Quote:I read some where and forgive me if i am wrong on this, but i read that there is actually no face veil in Islam, the entire face veil with just the eyes showing is Zoroastrian in origin later adopted by persians. The Quran doesnt actually enjoin women with face veils? Of course correct me if i'm wrong, just wondering.
However on another note, the woman shouldnt have to get to the point where she feels like this. Surely there's some other way they could confirm it's her before she actually steps out in front of the Jury.
First of all, Holy Qur'an do commands 'Hijab' for the female Believers. However, its style is a 'cultural mode' and the interpretation of this command varies, for example, many scholars think that the command was for the 'wives of the Prophet (pbuh)'.
Second, Zoroastrianism originated in Persia - Therefore, it was not the Persians who 'adopted' it as if it was a foreign culture. On the other hand, the women belonging to 'upper class' among the Greek, Chinese and Roman used to wear 'Niqab' even before the Persian started.
Yes, I agree no Muslimah should go to such extreme, but then as taxpayer, doesn't she has the right to be provided by a female 'court official' by the US Department of Justice?
