He criticised the Muslim community, Muslim parents, Masajid and Imams for all the problems of the Muslim youths. In my view British education system and native teachers are responsible, who have no respect for Islamic values, languages and Muslim community. British education is the home of institutional racism. The schools and the teaching profession never tried to meet the needs and demands of Pakistani or Muslim children. They need a different approach in education. The native teachers do not have a clue of their mother tongues and values. There is a negative co-relation between school and home. The children come to schools with different values which have no place in English schools. They are victim of bullying through out their school life. The result is that they suffer from Identity Crises, making them mis-fit not only for the Muslim community but also for the host society. Majority of them leave schools with low grades or without any qualification. They suffer from mental, emotional and personality problems due to the fact that they have been mis-educated and de-educated by a system which does not understand them. In my view British education is responsible for all the problems of Pakistani youths, and not the parents, Masajid or Imams. Pakistani bilingual children need state funded Muslim schools with bilingual Muslim teachers as role models. They need to learn Standard English to follow the National Curriculum and to go for higher studies and research to serve humanity. They need to learn Arabic to recite and understand the Holly Quran. They need to learn Urdu language to study and enjoy the beauty of Urdu literature and poetry and to keep in touch with their cultural roots. Most of Islamic literature and poetry is in Urdu and without learning Urdu they are unable to understand the spirit of Islam. Iftikhar Ahmad British Pakistani Youths - radiyah - 07-19-2005 Bismillah Alsalam 'alaykom Iftikhar, welcome to the board and jazak Allah khayr for this post, but still what that professor said is true in a way, because as we see that most imams in masjids in europe are not qualified graduated scholars. This is a very sensitive subject, an Imam must have very high characteristics so that he is followed, any1 can become relegious in a week and so then become an imam of a masjid without understanding islam properly, and then those youth are fed with wrong understandings that turn them into extremists, from this side the british governement and the oficial Islamic organizations in britain should have control on these masjids and to assign well qualified imams who are not fundamentalist, in our arab countries the imams are chosen by the ministry of Awqaf and islamic affairs, the imams are well chosen, they are graduated scholars who are highly educated. So this is where in my opinion the british governement has went wrong. We cannot put all blames on the schools, we have here on our board muslim pakistani students and they never complained about their schools. Quote:Most of Islamic literature and poetry is in Urdu and without learning Urdu they are unable to understand the spirit of Islam. Who said that, , was The Quran in Urdu Iftikhar , to understand the spirit of Islam, and to understand The Holy Quran as it was revealed on Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) u must learn Arabic as u said. Urdu is okay as a mother tongue, but it has nothing to do with the spirit of Islam. well, welcome again to our board, hope to c more of your posts. Salam British Pakistani Youths - muhseen - 07-19-2005 Fa subhan-allah British Pakistani Youths - amma - 07-21-2005 salam Im a british pakitani myself and i agree with u radiyah learning urdu has nothing to do with the spirit of islam. Yes it might be of help to like people who don't know english, cant read it or nething, so to them they learn everythign in urdu, but thats a different issue. I haven't had any problems with my my schools i have been to. I live in an area which is highly populated with many pakistani muslims and muslims from other cultures. I found that there arent any bullying problems in schools or nething like that. All children no matter wot religion or from wot culture all work togther and evrything. There are loads of mosque or places for children or people of all ages to go an learn about Islam. There is a difference of opnion on issues that arise from one mosque , one imam to another, which in turn i think confuses some1 who is tryin to learn sumthing about islam. I think that imams should be appionted very carefully. British Pakistani Youths - radiyah - 07-25-2005 Bismillah Quote:I think that imams should be appionted very carefully. Exactly, this is the core of the problem and a very important issue, I hope the british governement will look into this matter seriously. wasalam British Pakistani Youths - Shereen - 07-29-2005 I think this prob is with every Muslim community who r new & have these difficulties |
