Prophet Mohamed's patience, wisdom and mercy was very noteworthy. In this situation, Hateb Ibn Balta`a who was one of the close companions who fought Badr, came to know as other close companions that the Messenger salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam is preparing to open Mecca. Hateb, met a woman from Mecca and gave her a letter to Quraish leaders warning them againt Mohamed's plan. Angle Jabreel informed Mohamed salla Allah a1lyhee wa sallam. Now let us examine what did the wise leader do to handle the disclosure of a military secret? did he immediately command for the execution of the perpeturator? no. First he called Ali and Zobair may Allah be pleased with both of them. He informed them in detail about the location and status of the woman where they will meet her riding over a camel. He commanded them to get the letter from her by any means or kill her. They took off and met the woman where exactly he told them she will be. They asked her about the letter, but she denied. They threatened her to kill or take off her clothes, she asked arent you Muslims? they said yes but the Messenger sallah Allah alyee wa sallam confirmed u have a letter. At this point, she took it off her hair. They went back. Mohamed salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam called in Hateb and started investigating. He asked him what made you do that? he knew that he must be having a strong motive for this, but didnt want to make assumptions. Just look at the mercy and wisdom in handling dire situaitons. Unlike leaders of these days who punish first, and I mean leaders on any level, even parents. Hateb replied a very meaningful reply saying in the name of Allah I never turned to Kufr after believing, never cheated you after advising you and never loved them after hating them. But I m a stranger among you here and each one of you has relatives back ther to defend their family except me. I just wanted to have a point with them while at the same time I was confident that this letter shall never help in any way or cause them victory over you.
omar as usual took off his sowrd asking for the Messenger's permission to kill him. Mohamed salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam said stop he fought Badr and how would you know that Allah on that day Promised this group full forgiveness.
