  Rules regarding the forum
Posted by: Muslimah - 05-11-2003, 03:10 PM - Forum: Islam - No Replies

As salam Alykom all members

We have noticed lately some posts that are not compatible with the main theme we desire for this forum. Members slander each other and just post replies for the sake of posting.

As an Islamic forum, we need to set some rules hoping that every one shall respect:

1. We need to post useful Islamic material.

2. Any one has an Islam related question of course is most welcome in an effort that members may provide the answer.

We need to maintain ethical language (no hard language, swearing or the like). NO SWEARING allowed This include small words even like S**T and A*S and the big hardcore Swear....Be warned you WIL BE CENSORED if anyone Will be using such words

3. No foul mouthing against moderators or admins.

4. Post that Signify and Racial of Means of provoking will be edited and warned if persistant will be banned. Flamers will be warned a few times if persistant they will be banned for about 3 days then reinstated if they APOLOGISE and promise to refrain from doing so again

5. If a member expresses a problem, if you can help go ahead, if not just wait for other contributions may be you can learn.

6. No Posting Anti Islamic websites..this is only giving popularity to such sites

7. We need to maintain a brotherly relation after all we are all Muslims. And even for our non Muslim members, we are still commanded by Quran to maintain good relations with them. So defuse this feeling among us all.

8. We encourage you to look for useful topics and post them, in case topics are taken from another site, please include the source for property rights.

9. Exellent topics shall be moved to the home page of islamsms.com.

10. Based on the above mentioned, the forum team retains the right to delete/ edit any topic that if found not compatible with our rules. Mainly of course topics which may touch, slander or abuse Allah, Quran or our beloved Prophet Mohamed (PAPBUH).

11. Violations of the rules or regulations will be met with 1 or 2 warnings. After this time, you will be banned for a set period (3-9 days maybe). Constant abusers will face permanent bans. If things are said in the heat of the moment, the comments will be edited out but this doesn't constitute a warning.

12. The forum team would like not to be held accountable before Allah for whatever material may be posted here which bears any wrong info. After all we are humans and may miss or falter. May Allah assist, support and guide us to maintain this forum in the best we could in the eyes of Allah.

We are here to learn, help each other, share useful knowledge and Insh a Allah gain reward

  Democratic Iraq

It is obvious to me that Iraq will become a democratic state, and not an Islamic republic, that's the future whether you like it or not, but I want your thoughts on a democratic Iraq.

Assalamu alaekum,

I Thank Allah for you and others on this team for the great job you are doing on the net. Please keep it up.

Meanwhile, I got a news yesterday night that a brother of mine who happened to be active in my local da'awah work is critically ill. He has kidney failure [or what was it they called it]. He has undergone five dialysis without positive changes.

The news I got yesterday is that he needs a transplant. I've been seriously worried ever since, knowing fully well that he has no means to foot the bill that will be associated with.

I just hope brothers and sisters on the forum will kindly pray seriously for him. Any suggestion that might assist will surely be welcomed.

I just have to share the news with someone, i am disturbed for the brother.

Allahumma inni magluubun fantasir.

Ma'a salam.

  what are a woman's options?
Posted by: Ali - 05-01-2003, 07:44 AM - Forum: Woman and family - Replies (2)

In all age groups, mortality rate is higher for men than for women.

Thus, there will always exist in monogamous societies husband less women. Society presents such women with limited choices. A husband-less woman has to choose one of the following.

Suppress her sexuality, sublimate and join the convent, or be a

spinster for life.

Flaunt her sexuality for material benefits, and be single for life.

Grab another woman's man and remain another woman for life

Grab another woman's man, and push her into the pool of husband less women.

Of course, she can change her mind any time. That is her prerogative!

But those are the options she has, or does she?

Islam has the solution, but one must set aside one's prejudices first. Right!

Islam permits polygyny to rectify the ills of the society.

[b:44ac3ade0c]It does not require that all men must have multiple wives. [/b:44ac3ade0c]Polygyny is permitted with certain conditions.

In India 82 girls are born to every 100 men. There is, statistically, less than a woman for every man. Polygamy will only exacerbate the problem.

On an individual basis, Polygamy can still not be outlawed.

But to insist that every man take up four wives would leave over sixty percent of the men without any prospects of marriage. Such a situation is fraught with grave danger.

Polygamy is allowed. To not do so would be to rob the society of a solution when women outnumber men.

However, when women do not outnumber men, or outnumber them marginally, encouraging men to take on more wives exacerbates the problem.

Islam solves problems, not creates them.

To suggest that polygamy is a must for Muslim men is a mockery.

Ahadith and Sunnah permit polygamy, not mandate it.

Allah had allowed certain practices for the prophet, which other believers were forbidden; certain deeds were obligatory for him, and only voluntary for other Muslims. Examples:

And prior to dawn, perform the tahajjud (non-obligatory) prayer at night. Your Lord may elevate you to the most exalted status (in heaven). 17:79

This (more than four wives) is an exemption especially for you, not for any other believer. We know what We have mandated for the believers concerning their wives, and the captive women. You are exempted so as to remove the difficulty you face! 33:50

Acting on any one hadith without regard to all the rest of them is fraught with difficulties.

For the first twenty five years of his married life, the prophet was

strictly monogamous. Does that mean all Muslims must be forced to lead a monogamous life for twenty-five years before being allowed to have two wives.

The notion that polygamy is absolutely required of a Muslim because the prophet practiced it is also a similarly flawed argument.
