First off, thanks for being open to me about what you believe. When I started here I knew very little about Islam. I don't claim to know everything about it now by any stretch, but I do have an understanding of Islam's core beliefs. I would encourage anybody I know who wants to know what Muslims believe to come to this website and engage in discussion with you kind folks.
I do not, however, believe anything about Islam to be true.
I reject the notion that Allah is the God of Abraham.
Taking the moongod of Arabic paganism and grafting him onto some Jewish History and Law, does not make him Jehovah and does not make him the Father of Christ. The two faiths share a history, because Judism and Christianity predate Islam and their well-documented histories were easily "borrowed," but in a heretical, pick-and-choose manner. If the natures of God and Jehovah are different, even if they share some law and history, how can they be the same immutable God?
Yet further, one can compare "Allah" to the God of the bible and notice marked difference.
Where in Islam is the Grace of the Judeo-Christian God?
Without Grace His Truth cannot be His Truth because He kept Grace and Truth in perfect balance. Truth without Grace deteriorates into self-righteous legalism (manner in which nails are clipped for example) and a prideful false doctrine of works, in which mankind delusion ally believes that he has the power to save himself. Who masquerades as an angel of light to create fog by mixing Truth with confusing lies? Islam meets the description of the Biblical "Doctrine of Demons." Christ, Paul, Peter, and John warned us about such false prophecy.
I also think that the life of your Prophet Mohammed was rather deplorable and in my opinion the biggest obstacle Islam presents to the Western free-thinker.
Many Americans wonder if Islam is inherently violent. Our media and government tells us that Islam is peaceful. George Bush even tells us that Islam is the religion of Peace. I believe that many Muslims are peaceful but I reject the notion that Islam itself is peaceful. How can it be? Look at the life of Mohammed.
It seems that we can determine whether Islam is inherently violent by looking at Mohammed's life, actions, and teachings. There is uncontested early historical record <i>from Muslims</i> that Mohammed typically ordered the assassination of his critics and praised the assassins for their work. The early Muslim records also mention him ordering torture, massacre, enslavement of the conquered, and granting permission for his troops to rape their female captives (though the Muslims, to be fair, do not see this as rape, since they do not believe that female war captives have the right of refusal, but are part of the booty distributed to the conquerors along with the gold and crops).
Religion of peace? When the early Muslim biographer Ibn Ishaq summed up Mohammed's career, he made a tally of how many raids and battles and other military campaigns Mohammed had either ordered or participated in. Why would someone say that Islam is a religion of peace? I don't believe that Islam is peaceful.
The early Muslim records do mention Mohammed lying about his intended target of attack so as to be sure no warning was given his intended targets, and allowing his followers to lie in order to achieve access to an assassination target. Mohammed's hadiths include this: "Warfare is deceit."
The teachings of Mohammed are so far removed from the teachings of Christ that it is impossible that they are both "prophets" from the same God.
I liken Islam to another false religion called Mormonism. Mormonism is false. We BOTH agree about that. Yet the Mormon Church is growing every year. Worldwide there are already 13,000,000 members or so and this religion only started in the late 1800s. Both religions were delivered to a man from an "angel." Both religions claim to be the last revelation from God to mankind. Both "prophets" Mohammed and Joseph Smith are controversial figures whose lives didn't seem to mirror the laws which they gave to their followers. Joseph Smith and Mohammed both crafted special rules for themselves regarding plural marriage.
Islam, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witness, Christian Science and such are exaclty what Paul was warning against in Galatians as I have posted below.
I want to reiterate that I do appreciate your time with me. I'll continue to pray that you to find the grace and truth that is Jesus Christ.
With that I say goodbye.

Foreign News Desk
It has been revealed that the bombs used in the attacks "Israel" launched on the southern Lebanese village of Qana were produced by the US.
At least 60 civilians, most of whom were children had been killed in the attack.
The British newspaper Guardian reported that the bombs used in the attacks were laser-controlled BSU 37/B bunker busters manufactured by the US.
The Independent claimed that inscriptions on shrapnel found at the sight of the attack indicate that the bombs were manufactured by the US.
It also noted that the bombs were tested in the war field.
The same type bomb had been used in last week's attack that killed four UN observers.
The Bush administration had shipped 2.5 tons, 100 GBU-28 "bunker busters" to the region after the operation began on 12 July.
‘Silence Requires a Heart of Stone!'
The carnage in Qana dominated the world media.
The Guardian, recalling the Qana massacre of 1996 when 105 people were killed, stressed that "Israel's" foreign policies have never yielded concrete results and there was no guarantee that their latest policies would be any different.
David Clark, adviser for the Workers Party government, wrote that "Israel" had openly committed war crimes and that Blair and Bush were being hypocrites by not condemning all forms of terror.
In an article titled, 'How can we stand by and allow this to go on?' Robert Fisk, a popular journalist for Independent, writes, "You must have a heart of stone not to feel the outrage."

St John of Damascus on Islam |

<b>A contemporary or early Islam. St. John of Damascus wrote the following. </b>
St John of Damascus is a very important witness to early Islam. He was born into a very privileged family in Damascus (his grandfather had been the administrator of the city at the time the Muslims took it) and he grew up and served in the court of the caliph. He was entirely familiar with Islam (a name it did not yet possess, apparently), and thus what he has to say about it, and the context in which he places it, is of great historical importance. For one thing, this is a single chapter in his work On Heresies, part of his larger work, The Fountain of Knowledge. Thus, during his lifetime, St John did not consider Islam to yet be a separate religion, but rather a Christian heresy. In any case, he mentions several suras of the Qur’an by name, and refers most interestingly to one which is no longer extant. St John, in this work, as characteristically, pulls no punches. Enjoy.
~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~
And there is also the up until now strong and people-deceiving superstition of the Ishmaelites, being the forerunner of Antichrist. And it is born from Ishmael, who was born from Hagar to Abraham, from which they are called Hagarenes and Ishmaelites. And they call them Saracens, as from Σαρρας κενοι (those empty of Sarah), because of what was said by Hagar to the angel: “Sarah has sent me away empty.” So then, these were idolaters and reverenced the morning star and Aphrodite, who they indeed named Khabar in their own language, which means great. Therefore, until the time of Heraclius, they were plainly idolaters. From that time and until now came up among them a false prophet called Mamed, who, having encountered the Old and New Testament, as it seems, having conversed with an Arian monk, he put together his own heresy. And under the pretext of seeming pious, attracting (?) people, he reported that a book was sent down to him from heaven by God. Therefore some of the compositions written by him in a book, worthy of laughter, which he handed down to them as an object of reverence.
He says there is one God, the Maker of all things, neither having been begotten nor having begotten. He says Christ is the Word of God and His Spirit, only a creation and servant, and that he was born without seed from Mary the sister of Moses and Aaron. For he says the Word of God and the Spirit went into Mary and she bore Jesus who was a prophet and servant of God. And that the Jews, acting against the law, wanted to crucify him and having seized (him), they crucified his shadow. For Christ himself, they say, was not crucified nor did he die, for God took him to himself into heaven because he loved him.
And he says this, that when Christ went up into the heavens, God questioned him, saying, “O Jesus, did you say that ‘I am the Son of God and God’?” And Jesus, they say, answered, “Have mercy on me, O Lord; you know that I did not say (that), nor am I too proud to be your servant, but men who have turned aside wrote that I said this word and lied about me, and are wandering.” And God, they say, answered him, “I know that you did not say this word.” And many other astonishing sayings in this same writing, worthy of laughter, he boasts God sent down to him.
But we say, “And who is the witness that God gave the writing to him, or which of the prophets foretold that such a prophet would arise?” And they are at a loss, as Moses received on Mount Sinai, in the sight of all the people, the Law of God who appeared in cloud and fire and darkness and storm. And that all the prophets, from Moses and onward, foretold the coming of Christ, and that Christ is God, and the Son of God, being flesh, will come, and will be crucified, and will die, and will rise again, and he will be the judge of the living and the dead. And we say, “Why did your prophet not come in this way, with others witnessing about him, nor coming among you as God gave the Law to Moses on a smoking mountain with all the people watching, and, as you claim, provide this book, so you also might have certainty?” They answer that God does as he wills. We know this too, we say. But, we ask, how did the writing come down to your prophet? And they answer that while he was asleep the writing came upon him. And we jokingly say to them that since he received the writing while sleeping, and did not sense the activity, in him is fulfilled the popular proverb (”You are spinning me dreams”).
Again we ask, “Why, when he commanded us in your writing not to do or to receive anything without witnesses, did you not ask him that ‘First you show through witnesses whether you are a prophet, and that you came from God, and which Scripture witnesses about you?’” They are silent, ashamed. To whom we say, “For good reason! Since it is not allowed for you to marry a woman without witnesses, nor to buy, nor acquire property (?), nor do you allow yourselves to have a donkey or an animal unwitnessed. For you indeed also have wives, and properties, and donkeys, and all the rest through witnesses, and you have only a faith and a writing unwitnessed. For he who handed this down to you has in no way an assurance, nor is any previous witness of him known, but he received this also while sleeping.”
And they call us Associators, because, they say, we introduce an associate to God by saying Christ is the Son of God and God. To whom we say that this is what the Prophets and Scripture have handed down. And you, as you insist, accept the Prophets. If, therefore, we are wrong saying Christ is the Son of God, they also are who taught and handed it down to us. And some of them indeed say that we have allegorized the Prophets, imputing (sayings) to them. Others say that the Hebrews, hating (us), have deceived us, having written as from the Prophets, so that we might be destroyed.
And again we say to them, “You say that Christ is the Word of God and the Spirit. How then do you rebuke us as ‘Associators’? For the Word and the Spirit are each of them unseparated from Him in Whom they have been born. If, therefore, in God is His Word, it is obvious he is also God. But if he is outside of God, as according to you, God is irrational (αλογος) and lifeless (απνους). Therefore, in avoiding to associate with God, you have mutilated him. But it would be better for you to say that he has an associate than to mutilate him, and represent him like a stone, or wood, or any of those insensible things. Thus, indeed, falsely accusing us, you call us ‘Associators.’ But we call you ‘Mutilators of God.’”
They also accuse us as idolaters for reverencing the Cross, which they despise. And we say to them, “Why, therefore, do you rub yourselves against the stone by your Khabathan, and love kissing the stone?” And some of them say Abraham had relations with Hagar upon it, and others that he tied up the camel around it when about to sacrifice Isaac. And we respond to them, “The Scripture says that there was a mountain like a grove, and wood from which also Abraham cut for the whole burnt offering on which he laid Isaac, and that he left the donkeys with the servants. Therefore, from what source is your foolish saying? For there is no wood of a forest lying in that place, nor travelling by donkeys.” They are indeed ashamed. Nevertheless, they say the stone is of Abraham. Then we say, “If it is of Abraham, as you foolishly say, therefore are you not ashamed, kissing this thing only because Abraham had relations with a woman upon it, or that he tied up a camel? But you censure us because we show reverence to the Cross of Christ through which the strength of the demons and the deceit of the Accuser is destroyed?” And this thing which they say is a stone is the head of Aphrodite which they reverenced, who they also called Khabar, upon which also even up to now the shadow of an inscription appears to careful observers.
As we have said, this Mamed composed many foolish sayings, and he laid upon each of them a title, like the writing “The Women,” in which also he plainly legislates (for a man) to take four wives and one thousand concubines if he is able, however many he might put under his hand, aside from the four wives. And he legislated to divorce whichever one he wishes, or if he wishes, also to take care of another, for this very reason: Mamed had a companion named Zeïd. This one had a beautiful wife, whom Mamed loved. Therefore, when they were sitting together, Mamed said, “Oh, by the way, God has ordered me to take your wife.” And he answered, “You are the Apostle; do as God has said to you. Take my wife.” Or rather, so we might tell it from the beginning, he said to him, “God has ordered me, that you divorce your wife” And he divorced. And after several days, he says, “But God has ordered that I will also take her.” Then he took (her) and committed adultery with her (and) made this law: “He who wills may divorce his wife, but if after divorcing, he would return to her, another must marry her; for it is not allowed to take (her back) if she has not been married by another. And even if a brother divorces, let his brother marry her, if he is willing.” And in the same writing, he transmits this message: “Plough the land which God has given to you, and beautify it” and do this, and in this way—so I might not say all the obscene things as he did.
Again, there is the writing of the Camel of God, about which he says that there was a camel from God, and she drank a whole river, and she could not pass between two mountains through which she could not fit. Therefore, he says, a people was in that place, and indeed on one day they would drink the water and the camel on the next. And while drinking the water, she maintained (?) them by providing milk instead of water. Therefore those men, being wicked, rose up, he says, and killed the camel. But there was a small camel of her offspring which, he says, when the mother had been done away with, cried out to God, and He took her to Himself. To them we say, “From where was that camel?” And they say that it was from God. And we say, “Did any other couple with this camel?” And they say, “No.” We say, “Therefore how did she give birth? For we see you camel is without father, without mother, without genealogy. And having given birth, she suffered evil. But neither does the coupler appear, and the little camel was taken up. Therefore, why did not your prophet, to whom, as you say, God has spoken, learn about the camel: where she pastures, and if any drank milk (?) by milking this one? Or was she not at some time, like her mother having met evil men, destroyed? Or did she enter into Paradise, your forerunner, from whom is your river which you foolishly say is of milk? For you say three rivers are to flow for you in Paradise: of water, wine, and milk. If your forerunner camel is outside of Paradise, it is obvious that she has dried up from hunger and thirst, or that others are enjoying her milk. And your prophet is boasting foolishly as having spoken with God, for the mystery of the camel was not revealed to him. And if she is in Paradise, she again drinks the water, and waterless, you will dry up in the midst of the delights of Paradise. But if you desire wine from the river flowing by, since there is no flowing water, for the camel drank it all, you will be inflamed (?) drinking unmixed wine, and collapse (?) in drunkenness, and fall asleep. And also, being heavy-headed after sleep, and having a headache from the wine, you will forget the pleasures of Paradise. Therefore, why did your prophet not think of these things that might happen to you in the Paradise of delights? Nor did he consider about the camel, where she now lives. But neither did you ask him, as the dream-teller was telling you about the three rivers. But we tell you definitely, your wonderful camel has run ahead of you into the souls of donkeys, where you are soon to live like animals. And in that place is the outer darkness, and endless punishment, the roaring fire, the unsleeping worm, and demons of Tartarus.
Mamed speaks again (in) the writing of The Table. And he says that Christ asked God for a table, and he gave it to him. For God, he says, said to him that “I have given to you and to yours an incorruptible table.”
Again, the writing of The Cow, and some other foolish sayings worthy of laughter, I think I should skip because of their number. He legislated that they be circumcised, including the women, and also commanded not to keep the Sabbath, nor to be baptized, and to eat some of the things forbidden in the Law, and to avoid (some of) those it permitted. And he entirely forbade the drinking of wine.

A'isha (radiAllahu anha [you were right!]) said that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, "Reciting the Qur'an during prayer is more excellent than reciting it at other times, and reciting Qur'an at a time other than prayer is more excellent than extolling Allah and declaring His Greatness. Extolling Allah is more excellent than sadaqah, sadaqah is more excellent than fasting, and fasting is a protection from Hell"

Bismillah:
what do you think of this saying?
<b>"For the foolishness of God </b> is wiser than man's wisdom, and <b>the weakness of God </b> is stronger than man's strength.
this saying is bothering me alot, does it mean..........
that regardless of how <b>smart and fool God and us humans are</b>, our intelligence will never reach even <b>the foolishness of God</b>!!!!!,
OR
<b>God is a fool? </b> ,
OR
<b>God is weak? </b> ,
OR
man is more <b>weaker and foolish than God</b>?
OR
The comparison itself
is <b>very insulting and degrading to God Almighty</b> It is also limiting to Him since our <b>finite and limited intelligence and strength were compared to His infinite Attributes</b>. ??
i go for the last option of course... but what do you all think??? Muslims and Non Muslims.

BILAL THE GREAT AFRICAN MUSLIM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bilal is very lovingly remembered by all Muslims of the world as one of the earliest great African Muslim.
He was born in a village in a mountainous place in Western Arabia. Bilal's father was called Rebah and his mother was known as Hamama.[1] They had come to Arabia as slaves from Ethiopia. The father and mother were slaves of Ummayya bin Khalaf, a rich man from the tribe of Quraish. Bilal was therefore born in slavery and served as a housekeeper. His master Ummayya bin Khalaf was not a Muslim.
When Bilal was about the age of 40, it was the time when Prophet Muhammad started teaching the new religion of Islam, Bilal was attracted by the teaching of Prophet Muhammad. He accepted the religion of Islam and became a Muslim.
When Ummayya bin Khalaf and his family went to worship idols, Bilal would pray to Allah as taught by Islam.
In the early days of Islam the tribe of Quraish who were strong and many and lived in and around Makkah, disliked Islam.
They also disliked Prophet Muhammad and his new teachings. If any person accepted the new religion, they oppressed and harassed him.
One day Ummayya bin Khalaf came to know of Bilal's secret prayers. He called Bilal and asked,
"Oh Bilal, do you worship and bow down to the God of Muhammad?"
Bilal was not afraid. He replied,
'Yes Master, I do worship Allah, the only God."
The reply angered Ummayya greatly. He began to torture Bilal. He was tied with ropes and made to lie on the burning hot desert sand at mid-noon. He was then asked to forget the God of Islam and worship the 'great' idols known as LAT and UZZA. But Bilal was strong in his new belief. He refused to worship idols and kept crying "AHAD-AHAD", meaning "One God, One God." The tortures continued and were increased. Hot iron rod were stamped on his pained body. Yet Bilal would not yield.
On one hot day Bilal lay on the burning hot sand tied to the ground. A very heavy stone was placed over his chest. Bilal could no longer bear the heat and the load so great. He had also grown weak. In that tied condition even water was denied to him. In the condition he lay and lost his senses. As the day neared its end, it became cooler; he regained his conscious (senses). He found that the heavy stone was no more on his chest. He wondered who had come to free him from pain. His heavy eyes slowly opened only to look at the bright smiling face of Prophet Muhammad.
Prophet Muhammad had heard of and seen the torture of Bilal. It pained him extremely to learn that a true believer should suffer in such a manner. He also felt pity for the poor man He told Abu Bakr to purchase Bilal from Ummayya and set him free. This was done. In similar ways the Prophet had many slaves set free. He insisted that slaves be treated fairly and kindly. By his own conduct he also set such examples.
When Bilal first came before the Holy Prophet, he praised the Holy Prophet in two poetic lines of his native language. The Prophet asked Hassan bin Thabit to translate it in Arabic. He translated it in words which means:
"When in the world, the virtues are described, thou art mentioned as the model of virtues in our midst."
Among the slaves from Africa, Bilal was the first to accept Islam. He had a strong faith in Allah and a great love for the Prophet. He had a pure character. Soon he earned high respect of the Prophet and other great Muslims of the time. The Prophet liked Bilal's sweet voice and made him the first Muazzin -The Caller To The Prayers.
All through his life Bilal remained a close companion of Prophet Muhammad and was with him at every occasion. When the Prophet died he was very saddened. Thereafter all his life he looked grieved and very solemn. He had gone to Madina when the Prophet had migrated. After the death of the Prophet he did not feel happy to stay in Madina. He sadly discontinued giving 'adhan' and migrated to Damascus, Syria. He died there after about eight (or ten) years. His grave is still existing in the famous Muslim graveyard in Damascus. People still go to his grave to pay respect and salute him.
Footnotes:
[1] In some books the name of his father is given as "Riyah" and of his mother as "Jumana".

Cleaningness |

<b>Cleanliness</b>
Islam places great emphasis on cleanliness, in both its physical and spiritual aspects. On the physical side, Islam requires the Muslim to clean his body, his clothes, his house, and the whole community, and he is rewarded by God for doing so. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, for example:
<b>"Removing any harm from the road is charity (that will be rewarded by Allah)</b>." (Bukhari)
While people generally consider cleanliness a desirable attribute, Islam insists on it , making it an indispensible fundamental of the faith. A muslim is required to to be pure morally and spiritually as well as physically. Through the Qur'an and Sunnah Islam requires the sincere believer to sanitize and purify his entire way of life. In the Qur'an Allah commends those who are accustomed to cleanliness:
<b>"Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean." </b>(2: 22)
In Islam the Arabic term for purity is Taharah. Books of Islamic jurisprudence often contain an entire chapter with Taharah as a heading. Allah orders the believer to be tidy in appearance:
<b> "Keep your clothes clean."</b> (74:4)
The Qur'an insists that the believer maintain a constant state of purity:
<b> "Believers! When you prepare for prayer wash your faces, and your hands (and arms) to the elbows; rub your heads (with water) and (wash) your feet up to the ankles. If you are ritually impure bathe your whole body."</b> (5: 6)
Ritual impurity refers to that resulting from sexual release, menstruation and the first forty days after childbirth. Muslims also use water, not paper or anything else to after eliminating body wastes.
Prophet Muhammad )pbuh) advised the Muslims to appear neat and tidy in private and in public. Once when returning home from battle he advised his army:
<b>"You are soon going to meet your brothers, so tidy your saddles and clothes.Be distinguished in the eyes of the people."</b> (Abu Dawud)
On another occasion he said:
<b>"Don't ever come with your hair and beard disheveled like a devil." [Al-Tirmidhi]</b>
And on another:
<b>"Had I not been afraid of overburdening my community, I would have ordered them to brush their teeth for every prayer."</b> (Bukhari)
Moral hygiene was not ignored, either, for the Prophet (pbuh) encouraged the muslims to make a special prayer upon seeing themselves in the mirror:
<b>"Allah, You have endowed me with a good form; likewise bless me with an immaculate character and forbid my face from touching the Hellfire."</b> (Ahmad)
And modesty in dress, for men as well as for women, assists one in maintaining purity of thought. Being charitable is a way of purifying one's wealth. A Muslim who does not give charity (Sadaqah) and pay the required annual Zakah, the 2.5% alms-tax, has in effect contaminated his wealth by hoarding that which rightfully belongs to others:
<b> "Of their wealth take alms so that you may purify and sanctify them." (9: 103)</b>
All the laws and injunctions given by Allah and His Prophet (pbuh) are pure; on the other hand, man-made laws suffer from the impurities of human bias and other imperfections. Thus any formal law can only be truly just when it is purified by divine guidance - as elucidated by the Qur'an and the Sunnah - or if it is divinely ordained to begin with - the Shari'ah.

<b>Isaiah 7:14 </b>
"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel."
Isaiah then goes on to write in chapter 9,
<b>1 Nevertheless the gloom will not be upon her who is distressed,</b>
As when at first He lightly esteemed
The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
And afterward more heavily oppressed her,
By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan,
In Galilee of the Gentiles.
<i>2 The people who walked in darkness </i>
Have seen a great light;
Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death,
Upon them a light has shined. 3 You have multiplied the nation
And increased its joy;[a]
They rejoice before You
According to the joy of harvest,
As men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4 For You have broken the yoke of his burden
And the staff of his shoulder,
The rod of his oppressor,
As in the day of Midian.
5 For every warrior’s sandal from the noisy battle,
And garments rolled in blood,
Will be used for burning and fuel of fire.
<i>6 For unto us a Child is born, </i>
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God
,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of His government and peace
There will beno end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Jesus is clearly called "Mighty God" in Isaiah.
