Mischief’s (indicating the author herself—noted by translator) family is a traditional Muslim one. Grandpa didn’t practice religion well until he made a hajj to Mecca (Before grandpa found back his iman, he was heavy in smoking and drinking. Later, he started to get to Islam, made up his mind to give up all bad habits such as smoking and drinking, prayed five times a day. Thank Allah, his conditions, such as hyperosteogeny, tracheitis etc., have completely turned better after returning from Mecca. Now, He is as healthy as a newborn and in perfect condition.). Besides, he led the whole family into the path of Islam, and got into the circle of Muslims. Mischief was the only exception. Maybe Mischief was so young, with a little rebellious mentality…Even the family took great pans to reason Mischief, Mischief got nothing but one: “I am a Muslim who should reject pork”; as for others, Mischief just turned a deaf ear. Even Mischief went to an Arabic school to learn Islam in Henan Province to answer my family’s expectations Mischief was so reluctant. As for the three months’ life with hajib on there, it was something like ordeal for Mischief (May Allah forgive Mischief)—Maybe Mischief use strong wording, but things were just like that. If it was not because the pressure from the family and something happened, Mischief would take the entrance exanimation for college and went to some university in home China as others rather then going there to learn Islam specially…after coming back home Chengdu, Mischief lead a life without iman as before.
Mischief hadn’t truly got to Islam until studied abroad…coming a strange country, Mischief had got no friends and no relatives there, further more Mischief couldn’t communicate because of language barrier. Before going to Malaysia, Mischief only knew it is an Islamic country, Mischief’s family also had supposed that Muslim food was easy available there (the author, Mischief, studied business administration in Malaysia, not religion—noted by translator) . For this reason, Mischief was sent to Malaysia slap-happy, going abroad with no more English than ABC (although Mischief had been learning English all along, Mischief didn’t studied carefully and liberal arts were hard for Mischief).
At the beginning, Mischief couldn’t follow what teachers taught, and was not worried. So Mischief developed a habit of “the teachers taught while Mischief slept in class”. Another problem was where to dine after class. The others in the class got along together except Mischief, only a boy who flied to Malaysia on board same plane with Mischief kept Mischief’s company. Both of us were poor in English, we went to KFC for food because there was no need much order there and a menu was placed at cash desk. If only you could understand the pictures, you just pointed out what you wanted then you could have it. But, having meals everyday like that, Mischief was sick of chicken…(even now, Mischief think it pretty awful when recall it)
It was not a short time that Mischief got along with the classmates and made acquaintance with a lot of students from China, with whom Mischief often went to parties, Pub, KTV and disco…they always helped Mischief with all kinds of things, especially looking for accommodation (the former landlord was a Chinese, who had a lot of rules and was very troublesome. How could he stand a girl like Mischief? So that for Mischief living there was not happy.)… Finally, Mischief got a satisfactory one. The landlord was pretty nice. Mischief managed him happy and coaxed him into applying for telephone line for Mischief, by which Mischief could get on line and keep in touch with my family in China…
When in home China, Mischief developed a habit to get on line to read news, to chat on chat-rooms…seldom Mischief visited Islamic websites, except logged in “China Islam on Line (www.islamcn.net)” occasionally. Mischief remembered there was once a time Mischief quarreled with somebody there because of Mischief’s mischief and later feeling it was overly solemn and bored there so that Mischief didn’t visit it again…Quite by accident Mischief came to a Islamic BBS named “Bridge” (www.salamacn.net) and registered a user as “Mischief” out of habit, never went other forums except posted a lot on one of its boards “Fairyland of life”. So amusing to mix with them… in this way, Mischief’s life in Malaysia became rich and gradually Mischief got used to not going out for Pub, KTV, disco and spent time on “Bridge” after the homework was done.
At that time, Mischief hadn’t got to iman, only made fun. Day by day, Mischief made good relations with some old brothers and sisters there from whom Mischief enjoyed a sincerity of Muslim, discovered a serene sky in the complicated society, how pure it was. It was the circle of Muslim…there were no suspicions but care and concern. When they got to know poor Mischief (because Mischief couldn’t cook and always took instant noodles as meals—this was the most awful experience of Mischief) was abroad lonely, they all came to comfort and soothe Mischief. All these made Mischief felt at home when on “Bridge”, got a feeling of a special home. From then on, Mischief always had been missing the family of “Bridge”. After reading all postings on “Fairyland of life”, Mischief was reluctant to leave, so wandered everywhere, went to “Bridge Forum” and other Islamic BBS…read a lot of Islamic postings…from which Mischief comprehended something, after all Mischief was not a child no longer and full of passion to learn…to use Mischief’s own brains to think over whether to accept or not, to take in something valuable…Mischief was taught a little Islamic knowledge by Mischief’s family before and knew a little about Islam…such as having a good meal in mosque on some religious activities (May uncles and aunts don’t spank Mischief as Mischief said so)….and the food was so wonderful in Ramadan…..Mischief only knew these…gradually, from the innermost heart the iman budded( thanks to Allah, He opened Mischief’s eyes)…forwardly Mischief learned something Islamic, asked others if didn’t understand, and liked to chat on Islam with others…in Malaysia, Mischief also made acquaintance with Muslims from other countries, whom used simply English to communicate ideas on Islam with Mischief. Mischief didn’t discover how nice it was to have iman until then…
When Mischief returned home China at the first time, who welcomed Mischief were some Muslim friends. All together we talked about religion. The more they talked, the more Mischief got interested. In order to share more common interest with them, Mischief started to read some Islamic books to enhance Mischief’s knowledge about religion and further got into the circle of true Muslims. (Here, Mischief must express the gratitude to an older Muslim brother in Beijing. It was he, by whom Mischief stepped into a warm and sweet family of true Muslim, and it was he whom made Mischief understood what a Muslimah should do, it was he whom guided Mischief into the right path of Islam…May Allah bless you and your family. Mischief would do duwa for you all…Mischief know he doesn’t get on line so that expresses the gratitude for him here)
Every time Mischief returned home China by way of different cities, meeting many Muslim brothers and sisters whom Mischief had got to knew through Internet. No matter in Beijing, Zhenzhou, Kunming or Guangzhou, Mischief got the feeling of “All Muslims are a family”…. Mischief now have graduated from abroad Malaysia and work home, Insha’ Aallah, Mischief is going to travel around China and visit various Muslim communities after earning some money, to develop religion through internet as well.
Talking so much nonsense, Mischief would like to summarize in a word, that is Mischief’s iman is found back from Internet, this is why Mischief never left “Bridge” as some people do, never…and hang on to it…never think of leaving, because Mischief wandered about at the gate of Islam long before getting into the right path, and Mischief hope other brothers and sisters can find back their own iman soon…Insha’Allah…
Islam is the religion for all human beings…
Maybe Mischief wrote a lot of nonsense, but it is Mischief whom plucked great nerve to write, uncles and aunts, old brothers and sisters don’t laugh at Mischief…nonsense as it may be, it is from the innermost heart of Mischief, Mischief write everything what is remembered, not a single word is phony.
Here, Mischief would like greet everyone with “al-salaam Alaykum”… may Allah bless us all. Insha’Allah.

Road Maps
The original United Nations “Partition Plan” to the Palestinians: You are going to have 47 percent of the 100 percent that was originally yours.
The “Oslo Agreement” to the Palestinians: You are going to have 22 percent of the 100 percent that was originally yours.
Barak’s “generous offer” to the Palestinians: We are going to give you 80 percent of 22 percent of 100 percent of the land that was originally yours.
Sharon’s “Peace Plan” to the Palestinians in 2,000: We are going to give you 42 percent of 80 percent of 22 percent of 100 percent of the land that was originally yours, and this 42 percent will remain under continuous curfew.
“Zionists” to the Palestinians: According to our version of the Bible, you are entitled to 0 percent of 42 percent of 80 percent of 22 percent of 100 percent of the land that was originally yours.
The road map to the Palestinians that President Bush envisions: If you stop your resistance (which we call terrorism) to the occupation, and your refugees give up their right of return to their ancestral homes, and you agree to elect only officials acceptable to Bush and Sharon, and you agree to lock up all your resistance fighters, and you agree to drive your cars only on roads that Sharon assigns for your use, and you do not object to the “wall” that Sharon is building, and you agree not to claim Jerusalem as your capital, and you agree that your children’s school curriculum will include only courses and books approved by the Israeli government, and you agree not to give birth to more than three children per family, then Sharon might consider negotiating with you on the 42 percent of 80 percent of 22 percent of 100 percent of the land that was originally yours.
A fair deal, isn’t it?

Legal Divorce vs. Islamic Divorce |

Legal Divorce vs. Islamic Divorce
Question Dear sheikh, as-salamu `alaykum. If a man has given a woman a legal divorce (i.e., signed divorce papers) but not an Islamic divorce, is her marriage still valid? What should a woman do if her husband refuses to divorce her according to the Islamic Shari`ah?
Answer
Wa `alaykum As-Salamu wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Dear sister in Islam, thank you for your question, which reflects your care to have a clear view of the teachings of Islam. Allah commands Muslims to refer to people of knowledge to become well acquainted with the teachings of Islam in all aspects of life.
First of all, it should be clear that the spouses should avoid divorce as much as possible. If they have difficulties and problems they should be patient and forbearing. They have to try to work out their differences and seek help from their relatives, friends or professional counselors.
However, if all efforts of reconciliation prove failure, and the spouses resort to divorce, as a final solution, they should consider both the legal and Shar`i procedures so as to set the affair to order.
In response to your question, Dr. Muzammil H. Siddiqi, former President of the Islamic Society of North America, states:
“If a man divorced his wife legally according to the US law, then she is also divorced from him according to Islamic law. Once a husband divorces his wife, it is an Islamic divorce, whether he does it by filing a legal document in the court or by saying the words of divorce to her or by writing them for her. It is not correct to say that one is giving a legal divorce and not an Islamic divorce. When a man initiates a divorce legally, it automatically becomes an Islamic divorce.
The problem comes only when a woman takes a legal divorce from the non-Islamic court and her husband refused to give her an Islamic divorce. In this situation she should contact her local Islamic center or some Muslim scholars to see how she can obtain an Islamic divorce.”

The Way to Allâh's Mercy
by Doctor Abû Anas Muhammed Mûsa Nasr
Translated by Isma'îl alarcon
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Source: Al-Asâlah Magazine (No. 21, pg. 17-19)
The Prophet (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) once kissed Al-Hasan Ibn ‘Al î (i.e. his grandson) while Al-Aqra’ Ibn Hâbis was in his presence. So Al-Aqra’ said to him: "You kiss your children. I swear by Allâh, I have ten children and I never kissed any one of them!" So the Prophet (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) said: "He who doesn’t show mercy (to others) will not be shown mercy (by Allâh)."
Verily, mercy - in our religion - encompasses this world and the hereafter, as well as mankind, animals, birds, and the surrounding habitats.
Allâh says: "And My mercy encompasses every thing."
Allâh has described Himself with mercy and He has also described His prophets and righteous servants with it. Allâh says: "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allâh (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) and those who are with him are severe against the disbelievers and merciful to one another."
Allâh has made his sending forth of the Prophet (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) as a mercy to all of creation, as He says: "And We have not sent you (O Muhammad) except as a mercy to the worlds."
The word "worlds" (‘âlamîn) is general and thus includes the world of the humans, the world of the jinn, the world of the animals and the world of the birds, as well as the nations found on land and the nations found on sea.
And indeed Allâh has commanded that mercy be applied to every thing and in every action. So even when you slaughter you sacrificial animal, you show mercy to it by saying Bismillâh and by sharpening your sword (so that it will be a quick and painless death). The Prophet (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) said:
"Verily Allâh has prescribed Ihsân (goodness) for everything. So when you slaughter, then slaughter in a good manner, and when you kill (in war), then kill in a good manner. And let each of you sharpen his blade and let him spare the animal he slaughters from suffering."
And Allâh indeed forgave one prostitute from the Jews who showed mercy to a dog that was dying from thirst. She filled her shoe with water and then taking hold of the dog’s mouth, she gave it the water to drink. So Allâh was thankful to her for what she did and forgave her sins.
And once our Prophet (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) saw one of his Companions grab the baby of a lark, and it began screeching over the heads of the Companions. So he (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) said: "Who bereaved this (lark) of her child? Return her children back to her!"
The more weak and poor a human being is, the more required we are of showing mercy to him. And being gentle with him is what is most incumbent. This is why our Lord has forbidden us from oppressing the orphan. Allâh says: "Therefore, treat not the orphan with oppression. And do not repel the beggar."
The Prophet (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) said: "The person that looks after and supports the widow and the needy one is like the mujâhid (one who makes Jihâd) in the Cause of Allâh."
And he (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) would rub the head of the orphan and say: "I and the guardian of an orphan will be like this in Paradise - and he SAWS gestured with his index and middle finger."
Indeed he (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) commanded us to take care of the children and the women and the elders. Thus, in his last words to his Companions and his nation, he said: "The prayer and what your right hands possess." "Take good care of the women (i.e. wives)." And he (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) said: "The best of you is the best to his wives. And I am the best amongst you with my wives."
Mercy is something innate, which Allâh has placed into the hearts of (all) His creatures, even the lions - the most dangerous of them - for they are merciful to their children. Yet Allâh is more merciful to His creation than a mother is to her child. That is why on the day that He created mercy, He created one hundred parts to it. And He left ninety-nine parts with Him, by which He will show mercy to His servants on the Day of Judgement, and sent down one single part of mercy to earth, which humans and animals share amongst themselves.
The Messenger of Allâh (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) has condemned the person that is void of any mercy and who doesn’t attain a large amount of it. This is why he (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) condemned the one who breaks family ties. He (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) said: "Kinship is connected to the Throne (‘Arsh). It says: ‘Whoever severs me, then break (away from) him. And whoever maintains me, then keep connected to him."
And in one narration:
"Verily, the kinship will be connected to the Throne of the Most Merciful on the Day of Judgement. It will say: ‘This is the place for the one who sought refuge in You from the severing (of family ties).’ So Allâh will say to it: ‘Will it please you that I connect those who maintained you and that I cut off those who severed you?’ And it will say: ‘I will be pleased (with that), my Lord.’"
And he (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) condemned the oppressive leaders who do not show mercy to their people, by saying: "The worst leaders are the cruel oppressive ones (al-hutamah)."
And Allâh has named Himself Ar-Rahmân and Ar-Rahîm, so he is the Most Merciful of this world and the Hereafter (i.e. Ar-Rahmân) and the bestower and giver of mercy (i.e. Rahîm). This is why He has commanded it in every place and in every situation. The Muslim begins his action by saying Bismillâhir-Rahmânir-Rahîm so that Allâh can bless him in his action. So every action that is void of mercy, then there is no blessing in it, nor any good. And the servants of Allâh showing mercy towards one another is a cause for Allâh sending His mercy down on them.
The Prophet (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) said: "The Most Merciful shows mercy to those who have mercy on others. Show mercy to those on earth, and the One above the heaven will show mercy to you."
O Allâh, have mercy on us above the earth and below the earth and on the Day when our deeds will be presented to us. And cause us to be merciful to one another just as the Companions of Your Prophet (sala Allâhu ‘alihi was-Salâm) were. And have mercy on our dead ones and put those who have mercy from amongst Your servants in charge over us O Rahmân O Rahîm!

Days Go By
Nadia Al- Ramahi (14 years old)
Written in Late June 2002
Days go by without hearing you mother...
Every night I gaze at the stars,
That lay peacefully upon the sky,
And wonder... how Allah created
Something that looks so small,
Yet shines so brightly,
From its distance...
I see you when I see that star, mother,
But I do recall a memory,
That has ran through my veins
and pumps within my heart
Since the time, father whispered
Allah's Words during my infancy...
I do recall that night
When clouds blocked my gaze,
And Thunder had driven away
The soothing sounds of the leaves dancing together...
That sound still echoes through me,
And rumbles my nerves until I shiver,
I was nothing more than a child
To understand what happened
That very night,
But if your voice was not heard
To comfort my childhood fears,
Then doom has come forth to us all,
dear mother...
The rain has now descended from your eyes,
I see this... I see all of this,
But why can't I hear you mother?
Days go by without seeing you, father...
Long after I have prayed Fajr,
I watch the sun rise from
Beneath the mighty hilltops,
Half of it is in my eyes,
But the other half is hidden
In some other world
That I would never understand,
I remember your smile when I see the sun, father,
But I do recall a memory
That has brought shame to my heart
The pain, so extreme that it has scarred my body within...
Oh father, I do recall that night
When lightening struck instead
And the wind screamed...
Screamed so loudly
That I sweat to this day, my voice will always remain mute when I speak
of this memory...
Yes, you were taken away from me,
By our enemies,
But your smile speaks otherwise...
And, yes, I did scent Death lingering in the air,
But your smile speaks otherwise...
And, yes, I begged for them to spare you,
But your smile speaks otherwise...
And, yes... they did gather you among more men... And formed a line,
that couldn't end in my eyes,
Nor, to the rest of my people across the country...
Oh, but such fools they are...
For, they only created a Path for the men to,
Inshallah, enter Paradise...
Your smile remains...
Oh father, I run towards the endless rows of men,
To free you from torment and despair,
But stumble upon rocks,
My flesh... ripped from my bones...
A path is formed, as my blood runs down my body,
A path is formed, as my tears drop to the ground,
And the ground, where my brothers stand strongly...
Forms a Path... My Destiny...
I search for you, father,
But notice your picture settled beside my legs,
Stained from my blood,
Damp from your tears,
And raise my head in sorrow, and walk...
As days turned into years, I left from fear
But I was nothing more than a child to understand,
So tell me, father, would you still have smiled?
Days go by without happiness...
Oh father... when you died I walked...
I walked until my blood became still,
And found myself looking at a desert,
This was once where our home stood,
Where you and mother once stood,
Where happiness once stood..
But evil destroyed it...
Their hearts are molted with lava...
That has dried because tears were not shed,
But Anger conquered it,
And turned their hearts into stone,
Have they no pain?
Oh, father, you smiled until the last drop of blood settled onto the
ground... Haven't you any pain?
My heart is shot,
My voice screams...
Oh, mother, you recited until the last breath was exhaled into the
air... Haven't you any pain?
My veins explode...
My eyes burst...
Oh mankind, you hear what they have done,
And you see what they have done,
Yet you still disbelieve...
Haven't you any pain?
Oh mankind, you cherish what is beside you,
Instead of cherishing Allah and His Blessings
Yet you still disbelieve...
Haven't you any pain?
When your children listen to the sound of thunder, in the West,
They bury their faces into their mother's chest,
from fear,
And cry until the end..
But until the end,
We whisper Allah's Words graciously in our hearts,
With nothing, but a rock in our hands,
When the sounds are heard...
Oh mankind, how can your ignorance blind you from what Allah has
bestowed upon this land?
Did prophet Muhammad (S) not journey to this land at night from Mecca?
And, miraculously, arrive in Masjud-il-Aqsa under the same moon?
Did he then not ascend to the highest skies of the Heavens,
Where only the Best will be rewarded?
I sit here on the ground,
And stare at the sky,
This is my home,
The only home...
Sometimes I feel ashamed to even touch the dirt, in my home,
Because it has been touched by such purity in the past,
That is not known to mankind since that time,
And that has not been witnessed by mankind, since that time,
But only written in words for our eyes to see,...
Oh ya Allah, You are the Lord of this world and the Hereafter,
You are the Lord of the Unseen and Mankind,
You are the Lord of everything I see around me,
You are the Eternal, and Most Merciful,
You are the Best in All,
You are my Lord,
So, please, ya Allah, grant me my dreams...
Oh, ya Allah,
Oh, ya Allah, please give me luxury in Paradise,
Whatever you grant me here, I will truely cherish it by Your Name
Oh, ya Allah, please grant us victory
And, please give me the courage of my parents,
Please only let me fear You, ya rab
Oh ya Rab, I ask You to protect me from the evil that Shaitan whispers in my ears,
and to protect me from despair in the Hour.
Please ya rab, let me die as my parents did,
Please let me fight my enemies for You,
And for victory of my people,
Ya rab, please let me die by a sword,
With my mother's voice in my mind,
My father's smile on my face,
And Your Words in my heart,
Let my face glow that day, as I fall to the ground,
Let my blood fall that day, as seeds are spread on the earth,
Let my tears sprinkle that day, as roses flourish the ground,
Let my soul rise that day, as the petals fly by the wind's Power,
And, please, oh Rahman, let Your Light welcome our faces, warmly, ya
Rab- ul- 'Alamin...
Ameen...

The Final Revealed Text from God
The Holy Quran (also written as Koran) is the eternal and literal word of God. Prophet Muhammad ( an Arab and a descendant of Abraham) received these divine revelations (The Holy Quran) over a period of 23 years in the seventh century of the Common Era (C.E.). Each revelation was written down by the Prophet's scribes according to the Prophet's instructions. The current order and organization into the 114 chapters (surahs) of the entire revelations were therefore given to us by the Prophet himself. Additionally, the Prophet and many fellow Muslims (sahabah) had committed the entire Quran to memory. The practice of memorizing the whole Quran continued throughout the centuries. There are thousands of such Muslims, known as Huffaz, usually one for each Mosque in Muslim countries. To learn more on this, please read Preservation of the Quran.
In order to gain a proper understanding of many verses in the Holy Quran, it is important to understand and know the historic context of the revelations. So many revelations in the Holy Quran came down to provide guidance to Prophet Muhammad and the fellow Muslims based on what they were confronting at that time.
"Alif, Lam, Meem. This is the Scripture whereof there is no doubt, a guidance unto those who ward off (evil). Who believe in the Unseen, and establish worship, and spend of that We have bestowed upon them; And who believe in that which is revealed unto thee (Muhammad) and that which was revealed before thee, and are certain of the Hereafter. These depend on guidance from their Lord. These are the successful. As for the Disbelievers, Whether thou warn them or thou warn them not it is all one for them; they believe not. Allah hath sealed their hearing and their hearts, and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be an awful doom." (Surah Al-Baqarah, Chapter 2)
Calling the Quran amazing is not something done only by Muslims, who have an appreciation for the book and who are pleased with it; it has been labeled amazing by non-Muslims as well. In fact, even people who hate Islam very much have still called it amazing. One thing which surprises non-muslims who are examining the book very closely is that the Qur'an does not appear to them to be what they expected.
This page contains a list of articles about the Holy Quran (Koran), the Holy Book of Muslims. The original text of the Quran, in Arabic, is widely available throughout the world. The Holy Quran is the only revealed text still extant today in its original language and form.
The Quran has been translated into every major language. The English translations by Abdullah Yusuf Ali and Muhammad Pickthall are two popular translations. We have made these translations available to our readers on this page. We recommend the translation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali with commentary as a first reading.
Maulana Maududi's translation and commentary on the Qur'an "The Meaning of the Qur'an" ranks as one of the best such works in existence today. Unlike many early translators, Syed Maududi uses the standard technique of providing an explanation of the Qur'anic verses from the Sunnah of the Prophet including the historical reasons behind the verses. A list of Maududi's introductions to each chapter in the Qur'an is given on this site.
