Assalamu aleikum sisters,

This is a salute to the HIJAB.

SubhanAllah it is so nice to partake in your positive experiences. The hijab is really powerful, and I feel so glad that Allah, SWT, did give us guidance to wear it. Alhamdullillah.

I am sure that some of you also have struggled a lot before starting to wear it? I did a lot of thinking and 'talking' to myself and tried for months to put it on. I did then live in Sweden. I will just tell you two things that comes in mind when I finally did put it on, the right way.

I had two collegues at work, non Muslims that I worked close with, and they knew about my struggle. So one day I said, tomorrow inshaAllah I will come to work with my hijab on. On my way to the bus, I was so nervous, but the thought came to mind (Allah's guidance no doubt) IF this bustrip goes fine, I will make it! When entering the bus everyone took their seat, there were several free seats. At the next stop a young man enters the bus comes up to where I was sitting and just casted a short glance at me, and sat down beside me. No funny looks, no thought of 'I will not sit there I will take another seat'. And I thought inshaAllah this will be just fine. Allah, SWT, showed me He will make me strong to put it on every day from now on. When arriving to work, there was a bit of a turbulens, but most of them behaved respectfully. The next day we had a big meeting with the highest director in the company and all the employees gathered. Most of them had not seen me in my new ID (that is a great word for it Muslimah!) not even my nearest chief and I run into him in the hallway and he said 'you look so cute' - was I surprised. And then I was placed at the same table as the company director, he greeted me but looked at me above his glasses and did not say anymore. On the other hand there was a woman also sitting at this table and she raised a lot of positive questions.

That is some of my first emotions when starting to wear this beautiful peace of textile called hijab.

Share your stories sisters, I never get tired of talking or listening about the hijab, it is so special.

MashaAllah your story reminded me of my first day to school with my hijab on. Alhamdulilah that your work colleagues were so friendly and welcoming to you. I pictured everything infront of me ( your story), I am really happy that Allah gave you enough courage and Imaan to wear your hijab. You know what I noticed? Everytime you take a step to become a better muslim with a sincere intention Allah makes it all so easy for us. I think your story is so similar with my Sister, My Sister was working in a bank when she decided to become a hijabi, At first she was worried that she would be in an environment where people would look at her badly and not show her respect for practising her Islam, she also told us that if any problems would arise in her work because of her hijab she would be ready to quit. But guess what? She was made a supervisor there. Thats what I meant by if you really want to do an act of worship in order to please ALLAH, Allah will make it easy for you and reward.

Before I even wore my hijab I used to practise my Islam, so I didn't really end up losing a lot of friends. Besides the kind of friends who would not want to have anything to do with someone because of their hijab are not REAL friends anyway. Because REAL friends stay friends forever. right? Quote:I am sure that some of you also have struggled a lot before starting to wear it?

To be really honest, I didn't struggle a lot, not with the decision making (I did it almost instantly). A muslim woman who was in her 80's, she was our neighbour. She would often visit us and she knew me quite well. I used to view her as my grandmother and thats what I used to call her. One day she came to our house and she gave me a tape, The tape was basically telling about the story of when Prophet mohamed (Alaihi salatu wasalam) was shown Hell, and while I was listening. I heard how the prophet was describing the punishments that women who wear jeans/pants were getting. Further more I also listened of how the prophet described the punishments he saw women who didn't wear the hijab were getting. At that night I really pictured myself to be one of those women and I became very scared and ashamed. I was shivering and shacking out of fear all night. However I knew that I had a lot of choices and that it wasn't too late for me like those women mentioned in hell. The very next day I went through my aunties wardrobe and I got myself a hijab. Thats how I started wearing my hijab, I'm relieved that I don't have to worry about going to Jahanam-Hell because I didn't wear my hijab or because I didn't cover myself. Of-course only Allah knows where I'll end up, but I hope it's not in Hell.

I don't regret a thing, the only thing i regret is that I didn't start sooner.

Keep sharing your stories Sisters, I always leave smiling everytime I read what you write, its so englightening and Interesting. [Image: biggrin.gif]

May Allah bless you and continue to guide to the right path till your last breath ameen.

Assalamu aleikum sister Intuition,

Shukran for your kind words sister, inshaAllah we will ALL receive the blessings of Allah, SWT.

''Everytime you take a step to become a better muslim with a sincere intention Allah makes it all so easy for us.'' Yes, I agree on this, it is exactly how it feels like. He gives us the strength to always take another step into being a better and stronger Muslim.

MashaAllah about your sisters story, I am happy for her.

You are right about friends too. All of my old friends decided to remain, so I am doing daw'ah almost every time I write to them. Some relatives left, but alhamdullillah now sister we have the whole Muslim Ummah as relatives.

Yes sister the thought of the Hellfire for not using the Hijab is also a thing to bear in mind. When we got such excellent guidance, easy to understand, why should we not obey? There may be other things that one is not yet aware of that one has to do, that is one thing, but when they appear, then it is just to listen to what Allah, SWT, says about it and follow.

And yes also to 'not start earlier'. For me that also goes for Islam itself since I came to Islam not young but much later. Alhamdullillah.

Wasalama for now, your sister

I usually do not reply to your one-liners JD, but I must ask about whether or not you have any preferences of traits that you look for in a woman?

Dirty greasy hair usually means that one is a dirty person, especially if there is a smell. A woman who wears pretty much her underwear in a nightclub is probably not a virgin. Of course there are exceptions but I can only go by what I observe. For me a woman who wears a hijab is probably more sincere in her devotion to Allah and in following Islam. Of course there are exceptions but in this country, women do not usually wear a hijab out of cultural reasons. Ya' know.

I think it is rediculous to call someone narrow minded because they prefer a certain type of person as a mate, everyone does this. I did not say that I would not talk to people who did not adhere to my beliefs. THAT would be narrow minded. Do you agree? (If you don't I am not suprised... Alsalam 'alaykom

Quote:36. Hijab is a source of confidence. Non-Muslims easily recognize you to be different and do not stare when you stand up for you Islamic rights and beliefs which are often considered strange in the western society.

This is very true, where i work i have to walk in a bit long hall to reach my elevator, many foreigners walk there because our office is located near a hotel with a mall with shops, and many would be walking waiting for the shops to open, they are tourists that are not used to our society customes, but when they c a muhajaba they would lower their gaze and move giving u the way to pass, and when they c a non muhajaba they will keep on starring as if they were going to eat her up just like a peice of meat as u said.

I was not forced to wear hijab, Alhamdulilah Allah guided me from a long time to wear it, when muhajabat were very little and the hijab was considered to be lost, i wor it in the mid of 1980, which means 24 years now Alhamdulilah, and the past 4 years I am more strict in my dressing i do not wear much of colors and i wear very loose jilbab, and I pray to Allah that I will one day reach to what sister jeniffer reached ameen. Alhamdulilah now every1 is returning to Allah's path, even those who lost astray because of their societies and Alhamdulilah we can c muhajabat all over the globe, thanks for the clean media and efforts of da'wa. Quote:ps I would not marry a woman without a hijab either.

Yes exactly brother a true muhajaba insha'Allah that is pure from within her soul, and appearance as well, may Allah grant u what u r longing for [Image: smile.gif].

Quote:Think i'm going to have to send this post to my girlfriend in an anonymous email, to try and convince her, think it'll work anyone? It's convinced me!!

Insha'Allah it'll work brother y not give it a try [Image: smile.gif]

Quote:But the positive reactions are also to be found. When I started to wear it, some sisters that I had no idea they practised Islam, came up to me and greeted me and told me that they thought it was great that I had it on me and said, mashaAllah 'you that are not a born Muslim wear it and we that are born Muslims do not'. MashaAllah

Masha'Allah sister may Allah strengthen your eman Ameeen, and increase your alms Ameen.

sister intuition jazaky Allah khayr for this wonderful post [Image: smile.gif]
