A Portrait Made Of Our Prophet :(

Alsalam 'Alaykom brothers and sisters,


It seems that instead of many efforts we do not to let any1 portrait our beloved prophet, I found this site while i was searching for islamic pictures, which describes the life of the prophet in brief, and a portrait of him done by that person who owns the site,


and he wrote :

Which style was generally accepted in the time of Muhammad? Well, Muhammad personally banned all images of humans or animals: “Those who make these images will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and they will be told: ‘Give life to what you have made!’” (hadith narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar; al-Bukhari, volume 7, book 72, no. 835)


And still he made a portrait. I already sent him an email to remove it, please do the same, and if any of u can do more please do it to defend our prophet .

I can see this guy just ignoring us because reconstructing photos is the main purpose of the site. Removing the portrait would make all the other information invalid, thus Muhammad would not be discussed on the site.


I totally agree with what everyone has said. Please bear this in mind since I have had my comments only skimmed at times and people jumping to conclusions. I am only being realistic in our endeavor. He probably will not take the picture down. I will still send him a comment though. Remember that it is our duty to warn and call people to the correct path. If they want to continue in their sin, then it will be between them and Allah on the Day of Judgement.

Such disgrace does take place nowadays unfortunately, what we are not aware of is more. Maybe we shouldn't view the picture? I am not worried about that picture, because we all know that its a fake-fabricated picture right.


With all due respect Abu-nuran & radiya, I personally truly do not believe that he'll respect our wishes, of course I might be wrong but c'mon lets face it fellow muslims If he cared a hairs weight what muslims think and believe he would not have placed that fabricated picture on his website in the first place. So what should make me think, that through a few few emails I send him, will make him feel any different then he already does ? Sorry to sound so pessimistic.


InshaALLah if the emails you send will eventually will make a difference ~by Allahs wonders~ pleace let me know, you'll be in my prayers.

Brother Dan and sister Senorita, It's not about if he will respect our wishes or not, if he will take it off or not. I know the description of the Prophet (SAAWS) and that picture has no resemblance of him what so ever, for example: His (SAAWS) beard was longer and reaches beyond his (SAAWS) chest, also his hair was long beyond his shoulders, I will not describe his (SAAWS) face but It was also different.


As I said it's not about what we want or wish, it is about this:


Sahih Muslim.


Book 1. Faith.


Book 001, Hadith Number 0079.

Chapter : Concerning the facts that Interdiction against abominable is a part of Faith, that Faith increases and diminishes; enjoining that which is good and for bidding that which is abominable are obligatory(acts).


It is narrated on the authority of Tariq b. Shihab: It was Marwan who initiated (the practice) of delivering khutbah (address) before the prayer on the 'Id day. A man stood up and said: Prayer should precede khutbah. He (Marwan) remarked, This (practice) has been done away with. Upon this Abu Sa'id remarked: <b>This man has performed (his duty) laid on him</b>. I heard the Messenger of Allah as saying: He who amongst you sees something abominable should modify it with the help of his hand; and if he has not strength enough to do it, then he should do it with his tongue, and if he has not strength enough to do it, (even) then he should (abhor it) from his heart, and that is the least of faith.



It's about performing your duties as soon as you see something abominable. It's an obligation on you to obey the Prophet (SAAWS) order and try to do something about it.


As you can see there are different ways to do that and every way is a different level of Iman and strength.


The Prophet (SAAWS) knew that there are different types of people and their level of Faith (Iman) and strength is different, so he gave the 3 choices to which they can act upon, but after that there is no Faith (Iman), meaning that once you knew about something abominable and you choose not to do anything about it, not even hate it in your heart then there is no Iman within you what so ever.


In the Hadith, Marwan (a Muslim) preformed something different than the Prophet (SAAWS) used to do which is considered beda', as you can see there were other people there but only one man stood up and denounced it (I am sure that others hatted it within there hearts), by doing so he followed the Hadith and performed his duties. He didn't care if Marwan continued with his beda' or not, all he cared about is to denounce it by one of the 3 choices so that when he will be asked on judgment day why didn't he do something about it when he had the chance (and Allah (SWT) knows that he did) he will say: Ya Allah, I did and tried to stop it, and he will be rewarded for doing so.


Insh'a Allah we will all have some Iman within our hearts, Ameen.

I am really disappointed sister senorita, is this the love u have for your prophet, is this how u should defend him, if everybody thought the way u did then for sure he will not care to move it, but if each one of us protested and each told his friends and relatives, then for sure we can do something. And even if he didn't, as brother abu noran said, we will be asked, even our beloved prophet will ask us why u did not defend me. I hope u will change your mind sister and join us on this and send him an email too,


u never know what will happen.

Jazak Allah Brother for the reminder. To clarify though, I did not say that would should not do anything. I was just pointing out that we should not be surprised if the guy does not respond considering the whole point of his website is to portray people who have no known portraits. I believe that I fulfilled my duty to Allah in terms of this situation. Remember that in my previous post I did state:

Being the author of the site that contains the image mentioned, I'd like to thank those of you who sent me an email on the topic. One of you gave me the address of this BB and I read the other comments. Please give me the opportunity to clarify, so kindly consider the following:


1. The portrait wasn't made to offend or harm anyone. I do highly respect Islam, because it contains great wisdom. But please understand I'm not a Muslim. I'm not a religious man at all, though I do respect those who truly believe in God, each in his or her own way.


2. Those who belief that it's forbidden or inappropriate to depict the prophet can remain loyal to their faith by disregarding the image altogether. Others may not share these beliefs though. The image isn't forced on anyone and there's no obligation to accept it as an authentic portrait. Likewise, one who chooses to do so shouldn't be denied the opportunity to examine and appreciate the image.


3. The site has no religious goal. Its purpose is to reconstruct portraits of historic personalities. The images and texts ought to be culturally neutral, though I understand that's not really possible since I'm only human.


To those of you who might have felt offended by the image, I offer my apologies. Now I am even more aware of the sensitivity of the subject, I added a clear warning and statement to the page with the image. Those Muslims who accidentally come across the page, are now advised to completely ignore the image.


I do care about the beliefs of Muslims, but still I have to stay true to my own opinion. To me the image is quite harmless, as it was made neither for worship, nor for insult. Of course, many Muslims won't agree. I understand.


If you believe it's an expression of faith to defend your beloved prophet, you've obviously fulfilled your duty in this matter and I guess it will be appreciated at the end of times.
