The History Of Kabah
Posted by: Suhail - 11-29-2009, 03:28 AM - Forum: General - Replies (1)

The History Of Kabah

“Indeed the first house designated for man (as a direction to worship Allah) was the one at Bakkah which is blessed and a guidance for the universe.” (Al Imran, Verse 96)

As a Muslim there is no need to elaborate on the importance and the sacredness of “Al Kabah”. A house so blessed that merely gazing at its 4 walls earns one 20 blessings, and so revered that an identical house parallel to it exists in the very heavens.

The Prophet (SAW) said about his ascension to the seventh heaven that I was taken to “Al Bait Ul ma‟moor” it is visited everyday by seventy thousand angels who will not come back to visit it again” (Bukhari/Muslim)

Not only is the house it self sacred but that very plot is the origin of land on earth

Ka‟ab Ah‟bar states, “There were foams and bubbles on water before the formation of land, at the place where there is „Baitullah‟ today. The land was spread from here.” (Ibn Katheer)

Though Prophet Ibrahim (AS) is known as the founder and craftsman of the Kabah, the sacred house existed well before the advent of mankind, erected by the angels and was then reconstructed by none other than Hazrat Adam (AS). Allah raised his beloved house at the time of Nuh‟s (AS) Deluge and nothing but the Heavenly inspired foundations remained, cloaked by the sands of time before Allah ordered Ibrahim (AS) and his son Ismaeel (AS) to raise the Kabah on those very foundations.

It was this very structure which was preserved throughout the centuries by the Amaaliqa, Jurhum and early Qurashi tribes who had become the inhabitants of the desolate desert in the vicinity of the Kabah.

It was only 18 years prior to the Hijrah when the leaders of the Quraish found a need to entirely reconstruct the sacred house. The new design had to address the prevailing security issues (treasures had been stolen from inside the Kabah), and structural issues (Rain and flood water would accumulate in and around the Kabah causing serious wall damage) and when all things considered according to historians the sacred house had been standing for over 3000 years.

The Quraish began by raising funds for the proposal.

It was universally agreed that only pure and lawful money would be used for the construction. This is how Allah ensured that his beloved house would only be erected through pure means.

When the time finally came to demolish the existing structure, their hearts betrayed them and they stood transfixed. Who would have the nerve to tear down their most beloved and sacred monument.

Finally Waleed bin Mugairah stepped forward saying “O Allah, we have nothing but good intentions” and began the process. The Quraish watched in awe and total fear. They decided to see whether Waleed would be struck down by some heavenly calamity. When Waleed returned the next morning safe and sound there doubts were swept away and they collectively joined in the work.

The new Kabah was distinctively dissimilar to the Kabah of the Prophet Ibrahim (AS). Firstly the walls of the Kabah were raised twofold, a roof was included, the second door on the western side was sealed off and the eastern door was raised in order to allow the Quraish to control access into the Kabah. And the most important change was due to a lack of funds an area of 3 meters could not be included in the construction and was marked out by a low semi-circular wall known to us as the Hateem.

Abdullah Ibn Zubayr (RA) said, "I heard Aisha (RA) say, The Prophet (SAW) said: "If your people had not quite recently abandoned the Ignorance (Unbelief), and if I had sufficient provisions to rebuild it [the Kabah], I would have added five cubits to it from the Hijr (Hateem). Also, I would make two doors; one for people to enter therein and the other to exit." (Bukhari).

In 64 Hijri Ibn Zubayr decided to construct the Kabah the way Prophet Muhammad (SAW) wanted it, on the foundation and model of the Prophet Ibrahim (AS). Ibn Zubayr said, "Today, I can afford to do so and I do not fear the people. Ibn Zubayr built the Kabah on Prophet Ibrahim's (AS) foundation and therefore the Hateem area was included. He also included two doors, one facing the east the other facing the west, both at ground level allowing through access.

During the reign of Abdul Malik bin Marwan, Al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf al-Thaqafi, besieged Makkah and ultimately martyred Ibn Zubayr. Then with the Caliph‟s approval demolished what Ibn Zubayr had added to it from the older foundation of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), and restored its old structure as the Quraish had built it.

It was only whilst on Umra when the Caliph heard the Hadeeth of Aisha (RA) that he deeply regretted his actions.

Caliph Harun al Rasheed wanted to rebuild the Kabah the way Prophet Muhammad (SAW) wanted and the way Abdullah Ibn Zubayr built it. But when he consulted Imam Malik, the Imam implored the Caliph to reconsider in order that the Kabah does not become a plaything for the future leaders (each one constructing it to his own preference).

The Caliph agreed and though the Kabah has been reconstructed twice since, the Kabah designed by the Quraish has remained and will remain so through divine protection on this earth as long as there are those to face it.

every one

i m trying to write something moralful since a long time and in result now i have written this small story.....please correct me if there is any mistake

this is the story:

" There is an examination hall where people are allowed to cheat!!!!!!!!!!!

This examination hall has alots of people in it.There are alots of teachers in the hall to help the pupils appearing for the exam. The guard of this room allows people to cheat! infact he asks them to do so!

The teachers are always in search of people who are in need of help to fill the exam paper. When a pupil asks a teacher for help ,he opens the book and tells the pupil to copy all the answers from the book! and when a pupil coppies everything from the book the guard increases his marks to double instead of decreasing them!!!!

Do you wanna know where this examination hall is and who are the people, teachers and guard present in it...This examination hall is this world ,the teachers are the ulama, scholars and preachers, the guard is Allah himself who always guides us to the right path, the book is "Al-Qur'an" which Allah has sent upon Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad(SAW) to guide us through the darkness of evil into the light of truth and to help us write our "Book Of Life" which oneday we have to represent infront of Allah,The lord of the universe and he will judge us with what we would have written in this book

so what you think about the people who still refuse to believe even when the Book is open in infron of them....are'nt they silly...should their punishment not be what Allah has decided for them..."

i hope this story was a succes INSHALLAH

Virtues of the Day of Arafaah
Posted by: Muslimah - 11-25-2009, 06:04 PM - Forum: Haj, Umrah, Eid ul Adha - Replies (3)

What are the Virtues of the Day of Arafaah ?

Praise be to Allaah.

1. It is the day on which the religion was perfected and Allaah’s Favour was completed.

In Al-Saheehayn it was reported from ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him) that a Jewish man said to him, “O Ameer al-Mu’mineen, there is an aayah in your Book which you recite; if it had come to us Jews, we would have taken that day as an ‘Eid (festival).” ‘Umar said, “Which aayah?” He said: “This day I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.” [al-Maa’idah 5:3 – interpretation of the meaning]. ‘Umar said, “We know on which day and in which place that was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). It was when he was standing in ‘Arafaah on a Friday.”

2. It is a day of Eid for the people who are in that place.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Yawm ‘Arafaah (the day of ‘Arafaah), Yawm al-Nahr (the Day of Sacrifice) and Ayyaam al-Tashreeq (the 3 days following Yawm al-Nahr) are Eid (festival) for us, the people of Islam. These are days of eating and drinking.” This was narrated by the authors of al-Sunan. It was reported that ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab said: “It – i.e., the aayah ‘This day I have perfected…’ was revealed on a Friday, the Day of ‘Arafaah, both of which – praise be to Allaah – are Eids for us.”

3. It is a day by which Allaah swore an oath.

The Almighty cannot swear by anything except that which is mighty. Yawm ‘Arafaah is the “witnessed day” mentioned in the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):

“By the witnessing day [Friday] and by the witnessed day [the Day of ‘Arafaah].” [al-Burooj 85:3].

It was reported from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The promised day is the Day of Resurrection, the witnessed day is the Day of ‘Arafaah, and the witnessing day is Friday.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi and classed as saheeh by al-Albaani.

It is the “odd” [i.e., odd-numbered, Witr] by which Allaah swore in the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):

“And by the even and the odd” [al-Fajr 89:3]. Ibn ‘Abbaas said: “The even is the Day of al-Adhaa [i.e., 10th Dhoo’l-Hijjah] and the odd is the Day of ‘Arafaah [i.e., 9th Dhoo’l-Hijjah] This is also the view of ‘Ikrimah and al-Dahhaak.

4. Fasting on this day is an expiation for two years.

It was reported from Abu Qutaadah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked about fasting on the Day of ‘Arafaah. He said, “It expiates for the sins of the previous year and of the coming year.” Narrated by Muslim.

This (fasting) is mustahabb for those who are not on Hajj. In the case of the one who is on Hajj, it is not Sunnah for him to fast on the Day of ‘Arafaah, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not fast on this day in ‘Arafaah. It was narrated that he forbade fasting on the Day of ‘Arafaah in ‘Arafaah.

5. It is the day on which Allaah took the covenant from the progeny of Adam.

It was reported that Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah took the covenant from the loins of Adam in Na’maan, i.e., ‘Arafaah. He brought forth from his loins all his offspring and spread them before Him, then He addressed them, and said: ‘Am I not your Lord? They said, ‘Yes, we testify,’ let you should say on the Day of Resurrection: ‘Verily, we have been unaware of this.’ Or lest you should say: ‘It was only our fathers aforetime who took others as partners in worship along with Allaah, and we were (merely their) descendents after them; will You then destroy us because of the deeds of men who practised Al-Baatil (i.e., ploytheism and committing crimes and sins, invoking and worshipping others besides Allaah)?’ [al-A’raaf 7:172-173 – interpretation of the meaning].” Narrated by Ahmad and classed as saheeh by al-Albaani. And there is no greater day than this and no greater covenant than this.

6. It is the day of forgiveness of sins, freedom from the Fire and pride in the people who are there:

In Saheeh Muslim it was narrated from ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There is no day on which Allaah frees more people from the Fire than the Day of ‘Arafaah. He comes close and expresses His pride to the angels, saying, ‘What do these people want?’”

It was reported from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah expresses His pride to His angels at the time of ‘Ishaa’ on the Day of ‘Arafaah, about the people of ‘Arafaah. He says, ‘Look at My slaves who have come unkempt and dusty.’” Narrated by Ahmad and classed as saheeh by al-Albaani.

And Allaah knows best.

 how is salaat perform

Salaam brother and sister

I have a very important question with regards to how I perform my pray , recently I pray in a congregational pray of maghrib.

the brother who lead the pray , prayed In the first Raka Sura An-Nasr and in the second I read sura Al-Kawthar,

I was under the impression that you have to pray the surah as per Quran order in other words sura Al-kawthar comes first so this should have been pray first follow by surah An-Nasr.

He states that

The prophet (pbuh) made the first Rak'ah longer and the second Rak'ak shorter. If one does not do this then it becomes Makruh Tahrimi (deemed forbidden). Therefore it becomes wajib to do this.

and is quoting this from Hadith Abu-Dawud, Kitab Al-salah

can you please confirm on this so that I know where I am standing please do quote which Hadith you are referencing to page number verse would be much useful.

may Allah reward you for your effort.

32 fans hurt after Egypt-Algeria clash

Cairo - Thirty-two people, including 20 Algerians, were injured in clashes in and around Cairo after a crunch World Cup football qualifier between Egypt and Algeria, the interior ministry said on Sunday.

Ministry spokesman Abderrahman Shahin, quoted by Egypt's state news agency MENA, said 12 Egyptians and 20 Algerians were injured in central Cairo and in Giza, near the capital, on Saturday night.

Twenty-nine of them have been discharged while the three others are in "stable condition," said Shahin.

On Saturday, an official with the security services said that three Algerian supporters were lightly injured on leaving the stadium in Nasr City, a suburb of Cairo.

Trouble flared after the game when a group of Egyptian fans stoned buses ferrying Algerian fans away from the stadium, an AFP journalist said. Three Algerian players were injured when stones were also hurled at their bus.

Cairo newspapers earlier feted Egypt's home team and their supporters after the Pharoahs beat Algeria's Desert Foxes, keeping alive their hopes of qualification for next year's World Cup finals in South Africa. - Sapa-AFP

Dr. Zakir Naik on Muhammad In The Bible

Found this video in a series about Dr. Zakir Naik's appearance on The Deen Show where he discusses the Islamic objection to the trinity, the deity of Jesus Christ, and the Bible foretelling the coming of Muhammad. In the third video, a rebuttal is offered to Muhammad being found in the Bible. I thought it would be an interesting watch for this forum.

MAS Freedom Strongly Condemns Execution of Chinese Muslims in Xinjiang, China
Posted by: Muslimah - 11-11-2009, 10:15 AM - Forum: Current Affairs - No Replies

President Obama Urged to Support Chinese Muslim Human Rights

WASHINGTON, DC (MASNET) November 10, 2009 - MAS Freedom (MASF) as the civic and human rights advocacy entity of the Muslim American Society (MAS), strongly condemns the government of the People's Republic of China for carrying out the brutal execution of eight Chinese Uighur Muslims, and one Han, in the aftermath of the ethnic disturbances in western China on July 5, 2009. The July clashes, which took place inside a toy factory in Guangdong Province, led to the deaths of two Uighurs and a massive crackdown on the community by Chinese police and armed forces.

Chinese authorities, on announcing the executions, did not specify when or where they actually took place, saying only that they occurred 'recently'.

The executions are part of the larger, ongoing conflict between the Uighur ethnic community in Western China, which has experienced continuous violations of collective religious freedoms and human rights at the hands of the ethnic Chinese Han majority. Uighur leaders have also reported recurring instances of forced closures of mosques and religious schools, the imprisonment of activists, killings, and the forced resettlement of members of their community.

"MAS Freedom is shocked and dismayed by these killings, and by the fact that the Chinese government concealed the executions from the international press and the global human rights community. MAS Freedom and the Muslim-American community at-large, strongly condemn the continued violation of the basic religious rights of the Muslim community in China, which numbers some 20 million people," stated MAS Freedom Executive Director, Imam Mahdi Bray.

MAS Freedom Civil and Human Rights Director, Ibrahim Ramey, who previously met with Uyghur leaders exiled in the United States, stated, "The United States government, which stands on a high moral platform in condemning human rights violations around the world, should vigorously condemn the Chinese government for these executions, and for the continuous suppression of religious freedoms among the Uighur Muslim people."
