Lessons deduced
#31

On the authority of Abu Juhaim (may Allah be pleased with him) who reported that the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had said:

If a man passes in front of the Worshiper when he is engaged in prayer, he realizes the enormity of its sins, it would be forty (times) better for him to wait than tops in front of him.

(Agreed upon)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lessons Deduced:

- It is forbidden to walk in front of a person who is performing Prayer. If one is praying in a mosque, it is forbidden for anybody to pass between the praying person and the place of his prostration.

- In places other than the mosque, if the praying person has a cover in front of him, like a stick or a line drawn in the ground, it is forbidden to pass between him and the cover, provided that the distance is not more than one meter and a half.

- This rule applies to a person who performs whether optional or obligatory Prayer.

On the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) who reported the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) saying:

The wind is the mercy of Allah. Sometimes it brings His mercy and sometime it brings His chastisement. When you experience it, do not abuse it but beg Allah its good; and seek Allah's refuge against its evil.

(Reported by Abu Dawud)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lessons Deduced:

- It is disapproved to curse wind or any natural phenomenon for it is moved only by the command of Allah the Almighty.

- It is recommended to pray to Allah and seek refuge with Him when seeing any frightening phenomenon.

- It is recommended to mention the supplication narrated from the Prophet when the wind blows.

- A Muslim's manner does not allow him to curse and damn anyone or anything.

On the authority of Masruq (may Allah be pleased with him) who reported: We visited `Abdullah bin Mas`ud and he said to us:

O people! That who has knowledge of any matter may convey it to others. And that who has not knowledge of it, should say: Allah knows best. It is a sign of knowledge that a man who has no knowledge of a matter should say: Allah knows best. Allah said to His Messenger (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): Say: No reward do I ask of you for (Qur'an), nor am I a Pretender.

(Reported by Al-Bukhari)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lessons Deduced:

- This hadith warns against overdoing in asking about anything. One should not say or give a legal judgment unless he is sure of the answer.

- It does not detract from a knowledgeable person to be ignorant of some matters, and he should not be afraid to declare his lack of knowledge about that particular question.

- One should follow the example of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and avoid excess altogether.

On the authority of `Abdullah bin Mas`ud (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:

Allah's Messenger (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) cursed that who accepts usurious interest, the one who pays it, those who record it, and those who stand witness to it.

(Reported by Muslim)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lessons Deduced:

- Usury is grievously prohibited, because if the writer of the contract and the witness are cursed, then the giver and taker will be subject to greater condemnation.

On the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) who narrated that the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had said:

During the night journey (Mi`raj), I saw a group of people who were scratching their chests and faces with their copper nails. I asked, who are these peoples, Gabriel replied that these are the people who eat the flesh of each other (by backbiting) and slander them.

(Reported by Abu Dawud)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lessons Deduced:

- This hadith gives a grave warning against backbiting. The backbiter is like the one who eats the flesh of people.

On the authority of Ibn `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) who reported that the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

Do not indulge in superfluous talk except the remembrance of Allah because much talk without the remembrance of Allah hardens the heart and those will be the farthest from Allah whose hearts are hard.

(Reported by Al-Tirmidhi) (<b>Hadith Dae'f
</b>
) (<b>Weak Hadith
</b>
)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lessons Deduced:

- A Muslim should restrain his tongue and talk about things that only lead to Allah's satisfaction. One should also guard his genitals against committing what is prohibited.

Al-Nu`man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had said:

The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion and sympathy are like the body. If one of the organs is afflicted, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever.

(Agreed upon)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lessons Deduced:

- The hadith urges the Muslims to retain mutual love, kindness, cordiality, and sympathy among the society for these attributes unify the Muslims’ feelings whether happy or sad.

- The hadith aggrandizes the value of fulfilling the common rights among the Muslims and exhorts them to be merciful with one another.

On the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) who reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying:

That the bondsman would utter the word thoughtlessly that he will fall down into the fire of Hell farther than the distance between the East and the West.

(Agreed upon)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lessons Deduced:

- A Muslim will achieve high levels in Paradise if he speaks with goodness and keep away from vicious talk as it leads to Hellfire.

On the authority of `Uthman bin `Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) who reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying:

When the time for a prayer is established and a Muslim performs ablution properly, and after he bows down and prostrates himself in prayer with humility, it will be an expiation for his past sins, as long as he has not committed great sins, and this is forever.

(Reported by Muslim)

________________________________________

Lessons deduced:

- One should take interest in performing the five stated prayers, performing ablution well, submitting during their performance and taking enough time in bowing down and in prostration so that they accepted by Allah. In this way prayers expiate minor sins.
