Bismillah,
First of all I must apologize to mod since we are a bit out of subject here, just trying to end this thread, but it went a bit astray...
John, our assumptions were pointing at what you wrote in the earlier post, but I did not quote it, and it was ''Choice does not exist in an islamic world. I would be killed as a heretic, blasphemer or a fornicator or for worshipping my lightstand. And that is a fact. What a gift indeed, return to sender. ''
Why do you assume you would be doing all those bad things if you were a true believer? And do you truly believe that what you describe is the daily life of most Muslims? It sounds like you describe people that do not believe in their hearts and do not fear Him at all. When people find the Truth in their heart, they will be ABLE to distinguish so much easier between what IS right and wrong. You look so negatively on this or is it just Islam that awakens these feelings? If you are a positive person, if you already try to do the right things and avoid what is wrong and not good for you or people around you, then why is Islam so frightening? The guidance, His guidance will be so clear that your heart will always direct itself to the right path, the right way to do things. It will come so much easier. And you will gain the understanding why you are here and why you always try to do the right things. This all hangs together, belief - beingness - doing right - future.
''I am open to the truth. ''
Sounds good. Take your steps from that position. If I may add - with an open and sincere heart and mind too.
Regards
