in my country there are 2 major parties... one of these two always win elections...

i just stopped votting

anyone care to advise me on this decision
Yes, you have no just impowered those two parties even futher. Good job! By adding to the apathy that has engulfed others, you have done nothing but increase the stronghold those parties have. Why not be an active supporter of the party you want, and push for others to understand why that party is trhe best choice?

Man phat you aint easy... Lsn think of it like this... you have 2 parties two of whom are known to be corrupt... this is evident in my country....

HOW CAN I AS A MUSLIM CONTRIBUTE TO PUTTING ONE OF THESE IN POWER....

THINK MAN THINK.........[Image: rolleyes.gif] hehe

lsn.... i am not going to be a contributor to such corruption... not in my country not anywhere... how could i do this and still have a clear conscience...

NO WAY...

I will not go as far as i know some muslims have gone and actually call this haraam simply because i dont know...

but anyways look back at your post and think it through...

you claim that i approach this situation with apathy... i have apathy towards both parties.... but look within yourself....

You just effectively chose a party just for the hell of it... just like that....

phat you are apathetic towards your choice.....

do you not value your choice...

do you not see that your choice WILL affect you in the future...

again phat....

THINK

THINK

THINK

dont just post things for the hell of it....

allah says in the quraan

"oh you who believe. why do you say that which you do not do...

it is the most hated thing in the sight of allah that you say that which you do not do"

dont accuse of being apathetic when you yourself is apathetic....

now about the 2 party thing....

tell me

if i dont vote... for these reasons....

and i have not revealed this to anyone locally...

how is this empowering any party...

there are alot of ppl in my country who have taken this stance not only muslims...

who knows... if everyone does this... there may be a push for some sort of constitutional reform... which is actually underway by the opposition leader....

who knows maybe this may lead to some more islamic form of government....

but why vote if all you are doing is putting ppl in power who have been known to cause corruption...

this is madness

this may be a little different from what you believe phat but I AM NOT APATHETIC towards my choices... as you are and have perfectly displayed in your post......

in conclusion

think man think...

Naseeha - relax, you are being rude.

You said there were two Major parties. You didn't say there were ONLY TWO parties.

If there are other parties, no matter how futile it seems, it is yoru duty as a good citizen to help those smaller parties, even if they seem to have no chance of winning.

Don't let apathy overcome you. I am thinking, hence the reason I am able to read your words and am not jumping to a conclusion. If there are only two parties total, then you should say that.

What is the point of supporting a smaller party in a system which is totally corrupt? Why not work to change the system totally?

Yes, absolutely.

We will be questioned about whom we took as our leaders. How many leaders today are addressing the needs and concerns of our sisters and brothers globally???

And we do have a duty in Islam to be good citizens, how can we best do this? I think by just being the best Muslim you can be. The change will come insha Allah with the spread of Islam.

Well I must be naive, for I assumed that there must be atleast ONE small party that you can support.

You see, many people simply vote for a larger party becasue they think they are throwing away their vote on a smaller one. I stress that if you can find even the smallest of groups to support, you do it. That's all I was getting at.

You don't want to know what I think of politics as a whole - I'll fill 10 pages [Image: wink.gif] However, I'm happy to talk about any specific subjects anyone has on their mind.
