Some Words to Heal the Broken Heart
#5

As-salaam Alikum,

Quote:U also know that the Messenger of Allah Salah Allahu a`alehi wa sallam said what means that two parts of the body if they are perfect the whole body would be perfect and if they are corrupt the whole body would be corrupt the heart and the tongue.[/quote:45891fac25]Its only the heart Muslimah.

Sahih Al-Bukhari:

Volumn 001, Book 002, Hadith Number 049.

-----------------------------------------

Narated By An-Nu'man bin Bashir : I heard Allah's Apostle saying, 'Both legal and illegal things are evident but in between them there are doubtful (suspicious) things and most of the people have no knowledge about them. So whoever saves himself from these suspicious things saves his religion and his honor. And whoever indulges in these suspicious things is like a shepherd who grazes (his animals) near the Hima (private pasture) of someone else and at any moment he is liable to get in it. (O people!) Beware! Every king has a Hima and the Hima of Allah on the earth is His illegal (forbidden) things. Beware! There is a piece of flesh in the body if it becomes good (reformed) the whole body becomes good but if it gets spoilt the whole body gets spoilt and that is the heart.[/color:45891fac25]

As-far as the tongue, there are a lot of Ahadith that talk about the tongue and how it could harm the Muslim:

On the authority of Sufyan bin `Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) who reported: I said: O Messenger of Allah, command me something by which I should hold fast. He (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

Say: My Lord is Allah and then remain steadfast. Then I said: O Messenger of Allah! What do you fear most in my case? He said that he caught hold of his tongue and said this.[/color:45891fac25]

(Reported by Al-Tirmidhi)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lessons deduced:

- The hadith includes a command that one should make his Faith firm at first, then stick to righteous deeds.

- The hadith warns against indulging in nonsensical speech as it hardens one's heart and deprives him of Allah's mercy.

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:

Allah's Messenger (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) observed:

He who believes in Allah and the Last Day should either utter good words or better keep silent; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should treat his neighbor with kindness; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day should show hospitality to his guest. [/color:45891fac25]

(Agreed-upon)

Lessons deduced:

_______________

1- The signs of belief include uttering good words or keeping silent.

2- The Hadith exhorts the Muslim to treat his neighbors and his guests with kindness.

3- Belief bears fruitful results such as treating the neighbors with kindness, uttering good words, generosity etc.

Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)

had said:

That who misappropriates the right of a Muslim by taking a false oath, Allah will make the fire of Hell obligatory for him, and Paradise will be forbidden for him. A man said to him: Messenger of Allah, even if it is something insignificant? He replied: Yes, even if it is the twig of the Arak tree[/color:45891fac25].

(Reported by Muslim)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lessons deduced

1. The hadith is a warning to whoever unjustly devours the rights of others.

2. A Muslim should hasten to repent and pay back people’s rights.

3. It is prohibited to devour people’s rights, however little.

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had said:

The Muslim is the brother to the Muslim. He should neither deceive him, nor tell a lie on him, nor disgrace or shame him. Everything (of these three things) of a Muslim is (sacred, and thus) inviolable by another Muslim: his honor, blood and property. Piety is here (and he pointed out to his chest thrice). A Muslim can be sure that he has committed a grievous sin, if he degrades his Muslim brother. [/color:45891fac25]

(Agreed upon)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lessons deduced

1. The blood, money and honor of Muslims are sanctified.

2. Having disdain for Muslims is one of the most grievous sins, because the Muslim is honored by Allah.

3. When the good Muslim predecessors adhered to such hadiths, they became a strong nation, most feared by their enemies. They dominated other nations and peoples. Yet in later times, when the Muslims ignored these hadiths, differences arose between them and they even fought among each other.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Holy Prophet (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had said:

Give tidings (to the people); do not create (in their minds) aversion (towards religion); show them leniency and do not be hard upon them. [/color:45891fac25]

(Reported by Al-Bukhari)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lessons deduced

1. A Muslim should also avoid violence and severity with people so that they will not be reluctant to accept his advice.

2. Islam is based on easiness in obligation and legislation. It does not oblige people to do things beyond their abilities.

3. Taking a hard line in following the religious obligations leads to hardship and difficulty.

On the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) who narrated that the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had said:

During the night journey (Mi`raj), I saw a group of people who were scratching their chests and faces with their copper nails. I asked, who are these peoples, Gabriel replied that these are the people who eat the flesh of each other (by backbiting) and slander them.[/color:45891fac25]

(Reported by Abu Dawud)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lessons deduced:

- This hadith gives a grave warning against backbiting. The backbiter is like the one who eats the flesh of people.

On the authority of Ibn `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) who reported that the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

Do not indulge in superfluous talk except the remembrance of Allah because much talk without the remembrance of Allah hardens the heart and those will be the farthest from Allah whose hearts are hard. [/color:45891fac25]

(Reported by Al-Tirmidhi) ([u:45891fac25]Hadith Dae'f[/u:45891fac25][/color:45891fac25]) ([u:45891fac25]Weak Hadith[/u:45891fac25][/color:45891fac25])

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lessons deduced:

- A Muslim should restrain his tongue and talk about things that only lead to Allah's satisfaction. One should also guard his genitals against committing what is prohibited.

On the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) who reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying:

That the bondsman would utter the word thoughtlessly that he will fall down into the fire of Hell farther than the distance between the East and the West.[/color:45891fac25]

(Agreed upon)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lessons deduced:

- A Muslim will achieve high levels in Paradise if he speaks with goodness and keep away from vicious talk as it leads to Hellfire.
