STORIES FOR OUR SMALL CHILDREN
SARAH'S SWEETS.
Once upon a time there were three brothers and sisters. Their names were Ibrahim, Yunus and Sarah. Ibrahim and Yunus were twins and big brothers to little Sarah.
One day their father called for them and gave them each a little bag of sweets. Then he said to them that if they could accomplish a task they would get more sweets. The task was to eat the sweets without anyone looking. The children gladly took their bags of sweets. The boys did at once begin to look for a safe place there they could eat their sweets without anyone seeing them.
Ibrahim did hide in a hollow tree trunk, that was his secret hidingplace. He quickly ate his sweets and went back to his father, to get more sweets, since he was convinced that no one had seen him. Yunus did hide under his bed, and also he was sure that he had found a place where no one had seen him eat his sweets. But Sarah stayed with her father. She did not eat of her sweets, but did sit still and looked thoughtful.
When the twins returned their father asked where they had eaten their sweets, and if someone had seen them. The boys were very sure of that no one had seen them in their hidingplaces. Then the father asked Sarah why she had not gone away to eat her sweets.
'But father, there is no place where no one cannot see me. Allah is able to watch me wherever I am! That is why I could not go an eat the sweets that you gave me, and I cannot accomplish the task you gave me.'
'Little Sarah, you have surely deserved a big reward!' the father said with tears in his eyes.
