Let's Get Back To Islam - NaSra - 08-24-2004 By: Masood Lets get back to Islam, before the sun goes down, We never know when we'll be under the mound. "I'll pray when I get older," That's what they say, But we might not have even one more day! Lets get back to Islam, before its too late, "Aw man, can't I just delay it for another date?" Times running out, our lives are almost done, "But brother, I'm too busy having fun." Lets get back to Islam, Jahannam aint funny, "Come on man, I'm to busy making money!" The Quran sits on our shelves and there it picks up dust, The longer we stay away from it, the more our hearts pick up rust. Lets get back to Islam, before our lives our gone, "Not right now, I'm too busy, can't you see I have the TV on!" There's no time to waste, lets start it now, come on, for Allah can't you even bow? Lets get back to Islam, this aint just a song, "But brother, a few minutes in prayer, that's too long!" "I'll go on hajj when I'm around fifty-five," Come on man, by then will you even be alive? Lets get back to Islam, lets not waist another day, "Aw Masood, leave me alone, I just wanna play." Lets turn back to Allah before we turn to dust, There's no delaying, bro this is a must! Lets get back to Islam, for reals, not just with our lips, Oh Allah make us sincere, so we don't feel Jahannam's whips. "I think I'll get pious when my hair turns gray." Come on man, don't wait, we may die any day. Lets get back to Islam, this aint just another rap, Its a race to Jennah, and Islam's the only map. Once upon a time there were three brothers and sisters. Their names were Ibrahim, Yunus and Sarah. Ibrahim and Yunus were twins and big brothers to little Sarah. One day their father called for them and gave them each a little bag of sweets. Then he said to them that if they could accomplish a task they would get more sweets. The task was to eat the sweets without anyone looking. The children gladly took their bags of sweets. The boys did at once begin to look for a safe place there they could eat their sweets without anyone seeing them. Ibrahim did hide in a hollow tree trunk, that was his secret hidingplace. He quickly ate his sweets and went back to his father, to get more sweets, since he was convinced that no one had seen him. Yunus did hide under his bed, and also he was sure that he had found a place where no one had seen him eat his sweets. But Sarah stayed with her father. She did not eat of her sweets, but did sit still and looked thoughtful. When the twins returned their father asked where they had eaten their sweets, and if someone had seen them. The boys were very sure of that no one had seen them in their hidingplaces. Then the father asked Sarah why she had not gone away to eat her sweets. 'But father, there is no place where no one cannot see me. Allah is able to watch me wherever I am! That is why I could not go an eat the sweets that you gave me, and I cannot accomplish the task you gave me.' 'Little Sarah, you have surely deserved a big reward!' the father said with tears in his eyes. A man came to his friend and asked if he could lend him money, and the friend wanted to know what he was planning to do with it. The man explained that he had a debt to another friend that needed to get his money back. Then his friend immediatly gave him the money and he hurried to go and pay his debt. But when the man had left the friend started to cry. His wife came and said that he should not have lend the man the money if he now did have regrets about it. Then the man said: 'That is not why I am upset. I am crying because my friend had little money, and that I have not understood it. He was forced to lend money from someone else. And now he was forced to ask me of a loan, I should have asked him if he had enough money! Oh, what a bad friend I have been!. One night she did wake up och felt so sick so she had to call for Sharafud-Din and ask him to fetch some water for her. Young Sharafud-Din hurried to help his mother but when he returned to her he saw that she had fallen asleep again. Sharafud-Din didn't know what to do. Should he wake her up or should he wait until she woke up again? Or should he leave the glass of water beside her bed? He decided to wait until she did wake up again. Miniutes passed. Hours passed. Let's Get Back To Islam - umm Zachariah - 09-27-2004 STORIES FOR OUR SMALL CHILDREN THE STOLEN SHIRT Yunus had just started his night prayer when he heard someone come inside the house. It was a thief that had broken in and was looking for something valuable. Yunus did not want to interrupt his prayer, and thought that maybe the thief was poor and in a great need of food or something else, and that is was better to let him take something. But also Yunus was poor, and the thief did not find anything else than a shirt that he took with him when he left the house. Yunus thought that surely the thief needed the shirt and he did not tell anyone what had happened. A few days later Yunus visited the market, and saw two men that was quarreling with one another. He asked what they were arguing about, since he wanted to mediate. The first one said that he wanted to by the shirt, but wanted to be sure that it was not stolen and he wanted to have someone to witness to that the shirt really belonged to the man that he was arguing with. But he in his return refused to do so. Yunus did recognize his own shirt. What a coincidence! But he decided to keep silent about it, and offered to witness that the shirt belonged to the man, and he then offered to by the shirt himself. When the other man heard this he bought the shirt without asking anything more. It didn't take the thief a long time to realize how it all hung together, and he also remembered that Yunus did not have anything valuable in his house. This man that did not own much had by now also witnessed that the shirt was his. His conscience began to haunt him and he did regret what he had done. He ran the whole way to the house of Yunus and admitted what he had done och so he became a Muslim. The patience that Yunus did show towards this man had made him return to the Sirat al Mustaqim. Let's Get Back To Islam - umm Zachariah - 09-29-2004 Miss Moppy is a wise little five year old, who meets life head on! Moppy stretched her arms up high. She wanted to see if she could reach the top of the bookshelf. With her eyes closed and standing on her tippy toes, she said, "Bismillah!" in a little voice. She stretched and reached until - she did it! One of her chubby, little fingers touched the coloring book on the top shelf. With a look of happiness she bounded out the door and headed towards the kitchen. She felt at least three inches taller that day. "Come on and drink your juice," said Mum in a kindly voice. Moppy sat down on the kitchen stool with its green colored seat and watched the orange pulp float around. She wrinkled her nose and then closed her eyes, took a deep breath and downed the whole cup. "Hey Missy, you're supposed to drink in three goes! Remember!" "Oh yeah, next time Inshaa Allah." She put the cup on the sink, then sat down on the stool to watch her mother. "Mum, when will I grow up?" "You're growing up all the time." "Really?" "Yes." "What do I have to do to grow up, Mum?" Her mother stopped stirring the porridge for a minute and said, "You have to eat your dinner and go to sleep early and bit by bit, Inshaa Allah, you'll grow." "Do I have to eat the green stuff?" "Vegetables are really good for you and they don't taste so bad." "I don't like them." "You don't have to like them, you just have to eat them. Right!" Moppy watched every move her mother made. Her eyes followed her from the stove to the fridge to the sink and back to the stove again. Unconsciously, her little hands copied all her movements. "I want to be big now. I want to be like you." "You are big, much bigger than when you were little and you don't have to be like me, you just have to be your nice little self," said her mother as she poured the porridge into little yellow bowls. "What do you do when you're big?" she asked as she swung her feet to and fro. "We have to try to be good all the time and help each other. And.." mother paused for a moment, "we have to learn how not to hurt others' feelings." Moppy looked up at her seriously. "Like what?" "Like, saying things that people like but saying the truth at the same time." Some porridge dripped onto the table and Moppy wiped it up with her finger. "I'm hungry Mum. Can we eat now?" "Breakfast is nearly ready Sweetie." "I try to be good and I help, don't I?" asked Moppy as she carried the spoons to the table. "Yes, you do! You're my number one helping girl." "So I'm big, aren't I?" "I guess you are," replied her mother as she stopped her work and looked lovingly down at her curly haired little girl. "You know what?" "What?" "You're five years old today, Mashaa Allah." "Am I?" asked Moppy with wide-open eyes that shone with happiness. She held up five fingers and smiled broadly. "Some of the kids at school make parties when they have a birthday." "I know." "Are you going to make a party for me?" Mother looked at Moppy again and smiled. "Allah gave you life, five years ago. If He didn't make you, you, my dear would not be here! What more can we want than to be alive and have each other? Isn't it better to do something good for someone else, instead of wanting more for yourself. You already have everything you need Mashaa Allah." "Ok then, what are we going to do today?" "We're going to visit Auntie Asma and the kids." "Oh goodie. Does Auntie know I'm five today?" "No, but we can tell her Inshaa Allah." Moppy was so happy, she got up and danced and twirled up the hallway to her bedroom, where she put on her favorite dress and combed her hair. She looked neat, clean and ready to go out. "See! I got ready by myself Mum. I'm big now, right?" "Mashaa Allah, you did a good job! Let's have breakfast first and then we'll be off, Inshaa Allah." Moppy went to the bathroom and washed her hands, then they ate breakfast together. After they cleared the table, mother got ready too. She put on her coat and her long scarf and off they went. After a short time they arrived at the house of their favorite Auntie. Moppy bounded up the stairs and knocked on the door. "Who is it?" asked a friendly voice. "Assalam Alaikum. Mum and I have come to visit you." The door opened. "Wa Alaikum Assalam," and Moppy was swept up in the arms of Auntie Asma who twirled her around the room then set her down on the floor. "How's my girl today?" "I'm five," she replied smiling. "Mashaa Allah, you're really getting big now." "I know." "So what are you going to do today?" asked Auntie. "I'm visiting you," replied Moppy with a big grin. "If I'd known you were coming I would have got all dressed up." Auntie Asma was laughing. She disappeared into her room and fuzzed out her hair, then stuck a colorful comb right on the top. "Close your eyes Moppy." "Open!" Moppy started a little when she looked at Auntie's hair and the broad cheesy grin that was displayed under it. "Well, how do you like my hair? Come on tell me the truth." Her mother's words still rung in her ears. 'Tell the truth but don't hurt others.' Moppy stared seriously at her Auntie then looked her up and down. "Well, come on, you like it huh?" What could she say, Auntie looked really yucky like that! "Well, Auntie," she began, taking a deep breath and closing her eyes for a moment, "I think you have a lovely dress." |
