Guidelines on interactions with Non-Muslims
#3

Bismillah: Assalamo Alikum.

Quote:Muslim males are allowed to take Christian and Jewish women as wives. But, you say that muslims are not allowed to love Christians or Jews.

He does not say that, he was talking about the disbelievers in general, not just about Jews or Christians. However, the love that is forbidden here is to love what they are doing in regards to their false beliefs (i.e worshipping other than God, bowing down to some statues made by men etc…), but to love non Muslims for their good behavior and treating us nicely is actually recommended in Islam, and in return we should also treat them the same way.

The Prophet Prophet Mohammad pbuh let a delegate of Banu Thaqeef tribe stay in his mosque in Madinah even if they were non Muslims. It was to show them courtesy and respect, if we are to hate Non Muslims, the Prophet would have never allowed them even to enter his mosque.

Alo, Caliph Omar Ibn El Khattab may Allah be pleased with him, used to give scholarships to needy disbelievers from the government treasury. Why should he do that if we are commanded to hate disbelievers?

again, Caliph Ali may Allah be pleased with him narrated that Prophet Mohammad pbuh has said, “Allah has prohibited that I inflict cruelty on a disbeliever living in an Islamic State.”

also he has said: “I shall plead on the day of judgment on behalf of a disbeliever who was harmed or whose due right was diminished or if more than bearable pressure was exerted on him or if something was taken from him without his consent by a believer.”

So I guess relationship between believers and disbelievers is very fair, honorable and logic.

Quote:Therefore, under Islamic law, a Muslim male is not allowed to show any affection or friendship towards his non-Muslim wives. Correct???

Absolutely incorrect, the Prophet Muhammad pbuh clearly states that the best among his nation is he who is best to his wives… he doesn’t mention that this wife has to be a Muslim to be treated well.

Salam

Wael.
