Was Napoleon A Muslim?
#11

Bismillah

Assalamu'alaikum,

This topic reminds me something. Years ago, I heard some famous people converted to Islam. One of them was Michael Jackson. Many people was surprised here, some showed very happy expression. WOW..they said

Me...? I just took it as something usual. My friend asked me why I just gave dry expression about it. I said: MJ converts to islam. So what? that's good for him if it's true. Just let's see.

Now I can see (from media) How MJ is. I say to myself, Alhamdulillah I didn't feel happy for him at that time.

For me no matter who it is, if someone becomes a muslim (not only words but also in action), insyaAllah I will love him/her as my sis/bro in the name of Allah SWT.

I will be happy for him/her.

I just can see what I can see with my own eyes. For something that I can't see, I leave it fully to Allah alone.

I think it's more important for muslim to learn more about Islam and try to be a good muslim by following the path of Rasulullah shallallahu alahi wa salam and spread Islam through out the world then just being "WOW" to hear about famous people who converts to Islam.

It's useless if we think or try hard to find whether this one is muslim or not while we, ourselves, do not try to be a good muslim.

You care about the leak on your neighbor roof but you don't care the leak on your own roof.

You are right sister, we should behave as true muslims to revive the sunnah of prophet Muhammad and our relegion. [Image: cool.gif] but u know it would be nice information if it is true and u will gain more knowledge in history, which is one way of being a true muslim, education from all aspects. I think what the sister is saying (forgive me if I am incorrect, just roll your eyes. [Image: wink.gif] ) is that some muslims look to famous people being muslims as a way of validating the religion. I have seen this from some brothers who I know. I think that we can all agree that this is not proper. Once again, petitedija, if I am mistaken then let me know. Never mind. I KNOW that you will.

Okay posting with this new format is weird.

Um, anyway, Dan I have to agree with you and petitedija on this one. If Napoleon was a Muslim, so what? The Way of the Lord should not need celebrity endorsement to make it more attractive. Also, this sort of thinking is a double-edged sword. You can take a famous and respected person (Napoleon may or may not be considered "respected") and argue that they are Muslim and therefore Islam is special, but:

first, it misses the point that God does not need people to approve of his decrees

second, what will you say when someone selects a reprehensible Muslim and says "This person believes in Islam, therefore Islam must be terrible"?

This isn't an attack on the OP, but I sometimes think Muslims are really insecure about their faith or are constantly trying to justify it to the more-powerful West, and the article posted here feels like just that.

That's correct brother Dan. Jazakallahu for your explanation.

Yes, my dear sister. You are right.

We can learn a lot from history. But the problem is what kind of history do we study? History about Rasulullah shallallahualaihi wa salam, shahaba, tabiin, tabiut tabiin radhiyallahuma ajmaiin, it's something we should know about.

History about previous ummah like Aad, Tsamud, people around prophet Luth alaihisalam, we can take many lesson from them.

Those stories are trustfull, because some of them are in the Quran. And we know how is the way of hadits from Rasulullah shallallahualaihi wa salam and shahaba.

What about the history of Napoleon? I'm sure we all know the answer.

I believe the king Najasy was muslim, cos Rasulullah shallallahualaihi wa salam said so.

Who can give guarantee about Napoleon?

As one of the shahaba said (i forget who was he), more or less insyaAllah like this (i just take the point): "when Rasulullah shallallahualaihi wa salam was still alive, we knew what was wrong or right directly, cos when we were not sure about something, we could directly ask to him. But now he is not among us. We just judge(?) someone from what comes out from his/her mouth, and we see what we can see from his/her action."

This world is full of things we should learn about. But at the same time it's better for us to choose what we want to learn about. Of course we should choose what is good for our deen.

I'm sorry if my words are not clear, cos arabic and english are not my language, even french. I'm still learning.

Subhanallahu wallahu'alam.

Bismillah,

Assalamu'alaikum,

My language is so simple, no tenses, no conjugation of verbs, etc.

So it's difficult enough for me to learn international languages.

I'm from Indonesia, bro. [Image: rolleyes.gif] actually i want to keep it as a secret. [Image: huh.gif]

Me thinks that the secret is out. Why would you want to keep that a secret?

I think a language would be difficult without verb tenses and what not. Our native tongue always seems to be the easiest one. Well... Actually, I think Spanish is easier than English.

Now I know that you are just sticking in eyerolls for no reason. [Image: dry.gif]
