Islam Around The World!!! Give Your Contribution

Here in SA we are also free to wear what we want. But alot of the muslims are now trying to wear the hijab. In the past the woman just wore the long dress with the pants but now they are wearing the abayas and hijabs There the youngsters that still wear the jeans with long tops and have their hair covered so it is pretty flexible.

Sham

You know what sis, So far 3 South Africans have approached me In the college campus, 2 of them were asian, all of them asked me If I was a christian, I just don't get it. I am a hijabi all covered up and people mistake me for a Christian? [Image: rolleyes.gif]I just wonder why they thought I was a christian? The fact that they happened to come from SA made me wonder if maybe in S-A christian women wear hijabs maybe? Like I said I just don't know. But I found it a bit Odd. Just thought to share this with ya.

at first it left me all in amazement but after the second time and a third person came along to ask me the same questions, I begin finding it all amusing lol.

Bismillah

As salam alaikum

My brother brother and I were watching a movie that was in a medieval type of setting. I said, "Why are all the women wearing hijabs?"

All of the women had thier heads convered. Then I said, "Oh yeah, this must have been in a time when people were still practicing modesty."

Alhamdulillah, you get to make a little dawah to those who ask you if you are christian. Obviously they don't know about Islam too much so it is good exposure. Jazaki Allah

As salam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu

It is strange why these people asked you if you were christian. I guess they just did not want to take things for granted and assume that you were muslim. Or maybe they have visited other countries were the christian people also wore hijab. Most North African countries were the hijabs even if they are not muslims. It is just their dress code which is very traditional and it is very similar to our hijabs. LOL Here in South Africa you can certainly tell the difference between the christians and the muslims. Even when some of the muslims try to hide their identity by wearing western clothing you can some how tell if they are muslim or not. Strange but true.
