my nose
#1

hi, my nose really bothers me.

I've asked my parents for a nose job, but they said that its haram. I really don't like my nose. I know its what Allah gave me, but I feel so insecure about my nose, I want to fix it, but I can't.

I look at other people's nose and get so sad because their nose is so much better than mines.

Can anyone help me with some advice?

And is a nose surgery haram??

(even when you're so depressed).

I think if I get a nose surgery, I will feel so much better, I would have so much confidence.

Please help!

Subhan Allah. How can changing the creation of Allah for the sake of human vanity make you feel better?!.Sister/brother thank Allah that you have a nose for some people do not even have one or have very deformed ones. You know while you are so bothered about your nose some people out there maybe even envy you on it ,or somebody might think it looks nice ,"[b:943d66fad7]beauty lies in the eye of the beholder"[/b:943d66fad7].

I am not trying to put you down but I don't think depression is a reason to have a plastic surgery for a normal person who had no accident nor natural deformation.Refer to this link for a detailed answer on the ruling on plastic surgery:

http://63.175.194.25/index.php?ln=eng&ds=q...e&QR=1006&dgn=3

Confidence should not be built on looks!!!.If you always keep on caring about what people will think you will not move a single step ahead. Also I just want to mention one point when you see a brother/sister who has something better remember to pray for blessing for him/her for the evil eye is real.

The prophet(pbuh)said:

"When you see a person, who has been given more than you in money and beauty; then look to those who have been given less."

asalaam alaikom,

hello thanks for replying back to me.

I would feel so guilty changing the creation of Allah, but I just feel so sad with my nose.

I do thank Allah that I have a nose because I know there are people worse than me that don't even have a nose, but my nose has been bothering me for 3 years.

I don't want to even get married because of this.

I need help.

I cry regularly about my nose, I just cried twice at night, yesterday.

What can I do??

Is it haram even when you're so depressed???

And sister, when you said that the evil eye is real, thank Allah, I'm not that kind of a person.

When I see someone with a good nose, I just smile with curiosity, I don't get jealous, however, I do get a little sad.

Sometimes I think of dying.

Not that I think of commiting suicide, because I know its haram, but I feel so uncomfortable, that I would think about.... I don't even have the words to explain it.

Please help.

P.S. I wouldn't ever want to pluck my eyebrows and I tell other people that they shouldn't because its haram, but this problem, its different.

There is no need for you to worry about your nose. Alhamdolliah for everything. I am quite sure by worrying so much about your nose ,you are forgetting that you have many other beatiful traits and some may even be distinguished ones.Let me suggest something for you the time you spend on crying and worrying why not use it to read quran and learn a few verses(reading Quran and understanding it is beautiful) ,pray ,make Duaa' ,read a useful islamic book, also by doing this inshallah you will be rewarded. Don't let your worry about your nose abstain from marriage if you get good proposals for marriage in the light of islam is beautiful.

Furthemore I quote:

Quote:And sister, when you said that the evil eye is real, thank Allah, I'm not that kind of a person. [/quote:72ae650c04]This applies to all people, in a hadith the prophet(pbuh)said:

"[b:72ae650c04]The evil eye is real, and if anything were to overtake the divine decree would be the evil eye[/b:72ae650c04]" Narrated by Mslim

An evil eye does not always have to come from a jealous person but it can from a person who likes something. And also the person can harm him/herself sometimes.

In a hadith it says:

"[b:72ae650c04]Whoever among you sees something in himself or in his possessions or in his brother that he likes, let him pray for blessing for it, because the evil eye is real[/b:72ae650c04]"

<blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="299" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Sometimes I think of dying[/quote:72ae650c04]Many people think of death as a mean to get rid of the troubles and worries of this life.Forgetting that death can be really harsh right from taking out of the soul to the grave punishment(نسال الله السلامة و العافية لنا و لكم).And a person does not have the right to even wish to die for this is something that only Allah can will.

<blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="299" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I wouldn't ever want to pluck my eyebrows and I tell other people that they shouldn't because its haram[/quote:72ae650c04]Al-hamdolliah may Allah help you and me to enjoin all that is good and to forbid what is bad.

But sister if your nose is really depressin you and for such a long time (3 whole years), then here is an email address you can write to which will give you the opinion on haram or halal.

Assalaamoalaikum

sister What Amira has said is true. And I think that we should be satisfied by what Allah has given us. Yes there are many things which we would like to change about us. We all are not perfect. And beauty is not forever anyway, and I think that we should not keep beauty as a yard stick, rather the inner self. The inner beauty is important.

I do not know if that post made you feel any better. And Do understand you feeling sis

May Allah help us All.

But this is the fatwa I read at Islam qa

Question:

Is it permissible for a person to have nose reduction surgery, because he is being exposed to ridicule and he cannot bear it?

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked about this and he replied:

I do not know of any reservations or any reason why this should be haraam, if it is possible to do it.

Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz

Browing the site, thought this thread is an important one. It also brought back memories about our dear member Amirah and Ali. I pray that both are well and doing fine, growing more close to Allah, learning more and being better Muslims.

Want a non-muslim opinion?

How you feel about your looks isn't about how you see yourself, its about how you think others see you. If anyone else thinks there's something wrong with your nose, then thats their problem. Missing out on your friendship is their loss, not yours, and if they're the sort of people that judge the value of your friendship on how you look, rather than the content of your heart, then your better off without them.

You may be able to change your nose, but they can't change the meanness of their soul.
