i thought i would post this up to show how dumb americans r .. no offence 2 our american members....
RUNNER-UP #9
Yankton, South Dakota: A woman was arrested at her step son's Boy Scout meeting. While watching a policeman demonstrate his drug dog's ability, the dog found a bag of grass in her purse.
RUNNER-UP #8
Colorado Springs: A guy walked into a little corner store with a shotgun and demanded all the cash from the cash drawer. After the cashier put the cash in a bag, the robber saw a bottle of scotch that he wanted behind the counter on the shelf. He told the cashier to put it in the bag as well, but he refused and said "Because I don't believe you are over 21." The robber said he was, but the clerk still refused to give it to him because he didn't believe him. At this point the robber took his drivers license out of his wallet and gave it to the clerk. The clerk looked it over, and agreed that the man was in fact over 21 and he put the scotch in the bag. The robber then ran from the store with his loot. The cashier promptly called the police and gave the name and address of the robber that he got off the license. They arrested the robber two hours later.
RUNNER-UP #7
A woman was reporting her car as stolen, and mentioned that there was a car phone in it. The policeman taking the report called the phone and told the guy that answered that he had read the ad in the newspaper and wanted to buy the car. They arranged to meet, and the thief was arrested.
RUNNER-UP #6
San Francisco: A man, wanting to rob a downtown Bank of America, walked into the branch and wrote "this iz a stikkup. Put all your muny in this bag." While standing in line, waiting to give his note to the teller, he began to worry that someone had seen him write the note and might call the police before he reached the teller window. So he left the Bank of America and crossed the street to Wells Fargo. After waiting a few minutes in line, he handed his note to the Wells Fargo teller. She read it and, surmising from his spelling errors that he was not the brightest light in the harbor, told him that she could not accept his stickup note because it was written on a Bank of America deposit slip and that he would either have to fill out a Wells Fargo deposit slip or go back to Bank of America. Looking somewhat defeated, the man said "OK" and left. The Wells Fargo teller then called the police who arrested the man a few minutes later, as he was waiting in line back at Bank of America.
RUNNER-UP #5
From England: A motorist was unknowingly caught in an automated speed trap that measured his speed using radar and photographed his car. He later received in the mail a ticket for 40 Pounds and a photo of his car. Instead of payment, he sent the police department a photograph of 40 Pounds. Several days later, he received a letter from the police that contained another picture...of handcuffs. The motorist promptly sent the money for the fine.
RUNNER-UP #4
Drug Possession Defendant Christopher Jansen, on trial in March in Pontiac, Michigan, said he had been searched without a warrant. The prosecutor said the officer didn't need a warrant because a "bulge" in Christopher's jacket could have been a gun. "Nonsense," said Christopher, who happened to be wearing the same jacket that day in court. He handed it over so the judge could see it. The judge discovered a packet of cocaine in the pocket and laughed so hard he required a five minute recess to compose himself.
RUNNER-UP #3
Oklahoma City: Dennis Newton was on trial for the armed robbery of a convenience store in district court when he fired his lawyer. Assistant district attorney Larry Jones said Newton, 47, was doing a fair job of defending himself until the store manager testified that Newton was the robber. Newton jumped up, accused the woman of lying and then said, "I should of blown your (expletive) head off." The defendant paused, then quickly added, "If I'd been the one that was there." The jury took 20 minutes to convict Newton and recommended a 30-year sentence.
RUNNER-UP #2
Detroit: R.C. Gaitlan, 21, walked up to two patrol officers who were showing their squad car computer felon-location equipment to children in a Detroit neighborhood. When he asked how the system worked, the officer asked him for identification. Gaitlan gave them his drivers license, they entered it into the computer, and moments later they arrested Gaitlan because information on the screen showed Gaitlan was wanted for a two-year-old armed robbery in St. Louis, Missouri.
RUNNER-UP #1
Another from Detroit: A pair of Michigan robbers entered a record shop nervously waving revolvers. The first one shouted, "Nobody move!" When his partner moved, the startled first bandit shot him.
THE WINNER!
A Charlotte, NC, man having purchased a case of very rare, very expensive cigars, insured them against fire among other things. Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpile of cigars and without having made even his first premium payment on the policy, the man filed a claim against the insurance company. In his claim, the man stated the cigars were lost "in a series of small fires." The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason that the man had consumed the cigars in the normal fashion. The man sued....and won. In delivering the ruling the judge agreeing that the claim was frivolous, stated nevertheless that the man held a policy from the company in which it had warranted that the cigars were insurable and also guaranteed that it would insure against fire, without defining what it considered to be "unacceptable fire," and was obligated to pay the claim. Rather than endure a lengthy and costly appeal process the insurance company accepted the ruling and paid the man $15,000 for the rare cigars he lost in "the fires." After the man cashed the check, however, the company had him arrested on 24 counts of arson. With his own insurance claim and testimony from the previous case being used against him, the man was convicted of intentionally burning his insured property and sentenced to 24 months in jail and a $24,000 fine.

Sha’baan is the name of the (eighth) month, and it is so called because in this month the Arabs used to disperse (tasha’’aba) in search of water, or it was said that they dispersed to carry out raids and forays. Or it was said that it is so called because it sha’aba (branches out or emerges) i.e., it appears between the months of Rajab and Ramadaan. The plural forms of the word Sha’baan are Sha’baanaat and Sha’aabeen.
Fasting in Sha’baan
‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: “The Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to fast until we thought he would never break his fast, and not fast until we thought he would never fast. I never saw the Messenger of Allaah fasting for an entire month except in Ramadaan, and I never saw him fast more than he did in Sha’baan.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 1833; Muslim, no. 1956).
According to a report narrated by Muslim (no. 1957), “He used to fast all of Sha’baan, he used to fast all but a little of Sha’baan.”
A group of scholars, including Ibn al-Mubaarak and others, thought that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not fast all of Sha’baan, but he fasted most of it. This is supported by a report in Saheeh Muslim (no. 1954) narrated from ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her), who said: “I never knew of him – meaning the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) – fasting for any entire month apart from Ramadaan.” According to another report also narrated by Muslim (no. 1955), ‘Aa’ishah said: “I never saw him fast for any entire month from the time he came to Madeenah, apart from Ramadaan.”
It was reported in al-Saheehayn that Ibn ‘Abbaas said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not fast any entire month apart from Ramadaan.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 1971, and Muslim, no. 1157). Ibn ‘Abbaas regarded it as makrooh to fast any entire month apart from Ramadaan. Ibn Hajar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “He observed more voluntary fasts in Sha’baan than in any other month, and he used to fast most of Sha’baan.”
Usaamah ibn Zayd (may Allaah be pleased with them both) said: “I said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, I do not see you fasting in any other month like you fast in Sha’baan.’ He said, ‘That is a month to which people do not pay attention, between Rajab and Ramadaan, and it is a month in which deeds are lifted up to the Lord of the Worlds. I like for my deeds to be lifted up when I am fasting.’” (Narrated by al-Nasaa’i, see Saheeh al-Targheeb wa’l-Tarheeb, page 425). According to a report narrated by Abu Dawood (no. 2076) she said: “The most beloved of months for the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to fast in was Sha’baan, and his fasting in Sha’baan was continuous with his fasting in Ramadaan.” (Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani, see Saheeh Sunan Abi Dawood, 2/461).
Ibn Rajab (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “Fasting in Sha’baan is better than fasting in the Sacred Months, and the best of voluntary fasts are those that are (observed in the months) closest to Ramadaan, before or after. The status of these fasts is like that of al-Sunan al-Rawaatib which are done before and after fard (prayers) and which make up for any shortfall in the number of obliagtory prayers. The same applies to fasts observed before and after Ramadaan. Just as al-Sunan al-Rawaatib are better than other kinds of voluntary prayers, so fasts observed (in the months) before and after Ramadaan are better than fasts at other times.

The month of Shaaban........{taken from another forum}
This is a month in which our beloved Prophet (peace be unto him) used to observe fasting. In fact, Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said “I never saw the Messenger of Allah fasting for an entire month except in Ramadan, and I never saw him fast more than he did in Shaaban.” [bukhari & Muslim].It was also reported that he (peace be unto him) used to fast all of Shaaban except for a day or two.
So what is the idea behind fasting this month in particular? Shaaban comes between the months of Rajab and Ramadan, both of which are months of fasting. Fasting in Ramadan - as we know - is obligatory, while Rajab is one of the four sacred months and thus fasting (part of) it is recommended. So people often tend to ignore fasting during Shaaban. However, the Prophet (peace be unto him) recommends acts of worship at times and places in which people tend to forget Allah. In the meaning of an authentic hadith, he teaches us that ‘one who remembers Allah amongst those who do not is like a steadfast fighter among those who are fleeing.’ Another notable advantage of fasting during Shaaban is that it prepares us for fasting during Ramadan.
People who are not accustomed to fasting before Ramadan often find difficulty during the month, especially during the first couple of days. A question that often arises is whether to fast during the second half of Shaaban, which is just before Ramadan. One of the scholars’ opinions on this matter is that if one has fasted the first half of the month, he/she can continue during the second half; if one has not, he/she should not start fasting in the latter half so as not to become week prior to Ramadan.
May Allah guide us to the very best of deeds during Shaaban and rest of the year.

German Catholics Urge Full Rights To Muslims
"The Islamic-Christian dialogue in Germany is of the Catholic Church's priorities," Leman
By Khaled Schmitt, IOL Correspondent
BONN, September 26 (IslamOnline.net) – In a new bold step towards ending religious discrimination in Germany, the council of Catholic bishops called on all institutions to secure legitimate rights to the three-million-estimated Muslim community and positively interact with them.
The council members decided at the end of their meeting Wednesday, September 24, to exert all efforts needed for Muslims to get the rights entitled to them legally and constitutionally, read a document issued out of the gathering, a copy of which was sent to IslamOnline.net.
Entitled "Christians and Muslims in Germany", the 200-page document contained the council's adamant support for putting Islamic teachings on the curriculum of Muslim students in public schools and providing halal food at work places, schools and universities.
More Mosques
The document called on local governments to facilitate procedures for building mosques in the country and allowing Azan (call for prayers) to blare out and certain areas be allocatted for Muslims to do their five-time prayers.
It urged opening up the society to Muslims and showing a greater degree of respect for their burial rituals by, for example, providing suitable graves and encouraging up the work of Islamic burial societies.
Hijab Still Suspending
In the meanwhile, the council of Catholic bishops declined to comment on the issue of preventing Muslim women teachers from wearing hijab in public schools, but expressed regret over the inability of Catholic Church to intervene for their help.
But the document carried the bishops' support of the Muslims' demands as legitimate and normal, adding they are concerned as Christians about showing the true image of religious freedom in the country.
In return, it called on Arab and Islamic countries to alleviate restrictions on their Christian minorities, noting that the restrictions do not mean identically tightening measures on the Muslim community in Germany.
More Dialogue
Head of the German Catholic Church, bishop Karl Leman, said the document is part of a series the body has begun to publish since 1982 as part of efforts to promote ties between the country's Catholics and Muslims.
Long years since the beginning of the Christian-Islamic dialogue, Leman admitted, Islam is still not introduced well here because of negative stereotypes long etched into the minds of people of the European country.
Nevertheless, Muslims showed all along last decades readiness for dialogue and interaction with the society, but Germans shied away from engaging in any cooperation with their Muslim neighbors, he said.
Halting Islamophobia
Leman said his institution had formed groups of priests, media specialists and psychologists to remove all preconceived ideas on Islam and Islamophobia.
He said at the end of the document that the Islamic-Christian dialogue in Germany is of the Catholic Church's priorities.
Half of Germany's population is Catholics, and the other half is protestants, but large numbers quit the two sects every year to embrace no religion.
Also, there are some 72,000 churches that are deserted facing closedown or being offered for sale because Germans are not frequenting them.

Lina, Palestinian Toddler Killed By Israeli "Fright Machine"
Horror and fright killed this angel (look at pic down)
By Ahmed Abu Aqleen, IOL Gaza Correspondent
GAZA CITY, September 26 (IslamOnline.net) - Through their tears, the parents of the three-year-old Palestinian Lina Hassan Issa told IslamOnline.net Friday, September 26, about the hours of horror, caused by Israeli helicopters and tank fire, prior to the loss of their toddler who died of "fright".
Lina, whose house was adjacent to one of the buildings raided by the occupation army, died of fright during one of the continuous Israeli raids on the Palestinian territories.
At dawn Thursday, September 25, a column of 35 Israeli armored vehicles, including tanks, pushed into the Al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, backed up by a helicopter gunship.
"It was 3 am, we were all asleep and the house was quiet. Suddenly, I was awakened by the sounds of Israeli Apachi helicopters firing intensively and I knew our neighborhood was the target of a new raid," Lina's father, Hassan, recalled the horrible moments.
"Minutes later, the sound of firing grew louder and became deafening. Suddenly, I saw Lina jumping out of her bed and running towards me with the deepest look of horror I have ever seen engraved of her little face. She threw herself in my open arms and started screaming hysterically.
"I felt her tiny body shaking and all my attempts to calm her down bore no fruit with the continuous firing outside. Gradually, her body temperature started falling, she stopped screaming and her face became as pale as that of a corpse," he added, through his wet face.
It was obvious Hassan himself was on the verge of collapse as he recalled the terrible experience of a father holding his dying child while completely helpless to save his dearest. One may wonder what else could be crueler to a father, any father.
After some words of comfort, Hassan could pull himself together to continue.
"I tried to rush out of the house to take her to the hospital but that was impossible with the sounds of tank shells and continuous explosions outside. Three hours later, the occupation forces withdrew. I rushed to the hospital, carrying Lina who was then as quiet as dead.
"I reached al-Aqsa hospital where the medical staff did their utmost to save her but to no avail. My little angel was killed by the fright her little heart could not handle," he concluded.
Sparrow In Paradise
At first, I was hesitant to try to speak with Lina's mother who has not yet stopped crying over the loss of her daughter whom she described as "the family angel".
"Praise be to Allah, my daughter is now in Paradise just like a little sparrow, God Willing," she said.
"Lina was our smile and our joy. She used to fill our gatherings with a cheerful atmosphere with her endless innocence and childish humor.
"Before going to bed, she would always kiss us good night and I loved watching her going to bed with her ever smiling face. I always wondered about the sweet dreams she ought to be seeing in her sleep," she added.
Lina was the fourth among her siblings. The oldest (Hamouda) is 5 and the youngest (Asmaa) is one
