Assalamu aleikum sister Intuition,
Yes sister your friends daughter is a QUESTIONER. She is definitely trying to learn, insha'Allah I hope her mother will have sabr enough for all the new questions that surely will arrive together with the new baby, masha'Allah, will she be busy.
Yes you are so right in that we cannot do it all by ourselves when raising our children, it is due to the will of Allah, SWT. 2:272 as you quoted from the Qur'an tells us that it is not in our power, but insha'Allah we always anyway will try to do our outmost, it is our responsibility.
My daughter that is 13 did put her hijab on when she was 10 years old. I told her to wait a bit, so that she would be sure to never take it off again, but she insisted, and still it is on her, masha'Allah. So during these years she has been rather alone in wearing it in school. Just the other day she told me that one of her classmates did tell her that her older sister had been to a very great struggle with their parents for some time to be able to wear the hijab, and finally they did give in. Masha'Allah. Often you have to struggle against society for wanting to follow the way given to us by Allah, SWT but also against Muslim parents.
So surely we can never know how things will turn out - it is all up to Allah, SWT.
Wasalam your sister
