Are American and European muslims more liberal?
#32

Hmmm.

My initial intent was not to defend Shiism, because I didn't realize I would have to. So, no naseeha, I'm not here to create discord. However, as I have said before, Shia beliefs also fall under the purvue of "Islam," as it exists today. This is a fact, and non-Muslims looking to learn about Islam should understand that.

Why do you say that I am "preaching" Shia values? Have I at any point said that they are better than Sunni ones? I'm pointing out that they exist, and that those studying Islam should be aware of their existence.

I'm sorry that you find 20% of your Muslim brethren disgusting, but the fact of the matter is that they took the same shahadat you did, and they read the same scripture you do. You may not like the beliefs they hold, but those beliefs are steeped in oral tradition and scripture in the same way sunni beliefs are.

If indeed discussion of shias is not permitted on this board, then it is not a place for the open discussion of what "Islam" is.

salaam
