yes they look scary muslimah i know but actually they are not that scary... they are very scared and do not attack... brother youthofislam LOVES their meat.. he was telling me about it... i would really like to know if they are halaal also....

Well, here I am back again.

Bismillah alrahman alraheem

Iguanas are under the category of lizards I think, and they dont eat meat, so they are halal. Khaled ibn alwaleed once caught a DAB ( it is a kind of lizard that lives in the arabian peninsula) he had slaughtered it cooked it and presented it to prophet Mohammad(pbuh) to eat , the prophet turned his face away when he knew what it was, so khaled said, O, prophet is it haram? so the prophet answered no it is not, it is only I do not like to eat it. So khaled said oh, bismillah and he started eating. Even snakes are halal to eat when u are on jihad or lost in the dessert u can catch it and cut its head off and eat it. So as i c in th pics, iguanas look like the DAB here in the arabian peninsuela, and it is vegetarian , so it is halal, and insha'Allah on sunday I will ask the scholar to confirm this. He told us before that any animal that does not eat meat is halal, still by will of Allah I will confirm with him on sunday.

here is a hadeeth about Dab:

‏حدثنا ‏ ‏محمد بن مقاتل أبو الحسن ‏ ‏أخبرنا ‏ ‏عبد الله ‏ ‏أخبرنا ‏ ‏يونس ‏ ‏عن ‏ ‏الزهري ‏ ‏قال أخبرني ‏ ‏أبو أمامة بن سهل بن حنيف الأنصاري ‏ ‏أن ‏ ‏ابن عباس ‏ ‏أخبره أن ‏ ‏خالد بن الوليد ‏

‏الذي يقال له سيف الله أخبره أنه دخل مع رسول الله ‏ ‏صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ ‏على ‏ ‏ميمونة ‏ ‏وهي خالته وخالة ‏ ‏ابن عباس ‏ ‏فوجد عندها ضبا ‏ ‏محنوذا ‏ ‏قد قدمت به أختها ‏ ‏حفيدة بنت الحارث ‏ ‏من ‏ ‏نجد ‏ ‏فقدمت الضب لرسول الله ‏ ‏صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ ‏وكان قلما يقدم يده لطعام حتى يحدث به ويسمى له فأهوى رسول الله ‏ ‏صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ ‏يده إلى الضب فقالت ‏ ‏امرأة ‏ ‏من النسوة الحضور أخبرن رسول الله ‏ ‏صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ ‏ما قدمتن له هو الضب يا رسول الله فرفع رسول الله ‏ ‏صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ ‏يده عن الضب فقال ‏ ‏خالد بن الوليد ‏ ‏أحرام الضب يا رسول الله قال ‏ ‏لا ولكن لم يكن بأرض قومي فأجدني أعافه قال ‏ ‏خالد ‏ ‏فاجتررته فأكلته ورسول الله ‏ ‏صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ ‏ينظر إلي

translates as"

Narrated Abou Umamah Ibn Sahl Ibn Haneef El Ansari that Ibn Abbass told him that Khaled Ibn El Waleed who is named sword of Allah told him that he was with the Messenger of Allah (PAPBUH) when they entered to Maymouna who is his and Ibn Abbass's aunt (maternal), they found a Dab brought to her by her sister Hafeedah Ibnautl hareth from Najd. She offered the Dab to Rasoul Alla, it was rare that the Messenger of Allah (PAPBUH) puts his hands to food unless he inquires first about it and know what it is. He put his hands to the Dab, so a woman who was present told him that what was offered to him was Dab, he took his hand off it, Khaled Ibn El Waleed asked O Messenger of Allah is the Dab haram? He said no, but it was not seen in the land of my people, I find myself not wanting to eat it. Khaled said, I pulled it and ate it while the Messenger of Allah (PAPBUH) looking at me" (reported by Bukhari)
