SADDAM SUPERPANTS - A U.S. DECOY

SADDAM SUPERPANTS - A U.S. DECOY

24/5/05

By Abu Sulayman

On Saturday 21st May, another leak of prison abuse and torture against Muslims by American soldiers occurred (this time in Afghanistan). On the same day pictures of Saddam Hussein in his underpants were beamed across the world accompanied by stories of violation of 'Human Rights' and 'suing newspapers'.

Another major scandal was avoided as the abuse in Afghanistan was almost ignored by the media and consequently most of the Ummah as they were caught up and riveted by 'the underpants'. For a man that dedicated his life to being a subservient American Agent, it seems that even in prison Saddam serves a purpose for his master.

 Letter from...

Salam:

The following letter was sent from Malcolm to his assistants, new Muslim Mosque, press and his wife, during the conclusion of his pilgrimage to Mecca. The content is reproduced from The Autobiography of Malcolm X as told to Alex Haley".

----------------------------------------------

Never have I witnessed such sincere hospitality and the overwhelming spirit of true brotherhood as practiced by people of all colors and races here in this Ancient Holy Land, the home of Abraham, Muhammad and all other prophets of the Holy Scriptures. For the past week, I have been utterly speechless and spellbound by the graciousness I see displayed all around me by people of all colors.

I have been blessed to visit the Holy City of Mecca. I have made my seven circuits around the Ka'ba, led by a young Mutawaf named Muhammad. I drank water from the well of Zem Zem. I ran seven times back and forth between the hills of Mt. Al-Safa and Al-Marwah. I have prayed in the ancient city of Mina, and I have prayed on Mt. Arafat.

There were tens of thousands of pilgrims, from all over the world. They were of all colors, from blue eyed blonds to black skin Africans. But we were all participating in the same rituals, displaying a spirit of unity and brotherhood that my experiences in America had lead me to believe never could exist between the white and non-white.

America needs to understand Islam, because this is the one religion that erases from its society the race problem. Throughout my travels in the Muslim world, I have met, talked to, and even eaten with people who in America would have considered 'white' -- but the 'white' attitude was removed from their minds by the religion of Islam. I have never before seen sincere and true brotherhood practiced by all colors together, irrespective of their color.

You may be shocked by these words coming from me. But on this pilgrimage, what I have seen, and experienced, has forced me to re-arrange much of my thought patterns previously held, and to toss aside some of my previous conclusions. This was not too difficult for me. Despite my firm convictions, I have always been a man who tries to face facts, and to accept the reality of life as new experiences and new knowledge unfolds it. I have always kept an open mind, which is necessary to the flexibility that must go hand in hand with every form of intelligent search for truth.

During the past eleven days here in the Muslim world, I have eaten from the same plate, drunk from the same glass, and slept in the same bed, (or on the same rug) -- while praying to the same God -- with fellow Muslims, whose eyes were the bluest of blue, whose hair was the blondest of blond, and whose skin was the whitest of white. And in the same words and in the actions and in the deeds of the 'white' Muslims, I felt the same sincerity that I felt among the black African Muslims of Nigeria, Sudan and Ghana.

We were truly all the same (brothers) -- because their belief in one God had removed the 'white' from their minds, the 'white' from their behavior, and the 'white' from their attitude.

I could see from this, that perhaps if white Americans could accept the Oneness of God, then perhaps, too, they could accept in reality the Oneness of Man -- and cease to measure, and hinder, and harm others in terms of their differences in color.

With racism plaguing America like an incurable cancer, the so-called 'Christian' white American heart should be more receptive to a proven solution to such a destructive problem. Perhaps it could be in time to save America from imminent disaster -- the same destruction brought upon Germany by racism that eventually destroyed the Germans themselves.

Each hour here in the Holy Land enables me to have greater spiritual insights into what is happening in America between black and white. The American Negro never can be blamed for his racial animosities -- he is only reacting to four hundred years of conscious racism of the American whites. But as racism leads America up the suicide path, I do believe, from the experience that I have had with them, that the whites of the younger generation, in the colleges and universities, will see the handwriting on the wall and many of them will turn to the spiritual path of truth -- the only way left to America to ward off the disaster that racism inevitably must lead to.

Never have I been so highly honored. Never have I been made to feel more humble and unworthy. Who would believe the blessings that have been heaped upon an American Negro? A few nights ago, a man who would be called in America a 'white' man, a United Nations diplomat, an ambassador, a companion of kings, gave me his hotel suite, his bed. By this man, His Excellency Prince Faisal, who rules this Holy Land, was made aware of my presence here in Jedda. The very next morning, Prince Faisal's son, in person, informed me that by the will and decree of his esteemed father, I was to be a State Guest.

The deputy Chief of Protocol himself took me before the Hajj Court. His Holiness Sheikh Muhammad Harkon himself okayed my visit to Mecca. His Holiness gave me two books on Islam, with his personal seal and autograph, and he told me that he prayed that I would be a successful preacher of Islam in America. A car, a driver, and a guide, have been placed at my disposal, making it possible for me to travel about this Holy Land almost at will. The government provides air conditioned quarters and servants in each city that I visit. Never would I have even thought of dreaming that I would ever be a recipient of such honors -- honors that in America would be bestowed upon a King -- not a Negro.

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the Worlds.

Sincerely,

A party in Paradise and a party in Hell

Found this on another forum and of course I would like to share it with my brothers and sisters and others interested in what is to come.

May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala reward the sister who has made the translation.

A Party in Paradise and a Party in Hell

Shaykh Abu 'Ali Nabeel al-Awadhi

Transliteration of a translation of the Shaykh's khutbah

Bismillaahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem

Alhamdulillaahi rabil-'aalameen, was-salaatu was-salaamu 'ala nabeeyinaa muhammad wa'ala aalihi wa ashaabihi wa man tabi'ahum bi ihsaanin ila yawmid-deen, amma b'ad:

The Companions of our Prophet Muhammed (salallaahu 'alayhi wa salaam) used to gather to remember death so that they would benefit their souls by increasing in fear of Allaah and strive to gain His pleasure. If this was the case of the Sahaabah and they were the best of generations, the most pious and God-fearing of this ummah, then what about us? Surely, itmeans that we need to engage in the remembrance of Allaah - The Most Perfect, The Most High - even more. After all, we are in far more need of this act of worship than they were.

Let us begin at the end of a man's life, in his last moments. He is lying on his death bed and his family are at his side. His father is calling for the doctor. His wife asks him: "To whom are you leaving us?". The man's little daughter asks him, "Why do you not answer me?", andhis small boy cries but nobody responds to him. This is the situation Allaah, The Most High and The Most High, has informed us about:

"Nay, when the soul reaches the throat, and it is said: "Who will cure him now?". The dying person concludes that this is the time for departing. The leg joins the other leg."
[Al-Qiyaamah: 26-29]

They place him in his shroud, his leg joins his other leg. Then he is carried upon the shoulders and taken to a dark hole. If he was a transgressing criminal he cries out: "Woe toit! Where are you taking it?"

"The drive that day will be to your Lord"
[Al-Qiyaamah: 30]

Then he is lowered into this ditch and dirt is thrown upon him until he is sealed in it. If he was a criminal, Allaah - The Most Perfect and The Most High - says:

"So he neither believed nor did he pray. Rather he belied and turned away."
[Al-Qiyaamah: 31-32]

This transgressor will remain in his grave alone, there will be no-one to sit with him and noone to keep him company. He will feel the heat of the fire, smell its foul odour, and be tortured therein. This man's grave will sqeeze in upon him so much so that the bones of his rib cage will cross each other. Despite all this punishment and all this torture and pain, he will hope that the hour will never be established. For this man knows that the hour is far worse and of he will be in greater loss on that Day.

The man hears 'As-Saakhah' from within his grave, and what is 'As-Saakhah'? It is the second blowing of the trumpet. This is when all that is in the graves shall be rais ed and ressurrected. So the criminal will cry:

"Woe to us, who has woken us from our resting place?" It will be said: "This is what the Ever-Merciful promised and the messengerswhere truthful."
[Yasin: 52]

The earth will be torn away from above him. This man will see the heavens being cleft assunder, the stars falling and being scattered, the oceans in their greatness bursting forth, burning, the graves will at that time bring forth their contents.

"Every person shall know what he has sent forth of good and bad deeds at that moment."
[Al-Infitaar: 1-5]

Then he will raised up and driven to the crowding place: 'Al-Mahshar'.

"That day, the mother who is nursing her child will become careless of it, the mother who is carrying her child will drop her load. That day, mankind will appear as if they are drunk yet they they are not drunk. Indeed the punishment of your Lord is great."
[Al-Hajj 1-2]

The mother will come to her son and say: "Oh my son, my breast was a container for you,my womb was a container for you. Oh my son I seek from you a hasanah (merit) that I may approach Allaah with. My son, do not be greedy towards me". In the world this son would have sacrificed his life, rather many lives for merely the happiness of his mother so how does he treat her now? He responds to her plea: "Get away from me! Leave me! Indeed I am in need of this merit more than you."

"So when 'As-Saakhah' comes. That day a man will flee from his brother, from his mother and his father, from his wife and his children. That day every man shall have enough to make him careless of others."
[Al-Abasa: 33-37]

So mankind will wait in this crowding place for 50,000 years, after which Allaah, The Most Perfect and The Most High, will come to judge them. So He will call the criminal and say to him, "Oh so and so, did I not give you of the cold water to drink? Did I not give you a healthy body? Did I not give you many bounties? What have you done with all that which I bestowed upon you?" So the man replies, "I have done nothing my Lord." So he lies to his Lord on that day. Allaah says: "Where are the witnesses!". So the Angelscome and bear witness that this criminal did not pray in those moments of prayer, he drank, fornicated, lied, cursed and insulted. He turned away from belief and was proud and arrogant. So the criminal says to his Lord, "I do not accept accept a wintness except one from myself." His Lord replies to him, "And you have that?"

"The day when we shall seal their mouths, there hands will speak to us and their legs will bear witness to that which they used to earn."
[Yasin: 65]

So he turns to his skin and says to it: it was only for you that I was arguing.

"Nay, when the earth is shaken a true shaking and your Lord comes with the Angels in rows. That day the Fire will be brought near. That day man will remember but how will that remembrance avail him?He will say, 'Woe to me! Would that I had put forth something forthis life.' "
[Al-Fajr: 21-24]

This man then remembers. This criminal remembers that when he heard the call for prayerand he did not respond to it. He remembers when he woke and the sun had already risen yet he had not prayed al-fajr. This man remembers when he abused this one, when he slandered that one, when he earned that unlawful wealth, when he struck this one and killed that one. This criminal remembers every sin with which he disobeyed Allaah with. That day all his remorse and regret amounts to nothing. Then Allaah will say, "Sieze him and fetter him. Then throw him into the blazing fire. Then put a chain which is 70 cubits long through him. Indeed he did not used to believe in Allaah, The Most Perfect, The Most

High." The Angels will then drag him upon his face into the fire. As he enters it he will see his friends from the world already present.

"Every time a nation enters it curses it sister nation."
[Al-a'araaf: 38].

So he is greeted with curses and given a wretched abode in which to abide. The fire encompasses him from all sides roasting, burning his skin completely,

"Whenever their skins have been done (burnt away) we replace them with new skins so that they may taste of the punishment."
[an-Nisaa:56].

Their food in the fire is Ad-Daree' (a thorny plant).

"No food will they have except Ad-Daree'. It neither nourishes norremoves hunger."
[Al-Ghaashiyah: 6-7]

When they eat it they choke due to the thorns. So when they are choking they ask to be rescued with water, so they are rescued with an intensly boiling water which grills their faces when they appoach it. When they drink from the water, due to its heat, it cuts their intestines and causes them an increased pain. They eat from Az-Zaquum. They eat a bitter fruit which cannot be tasted.

"Indeed the tree of Zaquum will be the food of the sinners. Like boiling oil, it will boil in the belies, like the boiling of scalding water. It will be said : Drag, sieze him and drag him into the midst of the blazing fire. Then pour upon his head the torment of boiling water.Taste! You were pretending to be the Mighty the Generous."
[ad-Dukhaan: 43-49]

Due to this intense pain, suffering and anguish they are experiencing they call upon the guardian of hell-fire,

"They call, Oh Maalik let your Lord destroy us" After many years he responds to them with two words "You are staying." [
43:77].

After all of this, they have one last chance and they call upon their Lord, "Oh our Lord wewere indeed astray! Oh our Lord we were indeed misguided, we did fall short. Return us to the world so that we can do good instead of that which we used to do." Allaah replies to them, "Rot in it and do not speak to me. After this they do not speak nor do they utter."They are then called from afar, "Oh dwellers of the fire, do you know what this is?" They reply, "Yes that is death in the form of a ram." Death is then slaughtered in a place between Al-Jannah an An-Naar. It is said to the dwellers of the fire, ever-lasting life without death. As for the other group, the ones who obeyed their Lord in this world, let us describe briefly their fate: When he is placed into his grave it is widened and made spacious for him. He smells the sweet fragrance of Al-jannah and feels some of its comforts. He sleeps in his grave like a bride on her wedding night who no-one shall awaken except her beloved. When the cry comes he is gathered to the crowding place and waits there for 50,000 years. This time passes as if it were the time between Zohar and Asr. Then the Lord of the worlds comes to make judgement, so He calls His slave saying, "Oh my slave, do you not remember that sin, do you not remember this sin." So the slave replies, "My Lord I have perished!" So Allaah replies to him, "I hid it in the world for you and this day I forgive it." This good man is handed his book in his right hand. Due to his happiness he runs to the people and says "Take it; read my book. Indeed I used to think I would meet my accounting."

"So he will be in a content life."
[Al-Haaqah: 19-21]

Then he will be crowded from a group of al-jannah. The Jannah has eight gates and between each gate is a distance that would take 40 years to traverse. There comes a day when the gates are crowded. So as this slave of Allaah enters Al-Jannah he is greeted withsalaam (peace). He sees before him 4 rivers:

"... In it are rivers of water, the taste and smell of which are not changed. Rivers of milk of which the taste never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those wo drink and rivers of clear and pure honey ..."
[Muhammad: 15]

He has therein a house and he knows this house as he knows his dwelling in this life. His house is made from bricks of gold and silver. In it he has wives from the Hoorul-'een.

"And Hooron 'een, like untouched, unseen, precious pearls. Areward for what they used to do."
[Al-Waaqiah: 22-24]

"Indeed we have created them a special creation, made them virgins, loving only their husbands of equal age."
[al-Waaqiah: 35-37]

Every time they cohabit with their husbands they return to being virgins. Outside this house he has a tent, in it he has wives. When he goes to one of them, the other does not see him. In Al-Jannaah the righteous slave has everything he desires, wishes and wants. He neither feels extreme heat nor the bitter cold:

"They will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun nor thebitter cold." [Al-Insaan:
13].

There is not a tree in Al-Jannaah except its trunk is made of gold. When he requires its fruit he does not need to get up from his place, since it comes to him:

"The bunches of fruit thereof hang low, within reach."
[al-Insaan: 14].

"They are served by youthful boys who never age. If you were to seethem you would think them scattered pearls."
[al-Insaan: 19]

So he resides therein, tranquil and at ease. No pain, no ill feeling and no foul speech. Life without death, lasting with no end. These are not mere stories that we tell to amuse ourselves or scare one another, rather they are the destinies of the ones who obey Allaah and those who disobey. Allaah calls His slaves to repentance many times in every day so avail these opportunities. Repentance has only three conditions, that you be sincere to Allaah, that you leave the sin and that you make a firm resolve that you never return to the sin.So be the children of the Hereafter and not the children of this life; a party in Paradise and a party in the Hell-fire.

By Ahlam Amro (Umm Habibah)

Dear Mrs Bush and her fellow oppressed, socially subjugated and blinded female supporters,

After hearing your demeaning and malicious address aimed at us women in the Middle Eastern societies i.e. Muslims, I felt compelled to produce this reply. During what was supposedly an Economic Forum today in Jordan, you made an agenda to highlight the ‘lack of literacy, education, freedom and rights as well as the severe oppression faced by the Muslimah’. Well, Laura, it seems that you had your business suit on too tight and have become blinded by the false reassurance of your latest makeover and hairstyle. Either that, or you are completely ignorant of Islamic culture while being accustomed to the unnatural atrocities and constant humiliation faced by women in the West. Therefore I will address your speech; I will then advise YOU and YOUR society on the terrible oppression YOU as women are facing…

- Mrs. Bush, you live in a society where pornography is normal and the depiction of women in humiliating poses and demeaning acts is considered an ‘expression of freedom’. A dozen men committing animalistic acts upon a single woman is your society’s idea of a ‘turn on’. Even the advertising of a sports car or a chocolate bar requires a demeaning image of a half naked woman used as a mere visual device.

Islam forbids the performing of jobs which aim to exploit and demean a woman's femininity.

- Your society is one which deems the natural God given beauty of motherhood as a ‘hindrance to one’s career and needs to be put on hold’. You have even gone as far as demonizing child birth as a horrific and painful experience which results in ‘depression’ and ‘losing one’s curvaceous figure’.

In Islam the concept of child birth is such an honor that a woman who dies during childbirth is described as a 'martyr'.

- You live in a society where an adulterous husband is acceptable i.e. there is no law punishing such illicit behavior. Just ask your predecessor, Hilary, to know first hand the humiliation and dishonor of a cheating husband who is not held accountable. In fact pre-nuptial agreements related to mistrust within relationships even before marriages occur is now a ‘norm’ in your society.

Islam punishes the adulterer and the fornicator.

- Your society indoctrinates teenage girls through the various media forms that the preservation of one’s virginity is something shameful and a lack of 'boyfriends' a reflection of their inadequacy to attract the opposite sex.

Islam encourages marriage at an early age thus satisfying the instincts in a civilized manner, not that of promiscuous animals who have no recognition of the person they woke up with the following morning. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Oh you who are young. Whoever amongst you who can afford to marry should marry”.

- Prostitutes and their Pimps on sidewalks i.e. ‘free’ women who have to sell their bodies for a living, are commonplace in your ‘free’ society.

Islam makes it obligatory upon the man to earn money to look after his family, but not for the woman. Rather it is permitted for her whether she wishes to work or does not wish to work. Allah (SWT) said: “Let the rich man (zu sa’atin) spend according to his means”. [At- Talaq: 7] (The ‘zu’ being used in the masculine gender only). And He (SWT) says: “But the father of the child shall bear the cost of the mother’s food and clothing” [Al-Baqarah: 233]

- Mrs. Bush, you spoke of the need for our women to be successful – is that the 'success' of more than 90% of female Hollywood celebrities who have had to bare their flesh or wear scantily clad dresses at award ceremonies to get any hope of recognition for their talent? Is it the same kind of 'success' that drove actress Halle Berry to be completely naked in a movie so that she could be the first African American woman to receive an Oscar?

In Islam the true meaning of success is to do that which pleases my Creator, Allah SWT , and to refrain from what he has forbidden me from – therefore attaining eternal Paradise, Inshallah.

- ‘First Lady’ you are, of a society that terms women who wish to devote their time bringing up their children and being with their husbands as ‘failures wasting their potential’. Surely Mrs. Bush, if you’d have spent more time at home with your own children instead of gallivanting around the world with your inferiority complex, surely then your daughter wouldn’t have had her drinking problem?

- Speaking of motherhood Mrs. Bush, you mentioned the importance of 'educating' mothers in your speech. Well, we all know that America has a really high opinion of 'mothers'. Phrases such as "motherf***er", "Bitch" and "Whoare" are casually and commonly used terms of the western youth who are 'educated' with your hedonistically sacrilegious pop culture. Incidentally the latter expression (whoare) was stolen by your Christian forefathers after the massacre and slaughter of innocent Muslims in the satanic Crusades. The term 'houreeh" as mentioned in the Noble Qur'an, refers to the pure chaste women of Jannah (heaven). In an attempt to deface our Islamic values, the Crusaders adopted and used the term in a derogatory manner so as to insult and corrupt the notion of the 'Women of Jannah'. Is it no coincidence Laura, that with your speech you too are attempting to achieve the same thing with the Muslimah of today?

Islam silences the tongues of those who speak badly of and slander the honor of women. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Avoid the seven great destructive sins”. The people enquired,“Oh Allah’s Messenger! What are they?” He (SAW) said: “to associate partners along with Allah, to practice sorcery, to kill the life which Allah has forbidden, to eat up Riba (usury), to eat up an orphan’s wealth, to retreat in front of the enemy at the time of fighting, and to accuse chaste and unaware women believers”.

- With regards to the education you so passionately want for us – does that include the numerous books of classical English literature which glamorize adultery and fornication? Does it include the numerous daytime television programs which satisfy your society by offering them pathetic escapism from their mundane lives by showing facial makeovers, hot spas and dream homes? Is it the same education where mindless gibberish about soap operas, Hollywood gossip and movies are deemed the main topic of discussion? Does it include an education system which aims at destroying the Islamic values in turn for the self centered individualistic approach of Capitalism? Oh Laura, haven't you heard of Umm al Mu'mineen, Aisha (ra) who was a Mujthahida? Islam demands education and literacy but with our culture and values including Fiqh, Usul, Tilawa etc. Which will benefit or educate me and my children more - reading Laurence's 'Lady Chatterley's Lover' or Ibn Ishaq's 'Heyat ar Rasul'? I don't need to guess which one you've read. Indeed your quality 'education' has made your nation of cheerleading American youths to reject YOU as a role model in preference to the highly 'literate and conceptual' Britney Spears.

In Islam the pursuance of knowledge and understanding is an obligation, the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim.”

- You spoke of domestic violence as if it was a serious disease spreading in the Middle East. How ironic coming from a woman whose society glorifies and glamorizes the beating, humiliation and rape of women through their various media forms of music and movies.

- Oh Laura! How dare you talk of the need for protection of women in the Middle East when it is an established fact that the rape rate in America is the highest in the world. What we do need protection from is your society's corrupt ideas and values which have created such an atmosphere of fear and evil that women in America are afraid to walk the streets alone at night. Even an elderly woman is afraid of answering the door, not just from a burglary but of the common possibility that she too will be gagged and gang raped by a product of your ideology. Will you deny that it's not common for a woman in America to be mugged or raped in a public place, such as the subway, and have her screams for help completely ignored?

In Islam a woman is deemed such an honor that her dignity is protected at all costs. Such is the magnitude of Islam's high view of women, that a Muslim man who dies defending his honor is given the blessing of being a martyr. The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “Whoever is killed defending his Ahal (kin) is a martyr.” The Arabic word Ahal, includes the wife, the mother and the daughter.

- So Laura, when is the ‘nip and tuck’ due or the upcoming ‘facelift’? Your oppressive society has made women so self conscious and feeling inadequate that plastic surgery is almost a fashion accessory. Is America really producing, strong, confident women if they are turning to breast implants and collagen lips for an ego boost?

The example of the woman who openly accounted Caliph Umar ibn al Khattab (ra) because of a proposal to restrict the dowry is a vivid example of the kind of supreme confidence and rights Islam empowers a woman with.

While you may correctly argue that many of the examples of oppression within the West of which I have mentioned also occur in the Muslims lands, let us be frank though, Laura dear. These issues are occurring in our societies because of our LACK of an ISLAMIC society and the cultural invasion of your Capitalist scourge within our lands. Your culture tirelessly works to turn 'Nancy Agram' and 'Ruby' into our role models and simultaneously forget Nusaybah bint Kab and Safiyah bint Abdul Mutallib (ra), yet your speech indicates that even that is not corrupt enough. I pray to Allah SWT that he gives us women of the Islamic Ummah the strength to sacrifice our wealth, energy, children and lives for the resumption of an Islamic Society so that you and your misguided counterparts can witness how a woman is truly 'liberated'.

Yours sincerely

Ahlam Amro (Umm Habibah – and proud of it)

P.S. Just to let you know, in the News today they have decided to outlaw Body Sushi in China (the eating of food from a naked woman’s body), NOT because it is completely derogatory to women but because it is now considered unhygienic. Now that’s food for thought eh Laura?

faith is a gateway to peace

Faith is a gateway to peace

Work, stress, ambition, strife and anxiety, all have come to characterize today's fast-paced, hi-tech life. The toll they take on a person's life could be massive, ranging from an outright emotional imbalance to nervous disorders. As the world promises more of the same in the future and lifestyle inflicts psychological wounds not easily healed, people are bound to find themselves pulled off their moorings and disoriented.

Religions have always tried to infuse a sense of purpose into human life and guide people through their problems. And more than any other period in human history, the current era desperately needs religious values. In this context, how does Islam help a person cope with his problems? And how does Islam help a person in these turbulent times? In the answers to these questions lies a deep insight into the understanding of Islam. And there is a powerful driving force behind this transformation - Faith.

Islam is not just a set of dos and don'ts, which when followed meticulously, become a passport to paradise. It is a practical religion that offers a way of life capable of transforming an individual.

True faith has helped millions and millions of Muslims weather life's vagaries and achieve peace. Early Muslims, during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) suffered unbearable persecution at the hands of pagans, who employed every brutal, inhuman means to make them discard their religion, but faith in Allah was the only weapon that helped them succeed.

Despite being a minuscule minority, they fought and won great wars, organized themselves into an ideal community and spread the message of Islam worldwide. Since then till today, true Muslims have found peace through their religion, and converts to this great religion talk about the same peace.

How does Islamic faith help a person achieve peace? First, Islam requires that a Muslim put his trust in Allah. This trust should be complete, born of the understanding that both good and bad come from Allah, and that He is the best protector of His servants against all the adversities in life. Allah says: "Say, 'Never will we be struck except by what Allah has decreed for us; He is our Protector. And on Allah let the believers put their trust."
(9:51).

Once man knows that this universe runs as per His will, the events of this world, cataclysmic or otherwise, should not worry him. Moreover, every action is a reaction to the preceding action, which leads one to a chain of events originating in the primal causes.

Islam also enjoins its adherents to work towards their goals through lawful and moral means. There are many who set out to achieve certain objectives in life, especially careers, in which they invest their resources and emotions so intensely that failure reduces them to mental wrecks. A Muslim is supposed to patiently persevere in his ventures, and leave the rest to Allah. The Quran says: "whatever of mercy Allah may grant to mankind, none can withhold it, and whatever He may withhold, none can grant it thereafter…"
(35:2)

Secondly, Islam means the submission of human will to Allah's will. This submission tempers one's ego, refines the mind and promotes harmonious living with fellow beings. Everyone has to accept what is ordained for him and Allah has made it clear that He has bestowed more favors on some than others, and no one needs to be disheartened, as what ultimately counts with Allah is faith and good actions, not wealth, position, race etc.

Third, faith purifies one's heart by encouraging good and discouraging evil. Islam lays much stress on the purification of the heart, which ensures a healthy mind.

Bismillah

Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) said: "Verily in the body there is a piece of flesh. If it is sound, the whole body is sound. If it is corrupt, the whole body is corrupt. Verily, it is the heart." (Ahmed)

Salah purifies the heart. Faith is the prime ingredient of salah and salah without faith is hollow. Like a goodly seed growing into a tree with flowers and fruits, faith grows in a person, and spawns good qualities.

The more intense a person's faith, the more peaceful and stress-free he/she becomes. In this age of crass consumerism, cut-throat competition and wayward life, people are weaving lives around dreams, chasing goals difficult to achieve and stretching more than they can cope with, resulting in mental breakdowns and depression.

In this pervasive gloom, Islam shines like a beacon to lead those who are looking for peace; and for those who are caught in the violent storms of life, it offers the courage and guidance to steer forward.
