Is birthcontrol halaal in islam?
#31

Hi JD :wavey:

Quote:FHC, your view (or more accurately your church's view) on relationships and sex do not reflect the real world.

Please define the "Real World" for me. Are you referring to the world that rejects God & makes anything permissible?

Quote:As for JP2 ramblings, I hardly think that a celibate old man indoctrinated into sexual suppression is in any position to be giving out advice on relationships.

That's cool! I respect your opinion, Sir. If JP2's Theology of the Body couldn't hit a chord with you then it's highly unlikely that you'll learn from a 24 year old woman whose not living in the "Real World". What do we virgins know, right?

Quote:I just love the way the church covers its behind by putting priorities on things. :D

My mother does no such thing! She remains faithful to her Bridegroom & the Natural Moral Law. The Church’s teachings reflect the mystery of sex the way God originally designed it.

The USA alone has spent 4 trillion dollars trying to clean up the mess that has resulted from the sexual revolution. Do you know how much chastity costs? Nothing! Our culture is immersed in impurity like we have never known since the dawn of Christianity.

Gilbert Keith Chesterton once said, “We Westerners do not know what we are doing anymore because we do not know what we are undoing.” Nobody back in the 50’s would have guessed it would get this bad so fast. You have to wonder, what it is going to be like 50 years from now?

Hello John :wavey:

Quote:No, the real world is what actually happens compared to the fantasy world that you dream of.

What you consider fantasy is in actual fact my everyday reality. I'm living it!

Aim high in life! Don't be complacent.

Quote:JP2's ramblings are an irrelevance to me at least. If you see some value in it, you go girl.

Now you're singing a totally different tune! Yesterday you said JP2 was unfit to offer relationship advice. But thanks, I guess!

Quote:I see, this would be the same insitutions that had adulterers, fornicators etc stoned to death. The silly superstions that had "witches" burned at the stake ? Oh yes, they are totally grounded in antural and moral law alright.

I think we need to distinguish between Christ's spotless Bride (a Divine Institution) & her human children (who commit sin). While we're at it, let's make the distinction between Church & State too, even though State was controlled by Catholics in the past (start a new thread if you'd like to discuss this subject further - I have a lot to share).

The Church's teachings on faith & morals are flawless. If we commit wrongdoing in the name of God, we're taking the Lord's name in vain & that's a breach of the 2nd Commandment.

Quote:What I am saying is that "your" church is talking out of ignorance.

What makes you say that? Because bishops choose a celibate life for the sake of the Kingdom?

We don't need to smoke or take drugs to understand they're bad for our health.

The Church is the pillar of truth. She doesn't lower her standards to suit the real world nor will she conform to non-biblical ways.

Quote:Do you have a source for that ?

Christopher West - 'Naked Without Shame' or 'Battle for Sexual Purity' (I can't quite remember which one).

Quote:And where do the millions of people who have died at the hands of christian zealots stand in your scale of impurity ?

God bless their souls.

They don't stand far from the millions of aborted babies who have died at the hands of Godless enthusiasts. *Please forgive me Father*

Only God can judge.

Quote:The christian crusaders who pillaged and raped their way across the globe, were they pious, pure people ?

No, I don't think they were (may they rest in peace). Majority of them were excommunicated.

Quote:Your church tells couples where one person is infected with aids not to use condoms thus putting the other partner at risk.

"With no vaccine in sight and lacking the moral courage to embrace chastity, contemporary society, by marketing the condom as the solution to the HIV/AIDS pandemic, has put all its eggs in a condom basket. Yet the very experts who promote the condom as a strategic weapon against HIV/AIDS are silent in regard to its failure as a contraceptive" (NACF)

Fact or Fiction:

"Botswana has one of the worst HIV rates in the world, with around 37 per cent of adults infected. It also has one of the highest rates of condom availability. Less than 5 per cent of the population is Catholic.

Uganda, in contrast, has one of the lowest HIV rates in Africa, with around 4 per cent of adults infected. It has a relatively low rate of condom availability. The population is also one-third Catholic."

My mother in law was in a confession booth after she had my husband, she tells the priest her sins and adds "I use birthcontrol". He asked her why.... she said that her and husband cannot afford to have another child, they were struggling and it's not fair to the kids. The priest said she had no faith that God will provide, and if she does not stop using birth control, she has NO absolution. (meaning, the priest won't forgive her, so that means God won't forgiver her, so she's going to hell for using birthcontrol).

:subhanallah: I won't have that problem.

Peace be with you, JD :peace:

Quote:Well bully for you.

Comon, don't be like that. All I'm saying is that anything's possible in the real world.

Quote:He still is/was.

You'd be surprised, man. JP2's 'Theology of the Body' is a time bomb ready to explode any minute now.

Quote:It's not something I have to worry about too much other than my taxes having to help support those kids that have been born to people who cannot afford to support their own kids. Puts me in mind of Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life" song, "every sperm is sacred".

I feel the same way about paying taxes to a government that funds abortion. My friends & I are currently figuring out how to present this case in court (seriously).

Okie dokie! Let's just agree to disagree about the whole thing!

Peace be with you Shaunee :peace:

A priest cannot absolve you from your sins unless you make an 'Act of Sorrow' whereby you promise God that with the help of His grace, you'll try not to commit the same sin again. If your mother-in-law confessed that she's on artificial birth control & has no intention to give it up, then that's 'Imperfect Contrition.' It'll be like a murderer confessing he has just killed someone, & in the back of his mind knowing he's going to commit another murder tomorrow. The purpose of the Sacrament of Reconciliation is to build the relationship between the penitent & God through a conversion of heart. It's not a pep talk that aims to remove guilt & make sinners feel better. I hope the priest offered more advice & suggested natural alternatives.

Take this scenario: A woman refuses to go off the pill because she can't afford to feed/clothe/shelter another child (not being able to buy him/her a Play Station doesn't count as financial trouble). So let's say the pill failed & the woman fell pregnant. She can't bear giving birth to the child & putting him/her up for adoption. What's her only other option? Abortion! God forbid.

You see how sin breeds sin :o

Quote:I haven't read it nor am I likely to. In fact, the vast majority of humanity is unlikely to read it.

I agree. How on earth could anyone talk about sex..... when they are a senior citizen who's never had it? :conf06:
