Alsalam 'alaykom Iftikhar, welcome to the board and jazak Allah khayr for this post, but still what that professor said is true in a way, because as we see that most imams in masjids in europe are not qualified graduated scholars. This is a very sensitive subject, an Imam must have very high characteristics so that he is followed, any1 can become relegious in a week and so then become an imam of a masjid without understanding islam properly, and then those youth are fed with wrong understandings that turn them into extremists, from this side the british governement and the oficial Islamic organizations in britain should have control on these masjids and to assign well qualified imams who are not fundamentalist, in our arab countries the imams are chosen by the ministry of Awqaf and islamic affairs, the imams are well chosen, they are graduated scholars who are highly educated. So this is where in my opinion the british governement has went wrong. We cannot put all blames on the schools, we have here on our board muslim pakistani students and they never complained about their schools.

Who said that, [img]style_emoticons/default/blink.gif[/img] , was The Quran in Urdu Iftikhar [img]style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif[/img] , to understand the spirit of Islam, and to understand The Holy Quran as it was revealed on Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) u must learn Arabic as u said. Urdu is okay as a mother tongue, but it has nothing to do with the spirit of Islam.
