How Do I Deal With These Ppl
#1

As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah!!!!

HEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPP!!!!!!!!!

Brothers and sisters... I was appointed amir of this group... we have to run a course on da'wah... we have little time with which to work... (8 weeks) once a week on a saturday after zuhr..

anyways.. our syllabus will focus mainly on the way that rasulallah gave da'wah... and how we are to apply that today....

here's the problem... our group is a part of a larger group and this group is telling us that they would like us to be innovative... and come up with different and innovative methods of giving da'wah... they want us to give methods that are more adapted to <i>"modern times"</i> .... but when hearing this all that i could think was....

"Isn't the prophet's methods of giving da'wah good enough? why do we need to invent our own methods" subhanallah.....

another thing is this.... this larger group wants us to focus more on technique... and they would prefer that we include topics like "public speaking" etc.... the problem with this is that i dont want this da'wah course to end up being a 8 week public speaking course....

i would really like this course to focus on the way of the prophets... this way has worked for sooo much years why is it that we need to change them....

my brothers and sisters.. da' wah is the work of the prophets... the best of mankind..... who are we to say that their methods are not good enough for todays world..

as the amir i made it clear.... i would only authorise things that are in accordance with the quraan, sunnah, consensus of uluma...etc... if they wanted to invent their own ways then i will not allow it.. and if they dont like that then they can remove me as amir.....

please brothers and sisters.. i am not saying that we should not use modern mediums of giving da'wah... eg:television, websites, radio etc.... but shouldnt our TECHNIQUE of giving da'wah be in accordance with our beloved rasuul....

shouldnt we base such a short couse on what HE has thought us as opposed to teaching our own theories.....

my reason for this post is to gain advice...

what do you think i should do??

should i listen to these ppl

or should i follow this trend that i have alreadu set out on....

please reply......

as salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh

as salam alykom

i see no contradiction naseeha between what they want and what u want

u may apply the methodology of Rasul Allah (which is the best of course) in terms of manner and approach using the modern techniques.

do u get what I want to say?

we can not say for ex. that u must call someone to make a special lecture on something (within the frame work of sunnah of course) however, u may download the lecture

Allah granted us these facilities to use

today we can not continue using camles to go to Haj, we use aeroplanes

right:)

so apply the methodology using modern techinques

Insh aAllah may Allah grant u success

As Salam Alykom naseeha

Now if we look with a little in depth into the issue, let us tackle how did the Messenger of Allah sallah Allah a`alyhee wa sallam made dawa`.

He was commanded by Allah to follow certain stages.

The first stage was to give dawa secretly to his household members as in:

(Quran 26:214-215)

"And admonish thy nearest kinsmen,

215. And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee."

As he sallah Allah a`alyhee wa sallam did with his righteous wife, his cousin Ali, his uncle Abi Taleb and so forth.

Then Allah took him to the next stage of calling publicly which was enjoined by the ayah:

(Quran 15:94-99)

"Therefore expound openly what thou art commanded, and turn away from those who join false gods with Allah.

95. For sufficient are We unto thee against those who scoff,-

96. Those who adopt, with Allah, another god: but soon will they come to know.

97. We do indeed know how thy heart is distressed at what they say.

98. But celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and be of those who prostrate themselves in adoration.

99. And serve thy Lord until there come unto thee the Hour that is Certain"

But just ponder on the result he must expect from the public call, that he might be subject to mocking, however, Allah shall protect him against this, then assured him that Allah understands how his chest becomes tight (upset and distressed) due to what they say, Allah did not leave him alone, he gave him the remedy for this which is to praise Allah (make tasbeeh) and sujud plus worshiping Allah.

How did he go with the public call, what means did he follow?

The first time, he went to Ka`ba, climbed over a small mountain, called the people to gather, explained to them that he is the Messenger.

From that we may say: public speeches, lectures, conventions and the like are the valid means today.

After a delegation from Medinah came to meet him and took the smaller Bay`a (agreement with him on Islam and providing protection), he sent them Mosa`ab Ibn Ormayr to teach them their religion. He specifically chose Mosa`ab for his knowledge in Quran and the religion.

From this we say that messengers may be sent to different countries to undertake the dawa. But taking the selection criteria in consideration.

Now Alhamdulelah, Internet suffices in this regard. You don’t have to leave and go to people. It is enough to publish the material and ask Allah to accept and bring people to read.

The conclusion:

If we apply the Messenger’s methods today, of course we passed the secret dawa stage, we are in the public stage.

So we may use all of the above mentioned methods.

This is only my humble opinion wallahu a`alam

Whatever is correct is from Allah and whatever is wrong is from me and shaytan

Muslimah... Sorry for not answering earlier but i just came back from a three day camping trip to the beach.... Our jamaat needed to get away from the craziness that has been taking place in our country for the past few days...

Anyways... I fully understand what you are saying... and you must understand that I am not saying that using the internet or television or any technology, is not wrong....

I read that Sheikh bin baaz also agreed with this...

What i am saying is that the WAY in which the rasul called to allah should remain the same... The rasul(salallahu a'laihi wa salam) called people to islam by telling them to worship allah, take for example when he instructed his sahaabah Muadh Ibn Jabal to Yemen... He(salallahu a'laihi wa salam) told Muadh to teach the people about allah... and then when they know about allah to teach them about Salaah....

Notice that he didnt tell them to go out there and give islam Good PR.... I mean these ppl focus alot on events that are happening around the world today... and they then use that as their methodology.... Is this how our beloved Rasul (salallahu a'laihi wa salam) did it...

My dear Muslimah... the thing is that I am REALLLLLYY SCARED:eek:

I am afraid to go out and teach the wrong thing... if i do that What would i tell Allah... on a day when i would have to answer for my every answers... I hope you understand... and i look forward to your reply... insha allah

i am going to check my pms now

see ya

as salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh muslimah....

O now u sort of clarified matters a bit. No I fully understand. Dawa`a is to Allah, then teach prayer, its importance, teach people to connect with Allah by doing Dhikr, sunnah in every aspect, manners and human interrelation.

Ok now we are sort of communicating.

any way, I think my pms Insh aAllah will explain.

Insh aAllah u seek Allah's help and discuss with them nicely, develop the curriculum and Allah may help us and u akhi
