A.S.W.K
A man once passed through a forest in Africa, walking at his leisure
smelling the flowers and admiring the beauty of the place and wondering at the way the sunrays
fingered their way through the dense branches.
When suddenly he Oheard the sound of fast approaching danger that was loud and frightening.
When he turned, it was to face a large lion charging at him. The lion's thin waist made evident his
hunger. With the lion chasing him, the man's heart nearly leaped out at the
sight of it all, and so he started to
run for his life.
The lion was about to catch up with him when the man came upfront with a well. Then with a mighty
leap he jumped into the well and ended up dangling in the heart of the well hanging onto a rope.
The lion's voice eventually quieted; but then soon heard the hissing of a snake that had a giant
head and a long body which came from somewhere below him.
Just as the man was thinking of how what to do about the lion and the snake, a black mouse and a
white one climbed up to where the rope was attached and started to nibble away at the rope
The man was petrified and so started to shake the rope hoping to get rid of the mice. As he did so
the rope began to swing and knocking him against the walls. The man started to feel something wet
and sticky come into contact with the sides as he banged against the walls. The man licked the
substance only to find that it was honey; the type made by bees in the forests and mountains. The
honey thought was so sweet and delicious that he continued to do so and forgot the situation he was
in.
Suddenly !!
The man woke up???!! For it was all just a horrible dream!!!
So the man decided he should get his dream translated. So he went to meet a religious scholar (one
knowledgeable in the translation of dreams). He told the scholar of his dream.
The scholar laughed and said: "Don't you know its interpretation
The man said he didn't. So the scholar replied:
"the lion that was chasing you was the angle of death
and the well with the snake in it is your grave
and the two mice are the nights and the days that are depleting form you life"
The man asked, "And how about the honey?"
The scholar replied:
"That is the sweet taste of life
that is distracting you and made you forget that death,
& day of judgment are just behind you"
Is there anyone who will reflect before it is
Too Late??
Sweet Dreams !!

Anger and the tongue |

As Salam Alykom
I received this very meaningful message on an email thought to share it with all of u.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everything we say and do in life has consequences. Just like throwing a stone into a pond, sends ripples across the water affecting all around it.
We are free to say and do as we choose but the consequences of our words and actions are our responsibility.
How many times have hasty words been spoken making a wedge
between once loving friends or spouses?
Sometimes we think something bad about a person and in anger or when emotions are high, we make those thoughts vocal. If we could have waited a little, these negative thoughts may well have been replaced with more kindly ones.
To speak or act while in a state of anger is really a mistake. It is a good idea to bite your tongue and wait until the next day. If the same level of emotions are present, then speak out, but chances are you will have forgotten why you were angry.
The good deed and the evil deed cannot be equal. Repel (the evil) with one which is better (i.e. Allah ordered the faithful believers to be patient at the time of anger, and to excuse those who treat them badly), then verily! He between whom and you there was enmity, (will become) as though he was a close friend. (Sura Fussilat 41:34)

A Soft Drink Generation Poisoned with Pesticides
Darryl D’Monte reports from India on allegations that the two “cola kings” in India – Coca-Cola and Pepsi – are selling drinks with traces of pesticide. The allegations have raised a huge controversy, with parliament first banning their sales in the House, and schools and other institutions following suit. The controversy has deepened with some agencies giving the manufacturers a clean chit, while the media NGO that raised the issue points to the lax controls in India on water standards.
The allegation by the Delhi-based media NGO, the Centre for Science & Environment (CSE), that Coca-Cola and Pepsi are selling sub-standard products has taken a curious turn, with official agencies issuing contradictory statements regarding the contents. The central government has stated that these beverage manufacturers sold bottled water within prescribed limits, but constituted a joint parliamentary committee to probe pesticide contamination in the colas, in the absence of separate standards for soft drinks. However, the appointment of Mr Sharad Pawar, a former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, to head this committee does not inspire confidence, given his lack of probity in several controversial affairs, not least his endorsement of the Enron power plant in his home state.
Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration, which has a better reputation than most others, had first cleared both colas but then confirmed that samples taken in June did contain traces of pesticide above India’s prescribed limits. It is vitally important for all regulatory agencies to seize samples sold at the end of July and earlier, since they are being replaced. The CSE alleges that the government has analysed different batches of drinks from those that the CSE itself did and wants the same batches of colas to be compared. It further alleges that the manufacturers are now replacing stocks with more recent batches, which are using better quality water.
The Supreme Court, meanwhile, has ruled out Coca-Cola’s plea for the central government to appoint an independent laboratory to test samples of its drink. Unmindful of the irony in its request, the top lawyer Kapil Sibal reminded the court of “the grave danger posed to the soft drink manufacturer” (!) in the wake of the allegations posed by the CSE in early August.
This is not going to be a controversy that dies down easily. On the one side are ranged some of the most powerful corporate interests ever. Coca-Cola is simply the world’s biggest brand, estimated at $70 billion. The Indian soft drinks market, of which the two cola kings dominate with an 80% share, is put at a staggering $1.74 billion a year. Indeed, Mr Sibal added insult to injury (literally, in this case!) when he referred to the harm the controversy was causing to his big client by schools, colleges, government bodies and others refusing to accept crates of coke.
The Main Issues Should not be Side-Tracked
Sunita Narain of the CSE wishes to highlight the abysmal lack of standards in India for food and drink
However, this controversy, like so many others, is in danger of becoming a case of demonising the cola kings or environmentalists, depending on which side one supports. This would be to miss the issue altogether, as Sunita Narain, the feisty Director of the CSE, keeps pointing out. She has made it clear that she does not wish primarily to take on the manufacturers for cheating the Indian consumer. Her agenda, on the contrary, is to highlight the abysmal lack of standards within the country for food (and drink). This is why earlier this year, the CSE pointed out the grave shortcomings in the permitted pesticide content in bottled water, almost all of which brands failed to meet internationally accepted standards.
Ironically enough, CSE was at the time accused of being in the pay of Coca-Cola and Pepsi because the main targets – as in any such investigation it conducts – were the biggest brands, which happened to belong to Indian companies like Ramesh Chauhan’s Bisleri (he sold the indigenous cola Thums Up to Coca-Cola for some $60 million several years ago).
The media, typically, has stirred up a hornets’ nest and tended to obscure the main issue, seeking to put drinks manufacturers rather than the central and state governments and its official regulatory agencies like the Pollution Control Boards and food and drug inspectorates on the mat. It is necessary to reiterate what the CSE sought to demonstrate. It now has its own sophisticated laboratory to ensure that it is not only in full possession of the samples that it has tested but, equally importantly, is fully abreast of the analytical techniques. It checked all drinks for 16 organochlorine pesticides, 12 organophosphorous and four synthetic pyrethroids. All contained pesticide residues, compared to the European Economic Community’s (EEC) standards. DDT was 15 times higher, lindane 21 times, chlorphyrifos 42 times and malathion a staggering 87 times. Coca-Cola had pesticide 45 times more than the prescribed EEC limits and Mirinda Lemon 70 times.
The harsh truth is that when the CSE tested samples of Coca-Cola and Pepsi from the US, it found that the latter were absolutely free of such contamination. The answer, obviously, lies in the water used, since there are strict rules regarding the use of such pesticides in the US and Europe where some, like DDT, are banned altogether. The Indian subsidiaries may well argue that they are simply meeting domestic standards, but this can hardly hold water (pardon the pun), if they claim to be selling a standard product worldwide.
Proper Regulations Lacking
Allegations of large concentrations of pesticides present in Coca-Cola and Pepsi are currently under investigation
The real story is that the standards for soft drinks are even more lax than they are for bottled water, which were imposed five years ago. While the Fruit Product Order, issued by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, regulates the amount of fruit pulp and sugar or glucose in such drinks, there is no regulation on the basic raw material, water, other than to specify that “potable” water must be used. Further, while the Prevention of Food Adulteration, under another agency, the Ministry of Health, regulates the amount of pesticides in food, beverages are excluded altogether. There is a clause regarding standards for non-alcoholic drinks, but it says nothing about pesticides. There are several clauses that prescribe voluntary compliance. The true culprits, therefore, are the various official agencies – the very sources which Coca-Cola and Pepsi are running to in order to obtain respite from the blistering allegations which, reportedly, have reduced their sales in some cities by as much as 60% for the time being.
It is 41 years since Rachel Carson first drew the attention of the American public, and subsequently of much of the world, to the dangers of indiscriminate use of pesticides in agriculture, which eventually find their way into the wildlife and human food chain. There have been heated controversies over whether or not to ban DDT and malathion in this country: while it kills off mosquitoes and other pests which can cause malaria and dreaded epidemics, as well as rodents which consume food grain stocks, it causes havoc in the human system. It is nothing less than a toss-up between short-term gains and long-term hazards. This is why the World Health Organization (WHO) and other agencies found that Indians have the highest traces of DDT in their bodies. One has only to recall a WHO poster several years ago which simply showed a bare female breast with the caption: “Milk in these containers is unfit for human consumption.”
The real need, clearly, is for much stricter standards in every sphere of life that has an impact on health and well being. Only recently, for instance, the accident in the Kalpakkam nuclear plant in south India has once again raised fears regarding the safety of workers in such installations – not to mention the nearby residents if there is a bigger catastrophe. Typically, workers are not granted access to their medical records in nuclear and chemical plants under the specious plea that these belong to the company and are “confidential”. The lack of safety standards has been even more shockingly absent in procedures for spraying pesticides, with illiterate farmers mixing toxic chemicals with their bare hands and inhaling fumes as the chemicals are sprayed.
The least the parliamentary committee must do is to highlight the incredibly hazardous shortcomings in standards in the food and drink industry, which obviously have a direct impact on human health. The cola kings are raising a red herring by arguing that prescribing EEC standards will adversely impact Indian agriculture. For multinationals accused of “colonising” the world, this is a laughable argument.
In the wake of the CSE’s allegations, the media has correctly highlighted how all vegetables also have pesticide residues, while foodstuffs are adulterated with every conceivable colouring agent and other chemicals, many of which are carcinogenic. India already has the unsavoury reputation of being a country with the worst AIDS pandemic; it will quickly catapult itself into a similar status for cancer, at this rate.

Former Rock Singer Calls For Supporting Islamic Education
"If you’re sending your child to school let it be one of liberation from ignorance and not an introduction to it," said Islam
Dina Rashed, IOL Chicago Correspondent
CHICAGO, September 2 (IslamOnline.net) - Yusuf Islam, formally rock star and internationally renowned singer Cat Stevens, called for supporting Islamic education especially in the West were Muslim children still need guidance and protection.
Islam, a role model to many in the Muslim world, was the keynote speaker at the annual fundraising event of Iqra' International Educational Foundation on Sunday, August 31.
"In the way of Allah what is better than to teach the way of Allah in education?" said Islam addressing almost 500 guests filling the Regency Ballroom of the McCormick Hyatt Hotel next to the McCormick Place Convention Center where the 40th annual convention of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) is being held.
In a brisk and brief speech, Islam spoke of the need to further strengthen the Islamic education especially that the world is getting more materialistic every day, saying that even education today is becoming economically driven.
Drawing from his own personal experience, he said the news of his acceptance of Islam and the adoption of a different lifestyle was the most shocking at the time, because of the background he was coming from as a famous Rock singer.
But Islam abandoned this materialistic world because he believed he was heading in the wrong direction.
He added that teaching man-made theories is not hard, but educating the children with a sense of direction is the challenge.
"We must have an attitude, "If you’re sending your child to school let it be one of liberation from ignorance and not an introduction to it. We have to think about whether our schools are achieving this," he said.
Iqra' Foundation is celebrating 20 years of contribution to the Islamic education in North America, just as the Islamic school Islamya, which Islam founded in London, celebrates two decades of service.
"This work [iqra'] has been an example in itself, an example of what was needed at a time when a few were desperately needed to be protected and to be developed," Islam added.
Iqra' was founded by Abidullah and Tasnima Ghazi, whose interest in developing curriculum and educational books to Muslim children in North America first picked up while they were both PhD students, and were involved in the Sunday schools of Harvard University during the 1960s.
But the Foundation was officially registered only in 1983 in Chicago Illinois, and ever since has been the major publisher of curriculum guides and educational material ranging from preschool to high school for both full-time and part-time Islamic schools in the U.S. and Canada.
Gradually their catalogue list increased to include many books about the life of the prophets, Islamic values and manners, children stories, history, and geography of the Muslim world, in addition to Prophet Muhammad’s Seerah and the Quran.
In the past few years, Iqra' has had an increasing interest in publishing more about Islam and Muslims to non-Muslims children.
"The only reason for doing anything is Allah, so keep remembering Allah in everything then you’ll find the pleasure of this life even with your money," said Islam, who became Muslim in 1977.
Following a 17-year hiatus from the music business, Islam returned in 1995 and has since released three albums of Islam related songs, The Life of the Last Prophet (1995), Prayers of the Last Prophet (1999) and a record for children, A Is for Allah (2000).

The Pillars & Conditions For a Marriage To Be Valid In Islam
By: Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid
There are three pillars or conditions for the marriage contract in Islam:
1. Both parties should be free of any obstacles that might prevent the marriage from being valid, such as their being mahrams of one another (i.e., close relatives who are permanently forbidden to marry),
whether this relationship is through blood ties or through breastfeeding (radaa’) etc., or where the man is a kaafir (non-Muslim) and the woman is a Muslim, and so on.
2. There should be an offer or proposal (eejaab) from the walee or the person who is acting in his place, who should say to the groom “I marry so-and-so to you” or similar words.
3. There should be an expression of acceptance (qabool) on the part of the groom or whoever is acting in his place, who should say, “I accept,” or similar words.
The conditions of a proper nikaah (marriage contract) are as follows:
1. Both the bride and groom should be clearly identified, whether by stating their names or describing them, etc.
2. Both the bride and groom should be pleased with one another, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No previously-married woman (widow or divorcee) may be married until she has been asked about her wishes (i.e., she should state clearly her wishes), and no virgin should be married until her permission has been asked (i.e., until she has agreed either in words or by remaining silent).” They asked, “O Messenger of Allaah, how is her permission given (because she will feel very shy)?” He said: “By her silence.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 4741)
3. The one who does the contract on the woman’s behalf should be her walee, as Allaah addressed the walees with regard to marriage (interpretation of the meaning): “And marry those among you who are single…” [al-Noor 24:32] and because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Any woman who marries without the permission of her walee, her marriage is invalid, her marriage is invalid, her marriage is invalid.” (Reported by al-Tirmidhi, 1021 and others; it is a saheeh hadeeth)
4. The marriage contract must be witnessed, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There is no marriage contract except with a walee and two witnesses.” (Reported by al-Tabaraani; see also Saheeh al-Jaami’, 7558)
5. It is also important that the marriage be announced, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Announce marriages.” (Reported by Imaam Ahmad; cl***ed as hasan in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 1027)
The conditions of the walee are as follows:
1. He should be of sound mind
2. He should be an adult
3. He should be free (not a slave)
4. He should be of the same religion as the bride. A kaafir cannot be the walee of a Muslim, male or female, and a Muslim cannot be the walee of a kaafir, male or female, but a kaafir can be the walee of a kaafir woman for marriage purposes, even if they are of different religions. An apostate (one who has left Islam) cannot be a walee for anybody.
5. He should be of good character (‘adaalah – includes piety, attitude, conduct, etc.), as opposed to being corrupt. This is a condition laid down by some scholars, although some of them regard the outward appearance of good character as being sufficient, and some say that it is enough if he is judged as being able to pay proper attention to the interests of the woman for whom he is acting as walee in the matter of her marriage.
6. He should be male, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “No woman may conduct the marriage contract of another woman, and no woman can conduct the marriage contract on behalf of her own self, because the zaaniyah (fornicatress, adulteress) is the one who arranges things on her own behalf.” (Reported by Ibn Maajah, 1782; see also Saheeh al-Jaami’, 7298)
6. He should be wise and mature (rushd), which means being able to understand matters of compatibility and the interests of marriage.
More Info about walees in Islam:
The fuqahaa’ put possible walees in a certain order, and a walee who is more closely-related should not be ignored unless there is no such person or the relatives do not meet the specified conditions. A woman’s walee is her father, then whoever her father may have appointed before his death, then her paternal grandfather or great-grandfather, then her son, then her grandfathers sons or grandsons, then her brother through both parents (full brother), then her brother through her father, then the sons of her brother through both parents, then the sons of her brother through her father, then her uncle (her father’s brother through both parents), then her father’s brother through the father, then the sons of her father’s brother though both parents, then the sons of her father’s brother through the father, then whoever is more closely related, and so on – as is the case with inheritance. The Muslim leader (or his deputy, such as a qaadi or judge) is the walee for any woman who does not have a walee of her own.
If a Non Muslim lady reverts to Islam, to , none of her kaafir(non-Muslim) family members can act as a guardian (wali) of her interests; no kaafir can act in this capacity over a Muslim. If there is a Muslim with some authority in the area over the affairs of the Muslim community, then he can act in this capacity, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) hadeeth:
"No marriage contract can be concluded without the presence of a Wali. A Sultan (authority figure) can act as a Wali for those without one." (see Ibn Majah and Imam Ahmad, Hadith number 1880; also in Salih al-Jaami', hadeeth number 7556.)
If there is no authoritative Muslim person, then one should refer to the community Muslim leader or any Muslim who is just ('aadil), respected, and of high character, such as the director of the Islamic center or its imam, to conclude the marriage contract of the sister, with her consent.

Forced Marriages
Imam Ibn Taymiyyah
May a father force his virgin daughter who attained puberty to marry?
Two well-known opinions in this regard are reported from Ahmad:
That he may compel her. This is also the opinion of Maalik, ash-Shaafi`ee, and others. That he may not. This is also the opinion of Aboo Haneefah and others, and is the correct one.
People have differed as tot he reason permitting the compulsion: whether it is virginity, the daughter being under-aged, or a combination of both. The closest opinion to the truth is her being under-aged, whereas no one can compel a grown-up virgin in marriage. Aboo Hurayrah, radhiallahu `anhu reported that the Prophet, sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam, said:
"A non-virgin woman may not be married without her command, and a virgin may not be married without her permission; and enough permission for her is to remain silent (because of her natural shyness)." [Al-Bukhaaree, Muslim, and others]
Thus the Prophet, sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam, prohibits forcing a virgin in marriage without her permission, whether it be her father or someone else. Furthermore, `Aa';ishah, radhiallahu `anhaa, said that she asked the Prophet, sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam, "In the case of a young girl whose parents marry her, should her permission be sought or not?" He replied, "Yes, she must give her permission." She then said, "But a virgin will be shy, O Allaah’s Messenger." He answered:
"Her silence is [considered as] her permission." [Al-Bukhaaree, Muslim, and others]
This applies to the father as well as others. Furthermore, Islaam does not give the father the right to use any of her wealth without her permission, how then could he be allowed to decide, without her permission, how her body (which is more important than her wealth) is to be used, specially when she disagrees to that and is mature to decide for herself?
Also, there is evidence and concensus in Islaam to restrict an underage person’s free control of his wealth or person. However, to make a virginity a reason for the restriction contradicts the Islaamic basis.
As for the difference between the non-virgin and virgin in the hadeeth of the Prophet, sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam, it is not a differentiation between compulsion and non-compulsion; the difference between the two cases is that (a) the former gives her instructions for the marriage whereas the latter gives permission, and that ( the virgin’s silence counts as a permission. The reason for this is that a virgin would be shy to discuss the matter of marriage, so she is not proposed to directly; rather, her walee (guardian) is approached, he takes her permission, and then she gives him the permission not the command to marry her.
And as for a non-virgin, she would not have the shyness of virginity anymore; thus she can discuss the matter of her marriage, she can be proposed to, and she gives the command to her walee to perform the marriage, and he must obey her.
Thus the walee is command-executor in the case of the non-virgin, and is permission-seeker in the case of the virgin. This is what the Prophet's words indicate. As for compelling her to marry despite her loathing to do so, this would contradict the fundamentals and reason. Allaah ta`ala did not permit a walee to force her to sell or rent her property without her permission. Neither did He permit him to force her to eat or drink or wear that which she does not wish.
How would He then oblige her to accompany and copulate with a person whose company she hates - at the time when Allaah ta`ala has sent between the two spouses love and mercy? If such company happens despite her hatred and repulsion, where is the love and mercy? .

(1) Hadrat Abu Hurairah reports that the Holy prophet said: “ I wear by him in whose hand is my soul: The son of Mary shall descend among you, as a just ruler. Then he will break the cross, and kill the swineA , and put an end to war (in another Tradition, there is the word jizyah instead of Herb(War), meaning that he will abolish of Jizyah;b then there will be such abundance of wealth that nobody will like to accept it, and (conditions will be such that) performing of one sajada (prostration) before Allah will be considered better that the world and what it contains.” (Bukhari: Kitab Ahadith al-Anbiya, bab Nuzul’Isa Ibn Maryam; Muslim: bab Nuzul’Isa: Tirmizhi: Abwabul Fitan, Bab fi Nuzul ‘Isa; Musnad Ahmad: Marwiyat Abu Hurairah). (2) Another Tradition from Hadrat Abu Hurairah is to the effect: “Resurrection will not take place until Jesus son of Mary has descended…” (This is followed by the same theme as reported in the above-cited Tradition). (Bukhari: Kitab al-Mazalim, Bab Kasr as-Salab, Ibn Majah: Kitab al-Fitan).
(3) Hadrat Abu Hurairah reports that the Holy Prophet said: “How will you be when the son of Mary will descend among you, and your Imam at that time will be from among yourselves? [1] [1](Bukhari: Kitab Ahadith Anbiya’, Bab Nuzul’Isa: Muslim: Nuzul’Isa; Musnad Ahmad).
(4) Hadrat Abu Hurairah has reported that the holy Prophet said: “Jesus son of Mary shall descend; then he will kill the swine and destroy the Cross [2] [2]; and a congregation will be held for him for the Prayer; and he will distribute so much wealth that people will be satiated with it; and he will abolish the tribute; and he will encamp at Rauha’, [3] [3] and from there will go to perform Hajj or “Umrah, or both.” (The reporter is in doubt as to what exactly the Holy Prophet said). (Musnad Ahmad: Marwiyat Abu Hurairah; Muslim: Kitab al-Hajj).
(5) Hadrat Abu Hurairah reports that the Holy Prophet (after making mention of the appearance of the Dajjal) said: “In the meantime, when the Muslims will be making preparations to fight him, will be lining u (for the Prayer) and the Iqamah will have been pronounced, Jesus son of Mary shall descend and lead them in the Prayer; and the enemy of Allah (Dajjal i.e. the Antichrist) on seeing him alone, he would melt to death anyway, but Allah will have him killed at his hand, and he will show his blood on this spear to the Muslims.” (Mishkat: Ikitab al-Fitan, with reference to Muslim).
(6) Abu Hurairah reports that the Holy Prophet said: “There is not prophet between me and him (i.e. Jesus Christ), and he shall descend. So, recognize him when you see him. He is a man of medium height, of ruddy and fair complexion; he will be dressed in two yellow garments; the hair of his head will appear as though water was going to trickle down from it, whereas it will not be wet. He will fight people in the cause of Islam, will break the Cross and kill the swine and will abolish jizyah; and Allah will put an end to all communities in his time except Islam [4] [4]; and he will slay the Antichrist (Dajjal); and he will stay in the world for 40 years; the will die and the Muslims will offer the funeral Prayer for him.” (Abu Da’ud: Kitab al-Malahim; Musnad Ahmad: Marwiyat Abu Hurairah).
(7) Hadrat Jabir bin ‘Abdullah says that he heard the Holy Prophet say; “…then Jesus son of Mary will descend. The leader of the Muslims will say, “No: you yourselves are leaders over one another. [5] [5] This he will say in view of the honor that Allah has bestowed on this Community.” (Muslim: Bayan Nuzul “Isa Ibn Maryam; Musnad Ahmad: Marwiyat Fabir bin ‘Abdullah).
(8) Jabir bin ‘Abdullah reports (in connection with the story of Ibn Sayyad: “Then, “Umar bin al-Khattab submitted; O Messenger of Allah, permit me to kill him. The Messenger of Allah replied: If he is the same person (i.e. the Dajjal), then you will not kill him, but he will be killed by Jesus son of Mary. And if he is not he (i.e. the Dajjal), then you have no right to kill a man from among the dhimmis.” (Mishkat: Kitab al-fitan).

as salam alykom I received this excellent article about Riba on an email thought to share it with u.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday my husband was explaining to the realtor how we can only buy a home with cash because our religion forbids us to deal with interest. Subhana-Allah!!! The realtor told my husband that he works with Muslims all the time and that Muslims LIVE and BUY on interest, Astagh Ferrullah! He told my husband that we are the first Muslims to say it is not permitted in the religion.
Allah (SWT) says,
"Those who eat Riba (interest) will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the standing of a person beaten by Shaitan leading him to insanity. That is because they say: "Trading is only like Riba (interest)," whereas Allah has permitted trading and forbidden Riba (interest). So whosoever receives an admonition from his Lord and stops eating Riba (interest) shall not be punished for the past; his case is for Allah (to judge); but whoever returns (to Riba: interest), such are the dwellers of the Fire - they will abide therein." (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:275)
The Prophet (SAW) cursed the one who consumes Riba and the one who pays it and the scribe who writes the contract, and the witnesses to it; and said, "They are equal (in sin)." (Sahih Muslim).
So hear O Muslims! Allah (SWT) has made trading halal (lawful) and riba haram (unlawful). Whoever receives an admonition from his (or her) Lord and stops eating the Riba (interest), stops paying the Riba (interest), stops witnessing the Riba (interest), and anything that is connected to the Riba (interest), shall not be punished for that which happened in the past, his (or her) case is for Allah (to judge)! Whoever returns to Riba (interest) will be a dweller of the Fire! In this particular verse brothers and sisters in Islam, Allah (SWT) is explaining to us that this thing called Riba (interest) is destructive, that it lands us a seat in the Fire! Anybody who hears these words from their Creator, who does not shake and shiver, something has to be wrong with them!
Listen to this true story brothers and sisters, about two or three young men who caught this woman, put a sack over her head, drug her into the basement and raped her repeatedly. They kept on raping her and raping her and raping her, over and over again. Then they said to each other, "Let's take the sack off her head and see how she looks." It was one of the young men's mother! It was one of the young men's mother! It was one of the young men's mother! THIS is what Allah (SWT) and His Messenger (SAW) say about Riba (interest):
"Riba (interest) has seventy parts and the LEAST of it is like a man (or woman) having sex with his (or her) own (biological) mother."
The LEAST of it is like having sex with our very own, biological, mother! How in the world after reading these verses and reading this hadith can we say, "We don't have enough room for our children, we can't live in an apartment" and then go out and get a loan on a house?
Brothers and sisters! Image your mother, perfuming herself, putting on some nice lipstick and some real nice provactive clothes, you turning down the lights then going into the room with her and lying in the bed with her! Think about this for a second! Brothers and sisters BOTH think about this because this hadith is not specifically talking to the men!
Think about it! Do we still not have enough room for our children? Can we still not live in an apartment? Do we not even care that Allah (SWT) and His Prophet (SAW) said these words about this great sin, that it is one of the seven great destructive sins along with shirk (Sahih Al-Bukhari)? How can we take it so lightly?
Brothers and sisters! There are NO fire extinguishers or fire escapes in the Fire! How can we take this thing so lightly? We talk about that sister who wears black from head to toe covering everything EVEN her face and hands!!! Yet, WE have a mortgage on a condo! We talk about that brother with the long beard whose pant legs are always above his ankles. Yet, WE have a bank loan on a house! OUR Discover card is maxed out! OUR payment is due on the Toyota! Why do we take Riba (interest) so lightly?
We love this dunya! When we get a little uncomfortable and want to make this life our Jennah we don't run to Allah (SWT), we run for the dunya! The Prophet (SAW) said,
"The dunya is a prison for a believer and paradise for the disbeliever!" (Sahih Muslim)
"Do not love this world, and Allah will love you, and do not have a longing for that which people have, and they will love you." (Ibn Majah)
Brothers and sisters! Right now today, Insha-Allah!!! We have to take this thing called Riba (interest) seriously, Insha-Allah! Listen to Allah (SWT) and obey:
"O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah and give up what remains from Riba (interest) (from now onward), if you are (really) believers!" (Surah Al-Baqara 2:278)
Ya Allah! Guide the Muslims, Ameen!
