Is birthcontrol halaal in islam?
#21

I thought we needed to know whether or not your reasons for birth control were valid or not......

Contraception (Azl) is permissible on a limited scale for valid reasons -

reasons considered by the Shariáh to be valid. The circumstances which will

permit reversible and permanent contraception differ.

Reversible contraception: Among the reasons accepted by the Shariáh as valid

for practising reversible contraception are:

a)Physical weakness.

b)Sickness.

c) The wife maintaining her beauty or figure for the sake of her

husband.

d) The couple being on a journey or in a distant land.

e) Adverse political conditions, e.g. children are forcibly separated from their parents as is advocated by communism; etc.

f) The couple decide to separate in the near future.

g) The wife is an immoral person.

Those are valid grounds for practising reversible contraception. Poverty or the fear of poverty are not valid reasons for contraception. It is not permissible to practice contraception on account of a fear of not being able to provide for a large family. Such a fear is an attribute of non-Muslims.

According to the Quran:

'There is not a living creature, but its sustenance is the responsibility of Allah.'

Similarly desire to curb sexual desire which may stem out of piety is not a lawful ground for contraception.

If practised for any reason which is unlawful in Islam, then contraception will likewise be unlawful, e.g. for indulgence in illicit sex.

Permanent contraception is permissible only if the woman's life is in danger or her health is seriously threatened.

Hadhrat Abu Saéed Khudhry (RA) reports that one person asked Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) about Azal (Coitus Interruptus). Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) replied, 'When Allah Taãla intends creating a child, nothing can stop him.' (Mishkãt pg. 275; Qadeemi)

Quote:I have been learning so much about the pill myself lately. It's suppose to be quite effective.

Allah knows best.

Bismilah

I take that back. I wouldn't suggest this to anyone. Please Please don't start taking the pill because of ANYTHING I said.

I discovered somehting that freaked me out....and I'll never ever try to recommend it, I will also not use it ever!!

There are other forms of contraception, the condom is an option (the safest).

I am not saying dont use the pill, I know that it works for some people, All im saying is I take back what I said!

May Allah forgive me.........

Have you heard of Natural Family Planning? Google it!

Any form of artificial contraception abuses the holiness & sanctity of marriage & is an act of desecration, not to mention it lowers your spouse to a mere object of self-gratification.

Abstinence is the only form of "contraception" that's 100% effective. There's no reason why you can't be chaste within a marriage. Sacrifice sure beats sin!

Abstinence!!!!!!

Islam is a DEEN, a way of life. Islam speaks about sex... It's not a taboo subject. therefore there are many advices on it in islam.. and as far as i know, Abstinence is frowned upon in islam for a man to abstain from his wife and for a wife to abstain from her husband.

This denys each other their right upon each other..

The quran says that your spouses are tilth upon you and you are upon them so enter them as you please..

In fact i am of the firm belief that such ideologies can cause even more sin when husbands are not satisfied by their wives and the wives are not satisfied by their husbands....

SUBHANALLAH!!!!

Quote:My intended wife and I both discussed a family and I do want a large family. I love family. I am the kinda guy that wants a whole lotta kids and all that. However due to other circumstances (most of which no one would even believe if they knew so dont try to guess :)) I need to look into birth control.

This taken from Alims in mmy country:

" All forms of reversible contraception (e.g. condoms, IUD, etc.) are permissible on condition that it is not used out of fear of poverty and also that it is consentual between husband and wife. Hadhrat Abu Saéed Khudhry (RA) reports that one person asked Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) about Azal (Coitus Interruptus). Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) replied, ‘When Allah Taãla intends creating a child, nothing can stop him.’ (Mishkãt pg. 275; Qadeemi) "

Peace neseeha :peace:

Sorry for the delay. I didn't subscribe to email notification & I only just realized that you posted a reply to my entry.

I was referring to abstinence as a form of natural contraception - LOL! To be chaste within a marriage means to abstain from sexual intercourse during ovulation (when conception is likely to occur). Of course, this method is only recommended when a couple want to hold off having children for valid reasons.

God isn't against sex! You can say that again! He wants married couples to have the best authentic sex life! But sex without an openness to new life is haram on many different levels! It defeats the primary purpose of why God created the sexual act. That's why Islam is against homosexual relations... right?

Think about it!

Hello. That’s rather difficult innit. Can you predict or time the ovulation exactly ? and not risk getting pregnant? :conf06:

No islam is not against Homosexuality :placate: not only on those basis. There are a lot more reasons/

Hi PUPPET :)

Quote:Hello. That’s rather difficult innit.

It's the most effective & efficient!

There's a difference between the rhythm method & Natural Family Planning (you can find heaps of NFP info on the web). The chances of a couple falling pregnant on NFP is less than 1% - far lower than those using artificial contraception :thumb:

I said homosexual relations... not homosexuality ;)

Courtesy of an apologetic friend of mine...

This approach relies on reason and doesn't ask anyone to assume Catholicism's position is right to begin with.

Q. Why do you eat and have a digestive system?

A. To stay alive.

Q. Is staying alive the primary purpose of eating?

A. Eating has many purposes (enjoyment, appetite, health and life), but life is the main reason we eat.

Q. Is it unnatural to eat for all purposes except life? In other words, is bulimia, eating deadly poison for no good reason, eating plastic bags etc a bad thing?

A. Yes.

Q. So it is ok to enjoy the secondary purposes, but we can not do so at the expense of the primary purpose?

A. Yes.

Q. What is the sexual faculty for?

A. Life.

Then the argument continues as above.
