As-Salaam alaikum,

The most revolutionary statement on earth, 'LA-ILAHA IL-LALLAHU, MUHAMMADUR-RASULULLAH' discerns between the Real and the Unreal, or between the Absolute and the Relative, or between Allah and Everything other than Allah, which is the Universe.

The Kalimat-Shahada is divided into 2 halves, the negation (LA-ILAHA) and the affirmation (ILLALLAHU). The first half denies the inherent reality of the world and the self; while the second half affirms the ultimacy of the Divine Reality. The Shahada means there is no creator but Allah, none Merciful but Allah, none Knowing but Allah. In sum, it means that there is no reality but Allah Ta'ala..... and that all the so-called realities of our experience are secondary and derivative.

Says the Holy Qur'an: "Everything is perishing but His face." (28:88) Here, Allah Ta'ala did not say ''will perish'', for He wanted it known that the existence of all things is perishing in His Being today. Only those veiled from the reality of things post pone the observance of this until tomorrow. Allah's Reality is such that nothing can stand up to it, His Unique possession of all that is real and all that provides reality to others are in fact nonexistent. This is how our teachers interpret the saying of the Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, "Allah was, and nothing was with Him."

And by saying/affirming "MUHAMMAD RASULULLAH''... we say and believe that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah... he is a clear, designated manifestation of the One Real. In other words, he represents Allah Ta'ala more directly than other creatures. He and the Qur'an for which he is the vehicle are guiding lights in the darkness of unreal things.

Allah.. The Divine Sovereign !!

As-Salaam alaikum,

In ayat 23 of Surat Anbiya of the Holy Qur'an (21:23), Allah Ta'ala says:--

"La yus'alu anma yaf'alu... He cannot be questioned about what He does."

As observed by Sayyadi Ibn Arabi, may Allah be pleased with him, in his Kitab al-Jalal wa-l Jamal, this ayat/verse is connected to irresistible force, the plane of Allah's transcendent power, and the establishment of Divine Sovereignty over the world.

When these attributes become fixed in the servant's heart, it is impossible for him to seek the reason for an occurrence or to raise any objection to it.... the remaining part of the verse reads.. "wa hum yus'aluun... but they will be questioned.." Yes, we will be questioned for our acts, because as His creatures and servants, we are dependent and responsible to Allah Ta'ala... that basically we must live life on planet earth in accordance with the provisions of His Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah of His Last Messenger sent to the Universe.

Hold On To These Four Things...

To be successful in this worldly life and life in the Hereafter, get to know and firmly hold on to these 4 vital things, namely:--

(1) There is nothing that can oppose the Power of Allah, Tabaraka Wa Ta'ala.

(2) Allah Ta'ala has knowledge of everything.

(3) Allah is very tender and the Most Merciful.

(4) Allocations of Allah are good.

Contemplate the meanings of these 4 things/issues... be truthful in your turning to Allah, and do not turn to anything that does not concern you. Holding on to these 4 principles increases our himma (spiritual striving) and establish us in the station of reliance on Allah, yearning, acceptance and love of Allah and His Decrees.

Stick To Righteousness.

May I have your attention and remind you/us of Sheikh Abu'l Nasr al-Sarraj's advice that we should, at all times, establish ourselves and dedicate our efforts to:--

Distance yourself from "that which is forbidden, the major and the minor of it. Secondly, fulfill all religious obligations, the easy and

the difficult of them. The third is leaving the world (dunya) to the people of the world, the large and the small portions of it; except what

is necessary from it for the believer, which is what is narrated from the Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, that he said:

"Four things are in the dunya but not of it: a portion of food with which you satisfy your hunger; clothing that covers

your nakedness; a home that you reside in and a wife that you find repose with."

Everything else beside this- from gathering, prohibiting, clinging to, love of increase and boastfulness- all of this is a severing veil that cuts the abd (slave) off from Allah." So, take heed. Life in this world is rather short!!!

Have You Visited The Prophet?

The Leader of Mankind and Jinn and Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said:--

       "Whoever visits me without any intended purpose other than my visit,

       it is incumbent upon me to be his intercessor on the Day of Rising." [Tabarani No. 13149, Ibn Muqri in his Mu'jam pg. 80].

And the Prophet, alaihis-Salaat Was-Salaam, was also reported as saying:--

     "Whoever (makes pilgrimage then) visits me after my death, it is as if

      he visited me during my (earthly) life." [Baihaqi in his Sunan- No. 10409].

So, make that intention of/to visit him, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, at his house and Masjid in Madina al-Munawwarah.... may Allah Ta'ala afford us the chance and ability to visit His Messenger often... ameen.

As-Salaam alaikum,

May I have the pleasure of reminding you/us to always:---

(1) Be scrupulous in all our affairs. Righteousness in the deen depends on Righteousness as the great Imam, Sidi al-Hasan Basri, Rahimahullah, said: "Ascend to Allah by means of your himma (efforts) since what was going to happen has happened and what is decreed will certainly come about. By Allah, turning to creation is hidden shirk. The Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said: 'If someone devotes himself to Allah, Allah will spare him every burden and provide for him from where he does not reckon."

Prefer Allah to all things since things are by their nature transitory and vanishing. 'All things are passing except His Face'. (27:88)

(2) Keep your tongues still except in Zikrullah. The disasters of the tongue are many. A man may speak one word which he finds inconsequential, but because of it fall into the fire of Jahannam for 70 years, as is related. All words which are not Zikr are a distraction and there is no hour in which a person does not remember Allah, Tabaraka Wa Ta'ala, which will not be a regret for him on the Day of Rising, as is related.

So, beware of sitting with people of this world and socializing with except out of legal necessity. The Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said: "Do not sit with the dead or your hearts will die." He was asked: "Who are the dead, O Messenger of Allah?". He answered: "Those who love this world and desire it." And Allah, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, says:--

"So turn away from him who turns away from Our Remembrance and desires

nothing but the life of this world." (53:29)

Du'a For Easy Death.

Yes, every soul shall taste death... Death will come when it will come, undoubtedly. The other day I came across a Du'a... a Supplication from the Grand Master, Sheikh Muhiyyeddin Ibn Arabi that will facilitate easy death. I thought that I should share it with you, copy hereby attached. Make it part of your Zikr.. or part of your regular Du'a (s) sessions.. for the obvious benefits it carries.

Jabir bin 'Abdullah (May allah be pleased with him) reported:

Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was passing through the bazaar with his Companions on his both sides, when he saw a dead skinny lamb. He held its ear and said, "Who of you would like to have it for a dirham". They replied, "We do not like to get it for nothing, and what shall we do with it?". Then he (ﷺ) asked, "Would you like to have it for nothing?". They replied, "Had it been alive, it would have been defective because it is skinny; but when dead it is of no use". Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Truly, the world is more contemptible to Allah than this (the dead lamb) is to you".

Abu Dharr reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, said:

My servants, I have made oppression unlawful for Me and unlawful for you, so do not commit oppression against one another. My servants, all of you are liable to err except one whom I guide on the right path, so seek right guidance from Me so that I should direct you to the right path. O My servants, all of you are hungry (needy) except one whom I feed, so beg food from Me, so that I may give that to you. O My servants, all of you are naked (need clothes) except one whom I provide garments, so beg clothes from Me, so that I should clothe you. O My servants, you commit error night and day and I am there to pardon your sins, so beg pardon from Me so that I should grant you pardon. O My servants, you can neither do Me any harm nor can you do Me any good. O My servants, even if the first amongst you and the last amongst you and even the whole of human race of yours, and that of jinns even, become (equal in) God-conscious like the heart of a single person amongst you, nothing would add to My Power. O My servants, even if the first amongst you and the last amongst you and the whole human race of yours and that of the Jinns too in unison become the most wicked (all beating) like the heart of a single person, it would cause no loss to My Power. O My servants, even if the first amongst you and the last amongst you and the whole human race of yours and that of jinns also all stand in one plain ground and you ask Me and I confer upon every person what he asks for, it would not. in any way, cause any loss to Me (even less) than that which is caused to the ocean by dipping the needle in it. My servants, these for you I shall reward you for thern, so he who deeds of yours which I am recording finds good should praise Allah and he who does not find that should not blame anyone but his ownself. Sa'id said that when Abu Idris Khaulini narrated this hadith he knelt upon his knees (Sahih Muslim)

To be a true believer who believes with/in Allah as the Creator/Lord/Sustainer of the Universe, His Messengers, Scriptures, Angels, the Last Day and Fate/Qadar, one must be identified with the following symbols and/or attributes:---

1. True believers walk on this earth with Modesty.

2. They utilize the night for Supplications... .Prostrating/Sujd an standing in prayer(s)/Tahajjud.

3. They love Peace.

4. They are neither wasteful nor miserly in spending their wealth.

5. They do not commit adultery.

6. They avoid testifying falsely.

7. They refrain from all kinds of Vanity.

We should endeavour to work towards getting these attributes in our everyday lives... make these values/attributes our habits.

What Do You Seek?

Salaam everyone,

According to Aflaki, in his "The Whirling Ecstasy":--

"He who seeks worldly wealth cannot dispense with commerce and profit;

he who seeks that of future life cannot dispense with obedience and service;

he who seeks the Master cannot avoid tests and suffering".

And,

"Supplication takes away shame, pride drives out religion. A greedy man has

the nature of the devil. Where greed enters, there follows identification; where

identification is produced, an obstacle is created; where an obstacle is interposed,

work is interrupted; where interruption occurs, there follows infidelity and hell-fire".

Counselling Fellow Muslims On Humility.

Assalam alaikum,

O Brothers and Sisters in Islam, let us always be humble for humility is the attribute of believers. Beware of pride for Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, does not like the proud. Those who humble themselves are raised up by Allah, and those who are proud are abased by Him.

Signs of humility which we should imbibe are:--

1) A liking for obscurity.

2) Dislike of fame.

3) Acceptance of truth, be it from a lowly or noble person.

4) Loving the poor and associating with them.

5) Thanking those who fulfil their duties to you and excusing those who remiss.

And the signs of pride that we should avoid are:--

1) Praising oneself and speaking proudly.

2) Open haughtiness.

3) Arrogance.

4) Strutting.

5) Neglecting the rights of others upon you, while demanding your rights from them.

The thought which is from God is an admonition; that from an angel an urge to Obedience; that from the Self the quest of lust; from the devil the bedizenment of disobedience". -- Mind those thoughts that come over to you, and gauge them accordingly.
