1. THE MEN & WOMEN AROUND THE PROPHET (saw) - Kitab Al Fada'il Al-Sahabah
The Sahaabah were the companions of Prophet (saw). They are the source of
our knowledge, inspiration and guidance for all Muslims anytime.
In Surah Al-Tawba verse 100 of the Qur'an Allah swt says: The vanguard (of
Islam)- the first of those who forsook (their homes) and of those who gave
them aid, and (also) those who follow them in (all) good deeds,-
well-pleased is Allah with them, as are they with Him: for them hath He
prepared gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein for ever: that is
the supreme felicity.
Abu Sa'id (ra), reported: Allah's Messenger (saw) said: None should revile
my Companions, for if one among you were to spend as much gold as Uhud, it
would not amount to as much as one mud of one of them or half of it. [
Hadith number in Sahih Muslim: 4611 ]
Who were these 'Men' & 'Women' around the Prophet (saw) ? What was so
special about them ? What did they do ? Can we relate to them ? Is it
possible to reach their status ?

4. THE ETIQUETTES OF SEEKING KNOWLEDGE
There is a certain amount of etiquette for seeking knowledge which the
seeker of knowledge should follow. To adorn oneself with beautiful
etiquette, noble manners, good behavior and pious conduct are distinguishing
characteristics of the people of Islaam, and knowledge - the most precious
pearl in the crown cannot be attained except by those who adorn themselves
with its etiquette and those who leave evil qualities associated to it. For
this reason the scholars devoted their attention to this etiquette,
outlined its importance and wrote books solely on this topic;
either pertaining to [general conduct] with all types of knowledge or to
specific types
of knowledge such as the etiquette of the carriers of the Noble Quran, the
etiquette of the
muhaddith, the etiquette of the muftee, the etiquette of the qaadee (judge),
the etiquette of the muhtasib (the one who enjoins good and forbids evil for
the sake of Allaah) and so on.

The blessed Prophet (peace be upon him) mentioned that 'The believer who
recites the Qur'an and applies it is like the utrujja (fruit), whose smell
is fragrant and taste is sweet .' (Bukhari)
Utrujj is based upon the teachings of the above Hadith in seeking to equip
you with the sacred knowledge of Islam, while simultaneously training you in
it's implementation in your daily lives. As a result of this dynamic
approach your personality should insh'Allah come to personify this sacred
knowledge.
The change this creates will be witnessed by those around you as they smell
the sweet fragrance of your good speech and taste the sweetness of your
exemplary actions. Such a change within individuals is critical in realising
our covenant with Allah and for the spreading of Islam, especially here in
the West.
