Qur'anic verse of deep interest to me

Do you know how when you pray really hard and seriously to God about something that is vital to your faith God answers with a dream? When I was first seeking God I prayed very hard to understand who He was. I mean, all I knew is that there was some angry guy up in the clouds that wanted to send me to hell for the least infraction of the rules! I needed some serious answers before I could even begin to believe in someone like that. (gladly I was proven wrong about the whole Angry God idea...)

Anyway, moments after desparately praying I had a dream and in the very beginning I looked up at the sky and saw a beutiful golden essence coming down from heaven. Then it split in two and disapeared. I have forever been confused about this because no one has been able to answer my questions about "What was that and what did it mean?"

The other night I was reading the English translation of the meaning of the Qu'ran and I came upon this verse:

"O mankind! We created you from a single soul, male and female, and made you into nations and tribes so that you may come to know one another..." (49:13

My heart stopped and my blood ran cold through my veins. Do any of you know if my dream matches what is being said here?

Mash a Allah I need to make some clarifications here before Insh aAllah I seek Allah's close guidance and try to interpret.

Here u mean by essence a smell or a ray a golden one. and when it was coming down was it coming to your direction, and before it split, did it reach anywhere on earth or just disappeared in the air.?? waiting impatiently for your clarifications:)

I will attempt to explain the dream in better detail - though words hardly do justice!

I was looking up at a perfectly clear blue sky. I saw something that looked like a brilliant golden ball of light - the "essence". It fell a little way and then, while still up in the sky, it split into two halves. One went one way, the other went the other way, apart from one another. I was told that those were the souls of man and woman and that we were meant to find one another and become one soul again - one soul for God.

Does this make any sense? Every single Christian or Catholic person (even Priests) that I have asked told me that it meant nothing and I must ignore it.

Matter of fact Michelle what u saw is exactly what happened 1400 years ago which is the revealation of Quran to mankind. Quran is certainly a gloden light that illuminated the way of mankind east and west. Allah Sobhanhu wa ta`ala sent it down on Mohamed prayer and peace be upon him to be spread throughout earth directions. This is exactly what u saw. While it could also take the other interpretation u were told about. Of the soul which split into two and spread around earth.

In my dream the golden light did split up and go exactly East and West.
