I would like very much to share some news with all of you, yesterday at 3.30 am my wife and I had a baby girl. We named her Hajjar.


Now finally my 5 old year daughter Hind had a sister as she only had brothers.


Alhamdulelah she came to attend the last day of this blessed month with us. May Allah bless her life and Makes her a soldier who spread the message of Islam.

Not to take away from this post, but I had a question regarding muslims babies. Is there any sort of ritual that a newborn muslim baby goes through (like christening for christians)? If there are, could you tell me about them? If not.... well then I guess this question would be rather moot now wouldn't it? hahaha.

PII we dont have the concept of Christinization because each human being is born Muslim even u if u dont mind me telling u. So this is the original status Allah Creates us on. But there are some rituals though. On the 7th day of the birth, the baby is names, a sacrifice is slaughtered, one sheep for a baby girl and 2 for a babyboy. The sacrifice is divided into 3 parts. One third to be given away for charity, one third as a present to family members, neighbours or other, and one third to be cooked and eaten at home. Also on that same day the hair of the baby (i know it is so thin) is shaved and weighed with similar amount of sliver and given away for charity. This is called A`qeeqah.

Not at all. I understand that that is what Muslims believe and I'm fine with that. Jeez, I hope I'm not that much of a boogie-man around here!


But I'm curious, are those traditions you mentioned still carried out in countries like the United States where it is usually illegal to sacrifice animals? I've just never heard of anyone doing that, so I didn't know if it was still common practice (in less muslim populated countries) or not.
