What about the Beard???

Thanks saalik for your advice i have also heard this hadith... However I see many muslim men "marking their sideburns" and leaving the rest of the beard to grow....

also i heard someone mention of growing the beard to a certain length(i.e a fists length) does anyone know the daleel for this...

right now mine is not marked or anything and i have no intention of doing so.. but i would still like to know the proper islamic method... please help..
