Assalam aleikum
I haven't seen any post by our brother Abu Dujanah recently? I for one miss reading them.
Just because we may not agree with each other on every word doesn't mean we don't benefit from one another.
I hope I see some from the brother soon Inshallah.

Quote:O Seekers of Knowledge
Indeed all praise is for We praise Him, seek His aid and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in from the evils of our own souls and from our evil actions. He whom Allâh guides, then none can misguide him; and he whom Allâh misguides, then none can guide him. I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allâh alone, having no partner; and I bear witness that Muhammad sallallahu ’alayhi wa sallâm is His Slave and Messenger.
“O you who believe! Have taqwâ (fear) of Allâh as you should have of Him and do not die except as Muslims.” [1]
“O mankind! Have (fear) of your Lord, who created you from a single person and from him, He created his wife and from them both He created many men and women; and have taqwâ of Allâh through whom you demand your mutual rights and do not cut relations of the wombs. Indeed, Allâh is ever an All_Watcher over you.” [2]
“O you who believe! Have taqwâ of Allâh and always speak the truth. He will direct you to do righteous and correct actions and forgive you your sins. Whosoever obeys Allâh and His Messenger has indeed attained a great achievement.” [3]
To proceed:
The tâbi’î, Talq ibn Habîb - rahimahullâh - said: “Taqwâ is acting in obedience to Allâh hoping in His mercy, upon a light from Him; and taqwâ is leaving acts of disobedience to Allâh out of fear of Him, upon a light from Him.”
Characteristics of the Seekers
Imâm al_آjurrî (d.360H) [5] - rahimahullâh - said:
“The seeker of knowledge should know that - the Mighty and Majestic - has made the worship of obligatory upon Him; and that this worship is not possible except with knowledge, the seeking has also been made obligatory upon him. He should also realise that ignorance is not befitting for a Believer. He should seek knowledge in order to dispel ignorance from himself, and to worship - the Mighty and Majestic - as Allâh has commanded; not as he desires to worship Him. So the seeker of knowledge should strive hard in this quest, be sincere in this striving and should not become amazed with himself. Rather, he should that this is a favour from Allâh upon him, since it was Allâh who gave him the ability to acquire such knowledge, by which he is able to fulfil his obligations and keep away from that which is forbidden.” [6]
Knowledge with Action
Al_Khatîb al-Baghdâdî [7] - rahimahullâh- said:
“I advise you - O seeker of knowledge - to make the intention pure and sincere and strive to make the soul act upon what this knowledge demands. Since knowledge is a tree and actions are its fruits and the one who does not act upon his knowledge is not counted as being a Scholar. It has been said: Knowledge is the father and actions are the offspring. Indeed, knowledge comes with actions; and riwâyah (narrating) comes with a dirâyah (investigating).
So do not feel satisfied with action as long as you are lacking in knowledge; and do not feel satisfied with knowledge when you falling short in action. Rather, combine them both - even if your share of the two is small. There is nothing worse than a Scholar whose knowledge the people abandon, due to the corruption of his ways, nor an ignorant person whose ignorance the people accept, because they look at his worship. So a little knowledge, along with a little action, will more likely save you in the end - when grants His Mercy bounteously and completely. However, as regards laziness, love of ease and leisure, preferring lowliness and repose, leaning towards relaxation - then the results of these traits are blameworthy and hateful.
And knowledge leads to action, just as action leads to being saved. So if the action is lesser than the knowledge, then knowledge is a burden upon the Scholar and we seek Allâh’s protection from knowledge which becomes a burden and produces lowliness, becoming a yoke on the neck of its owner.
Sahl ibn Muzâhim said:
The matter is tighter upon the Scholar than clenching the fist tightly, even though the ignorant one is not excused due to his ignorance. However, the Scholar receives a greater punishment if he abandons what he knows and does not act upon it.
So did the Salaf (the Pious Predecessors) of the past reach the high levels which they reached, except through sincerity of ’aqîdah (beliefs), righteous and correct actions and over_powering zuhd (abstinence) in all the attracting things of this world. And did the wise ones reach the great satisfaction, except by avoiding hastening to worldly things and being pleased with what was easy, and giving what was surplus from their needs to the poor and those who asked.
Is not the one who gathers books of knowledge just like the one
who gathers gold and silver? Is not the one who has an insatiable greed for them just like the one who is greedy about gold and silver? Is not the one who is a prisoner of the love of the former like the one who hoards the latter?
So just as wealth does not benefit except by spending it, then
likewise, knowledge does not benefit except by acting upon it and carrying out its obligations. So let a person examine himself and take advantage of his time, because the stopping is little, the riding beast near, the road is fearful; and going astray upon it is what is usual, the danger is great, the one who discerns has insight, - the Most High - is watching over and to Him is the return. “And whoever does an atoms weight of good shall see it, and whoever does an atoms weight of evil shall see it.” [8] ” [9]
Words of Wisdom
Ibn Masûd - radiallâhu ’anhu - said:
“Learn, learn! So when you learn, then act.” [10]
Az_Zuhrî (d.124H) - rahimahullâh - said:
“The people will not trust the actions of a person who acts without knowledge. And they will not be pleased with the saying of a Scholar who does not.” [11]
Sahl ibn ’Abdullâh (d.283) - rahimahullâh - said:
“All of mankind are drunk, except the Scholars. And all the Scholars are confused, except whoever acts according to his knowledge.”[12]
He - rahimahullâh - also said:
“Knowledge is one of the delights and pleasures of the world. So when it is acted upon, it becomes for the Hereafter.”[13]
Abû ’Abdullâh ar_Rûdhabârî said:
“Knowledge rests upon actions and actions rest upon sincerity, and sincerity for Allâh inherits understanding about Allâh - the Mighty and Majestic.”[14]
Habîb ibn ’Ubayd - rahimahullâh - said:
“Learn knowledge and understand and be benefited by it. Do not learn it for beautifying yourselves by it. Then it may happen - if you live long - that a person beautifies himself with knowledge, just as a man beautifies himself with clothes.”[15]
Al_Hasan al_Basrî (d.110H) - rahimahullâh - said:
“The concern of the Scholar is tending to the flock, whilst the concern of the foolish one is just to narrate.”[16]
Fudayl ibn ’Iyyad (d.187H) - rahimahullâh - said:
“The Scholar continues to be ignorant of what he has learnt, until he acts upon it. So when he acts upon it, he becomes knowledgeable.” [17]
Al_Hasan al_Basrî - rahimahullâh - said:
“خmân (faith) is not outer decoration, nor mere hope. Rather it is what settles in the heart and what is affirmed by actions. Whoever spoke good, but did not act righteously, then Allâh throws it back upon his saying. Whoever spoke good and acted righteously, Allâh raises up the actions. This is because Allâh - the Most High - says:
“To Him ascend all goodly words, and righteous actions raise it.” ”[18]

Science cannot even tell me if it is going to rain tomorrow. The closest we get is percentages. A barometer and windsock tell me about as much as the weather man does and these have been around for centuries. Doplar radar and weather stations just tell us what is coming by looking to the west. Easterly wind and rain in the west? Most likely going to rain here tomorrow. What does science actually do anyway? It describes what is already occurring. Magnetic fields and electricity have been around possiblely since the beginning of earth. These were not made only "discovered" like Columbus discovered America. Sometimes these discoveries either prove to be wrong or faulty. Look at atomic weapons. Wow. Something so powerful that it cannot be used. Not really a weapon, more of a bluff.
Cocaine and anphetamines were seen as miracle drugs at the time of discovery. Whoops. Ask doctors about the body. There are tissues and organs in there that they still do not know what they do. Any cures lately? I still get sick from the flu and common colds. Been around for as long as man has been studying medicine. I can get a flu shot. Goody! I can just get a long cold instead of the feverish flu. At least I only have to get it once right? Where did AIDS come from? What about cancer? Apparently everything causes that now.
It is a type of faulty thinking that people have fallen into. More technology and more science equals better. How? There are still wars only with scarier weapons. Do you feel like you have more free time with all the time saving devices? Not me. Study science and you will find out how little it answers and how many more questions it raises.

Muslims pray in Berlin's first mosque |

Friday 05 December 2003, 23:32 Makka Time, 20:32 GMT
The unmistakeable twin minarets, the domed roof and the marble staircase towards a heavy door, behind which the faithful kneel in midday prayers under the vaulted ceiling.
It could be Cairo, or Beirut or Damascus, or one of a thousand other cities and towns dotted across the Middle East and around the world. It is not.
This is Berlin, where the German capital's first mosque has just opened and there are plans for a dozen more.
The city already boasts more than 70 places of prayer for Muslims, but not until the Pehitlik opened on Columbiadamm, a non-descript street in southern Berlin, has it had a mosque.
"It is good to have a representative place," said Recep Turkogu, a member of the Turkish-Islamic Union for the Office of Religion (DITIB) which supervises 600 of the 2200 Muslim prayer centres in Germany.
Praying at home
There are some 3.4 million Muslims in Germany, including 220,000 in Berlin. An estimated two thirds are of Turkish origin.
Countrywide the Muslim community has 77 mosques. In Berlin, up to now, the prayers have been organised in apartments, halls and courtyards.
"We chose to stay in Germany," said Recep, who moved here 34 years ago, "so we want convenient places to pray. We will show extremists the door."
Old habits die hard for some, though. "Normally we pray in a flat," said three Turks arriving for midday prayers at the Pehitlik mosque.
"Praying here is a chance to socialise, but we prefer to pray at our homes."
The building on the Columbiadamm has excited little controversy, apart from a dispute over the size of the minarets.
Opposition
However, news of a dozen similar plans to build mosques or Islamic centres in Berlin, notably in the Turkish-dominated areas of Kreuzberg and Neukoelln, have raised concerns.
The Muslim community in Germany
has 77 mosques
"Generally, people think that, Islam being embedded in this district, it is legitimate that there are representative buildings," said Guenther Piening, a Berlin city official responsible for matters of racial integration.
"But they fear mosques will encourage a radicalisation that
would threaten the liberal atmosphere of those districts."
Another concern since the September 11, 2001 attacks is that some mosques could serve as recruiting centres for hardliners.
Neukoelln's conservative mayor Heinz Buschkowsky said the best way to ease concerns was to ensure transparency, notably on how a project is financed, as well as ensuring the building fitted into the local environment.
Funding
Buschkowsky is battling against a plan by a little-known group, Inssan. It was set up two years ago and has only 40 members, yet has submitted proposals for what would be one of the biggest Islamic centres in Germany, complete with cafe, creche and library as well as a prayer room.
"We chose to stay in Germany, so we want convenient places to pray. We will show extremists the door"
Recep Turkogu, a member of the Turkish-Islamic Union for the Office of Religion
The mayor is concerned about Inssan's credibility and source of funds, and says it was a mistake to grant it provisional planning permission.
But neither Piening nor Buschkowsky sees the spate of projects as a sign of any "re-awakening" of Islam, more a consequence of its growing naturalisation into German life, fuelled by competition between rival Islamic groups.
To oppose that trend, as some worried residents are doing in
places such as Kassel, central Germany, is "idiotic," Buschkowsky said, "as if people wanted to go on a Christian crusade again."

The Excellence of Optional Prayers |

The Excellence of Optional Prayers (Sunnah Mu'akkadah) along with the Obligatory Prayers
1097. Umm Habibah (May Allah be pleased with her) the Mother of the Believers reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying, "A house will be built in Jannah for every Muslim who offers twelve Rak`ah of optional Salat other than the obligatory Salat in a day and a night (to seek the Pleasure of Allah).''
[Muslim].
Commentary: Tatawwu` means to offer more Nawafil (optional prayers) on one's own after performing the Faraid (obligatory prayers). Thus, this Hadith tells us the merits of optional prayers and holds promise of (Jannah) for those who make it a practice.
1098. Ibn `Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: I performed along with the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) two Rak`ah of optional prayers before Zuhr and two after the Zuhr (noon prayer), and two after the Friday prayer, and two after the Maghrib (evening) prayer, and two after the `Isha' (night) prayer.''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Commentary: There are two kinds of Nawafil which are performed before or after the obligatory prayer. Firstly, the one which were performed by the Prophet (PBUH) more frequently. According to the present Hadith, their total comes to ten Rak`ah while in other Ahadith their total is twelve or fourteen Rak`ah. They are called Sunnah Mu'akkadah or As-Sunnan Ar-Rawatib That is, the Rak`ah which are proved from the saying and practice of the Prophet (PBUH) and which were performed by him usually. These are said to be Compulsory prayers. Secondly, such Nawafil which were not performed by the Prophet (PBUH) regularly. These are called Sunnah Ghair Mu'akkadah and are said to be Optional prayers. In any case, Nawafil have great importance in creating a special link between the worshipper and Allah, and for this reason the believers do not neglect them. But their status in Shari`ah is of Nawafil the performing of which is rewarding and omission of which is not sinful. One thing that should be borne in mind in respect of As-Sunnan Ar-Rawatib or Mu'akkadah is that it is better to perform them at home. This was the usual practice of the Prophet (PBUH), and this is what he ordained the Muslims.
1099.`Abdullah bin Mughaffal (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "There is a Salat (prayer) between every Adhan and Iqamah; there is a Salat between every Adhan and Iqamah.'' (While saying the same for the) third time (he (PBUH) added), "It is for him who desires (to perform it).''
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Commentary: The two Adhan here means Adhan and Iqamah, as has been elucidated by Imam An-Nawawi. That is, offering of two Rak`ah between Adhan and Iqamah is Mustahabb (desirable). It comes in the category of Ghair Ratiba or Ghair Mu'akkadah Nawafil. These Nawafil can be performed after the Adhan of every Salat before the congregation stands for the obligatory Salat.

Omar ibn al-Khattab Journey to Islam |

Assalamo ALikom.
Allahu Akbar - Allahu Akbar - Allahu Akbar.
Omar was twenty seven when the Holy Prophet began his mission. Young Omar was one of those who did not care to listen to the message of Islam. He was for the old way of life. As years went by, Islam made a slow headway.
This made Omar angry. Do what the Makkan(1) chiefs might, people who once went over to Islam never went back to their old faith. One of Omar's own maid-servants became a Muslim. He beat her as much as he could, but she would not give up the new faith.
At last in the sixth year of the Mission, a number of Muslims left for Abyssinia. This made Omar boil with rage. "Here is a man," he thought to himself "who has split the people. People lived smoothly enough. He appeared on the scene He has torn son from father and brother from brother. Now his followers are running away to another land. Surely Muhammad is the cause of all trouble. I must slay him and put an end to the trouble."
With this resolve Omar drew his sword and set out to kill the Holy Prophet. On the way he met a friend who asked him why he looked so upset. Omar told him what he was going to do. "You better take care of your own kin first," said the friend, "Your sister and her husband have gone over to Islam."
These words changed the direction of Omar's anger. He went straight to the house of his sister, Fatima. He knocked at the door. Someone was reciting the Quran inside. Fatima was terrified when she heard Omar's voice. She hid the portion of the Quran she was reading and opened the door.
"What was it that you were reciting just now?" Omar demanded.
"Oh nothing," said the sister.
"Why nothing?" he shouted in rage.
"I have heard it alright. I know you both have accepted Muhammad's faith."
Saying this, he began to beat his brother-in-law, Saeed. Fatima ran to his help and got a blow to the head. The head began to bleed. This made the couple bold. "Yes, we have become Muslims," they shouted at Omar. "Do what you will."
The sight of the bleeding sister deeply moved Omar. Fatima was such a loving sister! Surely there must be some great truth in the Quran which had won her innocent heart. "Would you let me have a look at the Quran?" said Omar.
Fatima handed him the few pages of the book she had.
Omar sat down to study the pages. Soon his face changed. His anger cooled down. The fear of Allah gripped his heart. He wept and declared, "Surely this is the word of Allah. I bear witness that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah."(2)
Omar was again on his way to the place of the Holy Prophet. But he was a changed man. He was not going to slay him but to embrace his faith.
The Holy Prophet was sitting in the company of some men. He saw Omar coming and asked, "Omar, what brings you here?"
"O Prophet of Allah!" replied Omar, "I have come to embrace Islam."
Great was the joy of the Holy Prophet and his followers. Loud shouts of "Allah is Great" rented the air of Mecca. Soon everyone knew that Omar was no longer an enemy of Islam. It was a great day for Islam because one of its bitterest enemies had become its staunch follower.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Footnotes:
(1) Makkan is people who lived in Makkah.
(2) Although Arabic was their native language, and there were many books written at this time, they had never read a book that can be compared to Qur'an. Many after reading few verses know that this can not be written by any man, so they convert to Islam.

Asalam~O~Alykum
This is a poem my friend wrote about Palestinian children. She wants me 2 share it with u. My friend sent it to me to post it on the website so we could remind ppl that there r still children in Palestine who die and suffer from this war. It seems like that everyone have been soooo busy with their own problems that they forgot about their brothers and sisters who die in Palestine everyday. Hope this reminds ppl who forgot.
Salam~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Masriahmuslimah
I threw myself on the floor,
Screaming please, no more!
I was on my knees,
Begging God please.
Palestinian girl killed,
Palestinian boy killed,
Palestinian son dies,
Palestinian mom cries.
I raised my hands, looked to the sky,
Please Allah, hear a little child's cry.
Another suicide bombing- this time my brother,
I can't stand to see another tear on the face of my mother.
Palestinian girl killed,
Palestinian boy killed,
Palestinian son dies,
Palestinian mom cries.
I know Allah up there hears me,
If you want My Help, My slaves must have sympathy,
Allah hears me, it's the muslims that don't,
They won't turn to Allah, I just don't get why they won't.
Palestinian girl killed,
Palestinian boy killed,
Palestinian son dies,
Palestinian mom cries.
Allah won't help us because of the way muslims are,
From their religion they are so far.
They say they support us, I'm living a lie,
No wonder they can't hear a little child's cry.
Palestinian girl killed,
Palestinian boy killed,
Palestinian son dies,
Palestinian mom cries.
If you want the occupation to end like you say,
And so our people won't have to suffer another day,
Let the good come from within,
And rid us of the terror we live in.
Palestinian girl killed,
Palestinian boy killed,
Palestinian son dies,
Palestinian mom cries.
I send a message to all muslims out there,
You're throwing us to Israel allowing more hearts to tear.
If you don't surrender to Allah and his Quraan,
Israel will continue to plan.
Palestinian girl killed,
Palestinian boy killed,
Palestinian son dies,
Palestinian mom cries.
Every day homes destroyed, people killed, for a child to see it's a terrible sight,
We children can no longer put up a fight.
Can't sleep every night scared I'm gonna die.
People out there, hear your children cry.
Palestinian girl killed,
Palestinian boy killed,
Palestinian son dies,
Palestinian mom cries.
