturally too [banned word]/lazy to qualify as anything professional and education is too hard for you.
