Congratulating, And Happy News

Quote:But I'm curious, are those traditions you mentioned still carried out in countries like the United States where it is usually illegal to sacrifice animals?

Well, Yeah it's just a matter of buying what you want to slaughter I think. Of course you have to have the authority to carry that out. Here in NZ they'll send you to a training, a muslim org, they teach Brothers how to do that, then they get some certificate saying that he is qualified to do so. There are probably some restrictions on places that the animal can/can't be slaughtered etc, but i dont know much about that.

Quote:so I didn't know if it was still common practice (in less muslim populated countries) or not.

It is very quite common here.

Firstly,

CONGRADULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!

Secondly, PeaceInIreland,

I live in New Jersey..... and even HERE we have slaughter houses...... from what I've been told by a Muslim (in NJ by the way)..... is that you can have someone who is trained to go to the slaughter house with you and perform the deed. There is a place like this only 10 minutes from my house. You walk in ..... they take you to the animals.... you size them up, see which one you want...... and then they kill it for you, clean it up, chop it up, or whatever you want done with it.

What is illegal in the United States as far as animal sacrifice.... is the crazy nonsense of teenage kids have Satanic rituals in their backyards killing their neighbors cats and dogs.

If a person lives on a farm, PeaceInIreland, they can kill whatever the heck they want.... as long as the animal was raised for killing. A farmer can do with his property whatever he likes,... his animals are his property. What you also may be confusing this with... is some sort of animal cruelty that is illegal.

Just the word animal sacrifice alone is a very foreign term in the United States. It makes the whole thing seem somewhat "odd". However, if you sat down and read your Bible dear sir..... I would like you to count how many times God recieved calves as a sacrifice.

This thread was started with good news..... so I don't want to hijack it with debate on animal sacrifice. So, I'll close my post with best wishes for the new baby girl, and her family.... I wish her health and happiness!!!!!

Congrats Islam!!! I would give you the standard "oh it's gonna be so tough, etc etc" that all dads give new dads, but you've obviously gone through all that previously. So may Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) bless you and your chidlren and make raising your new one easy for you and your wife.

Assalamu aleikum,

Sorry brother for deviating from your very good news.

Just want to add something to PII,s question.

In Sweden for example it is not allowed to slaughter in the way given by Allah, SWT. They prefer to slaughter in a way that is painful and very stressing for the animals. Strange but true.

So when my two oldest children were born in Sweden, the slaughter of animal for them was made here in Morocco instead.

Sorry for this interruption,

Wasalam

Salam everyone,

Congratulations Islam! MashaAllah you have a new baby girl, how wonderful!

There are lots of new babies in my community as well... we had 3 a'qeeqahs during the last 2 weeks of Ramadan! SubhanAllah, Intuition is right, this is baby season [Image: tongue.gif]

Let me just mention something about Pii's question. Muslimah talked about the a'qeeqah and the sacrifice and charity...

but I understand when a baby is born it is custom (sunnah?) to rub a softened date on his/her palate... the medical benefits of this have been confirmed, since a date is naturally very sugary and the immediate rush of sugar is good for the infant. Also it is custom to whisper the adhan in the baby's right ear, and the iqama (short version of adhan) in the baby's left ear.

Am I wrong about this??
