As Salaamu Waalaikum
When Allah ( Subhan Allah Wa Ta'ala) use to send trial upon the Salaf ( Radi'allah anhum) they use to give thanks to Allah( Subhan Allah Wa Ta'ala) for three good reasons:
1. They was thankful that the trial wasn't with their deen meaning he willed for them to stay tranquil and upon the Siratal Musta-qeem (Al-humduillah)
2.That Allah ( Subhan Allah Wa Ta'ala) Didn't make the trial greater than what it could have been
Example:
Your walking down the street and you loose $100.00 dollars masha'allah but al-humduillah be grateful it wasn't more!
3.That Allah ( Subhan Allah Wa Ta'ala) bestowed is favours upon them and aloud them to have Subur (patience) through their trial
So this is proof from those before us that when Allah ( Subhan Allah Wa Ta'ala) sends trial upon you be happy and content because when Allah (Subhan Allah Wa Ta'ala) wants good for his servants he test them and if you are a TRUE believer you will be please with your lord
May Allah( Subhan Allah Wa Ta'ala) give us all Taufiq and keep us upon the Siratal Musta-qeem Ameen :D
