Living amongst the Kuffaar
#31

Jazak Allah khairn you two for your input. Just as I respect you both as you are Muslim and I am sure doing the best to your ability, I hope you will extend the same curtosey to me. I believe that we should respect each others differences as well as similiarities. After all nobody is right 100% of the time, as nobody can be wrong 100% of the time.

You might see something you do not like in a sister or brother, but find something else that you will appreciate about him or her. I love you both for the sake of Allah and am happy we had this conversation. Take care both of you.

Salamu 'alaikum everybody and wish you spent a happy Eid!!

I am sorry for this delay, I was enjoying Eid with my family and I don't have the internet at home.

Thank you sister Muslimah, sister Jennifer and brother Todd!!

What I would like to tell you sister Umm habibah is that I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT I SAID IN THIS MATTER in front of our Beloved Allah swt in the day of judgement. In that day you will know if living in the land of non-believers is halal or haram according the rules stated. BUT we could set this case now by asking a scholar. I suggest the website: Islam-online.net. There you could ask the question and get the answer whithin ten days. You can of coure ask another scholar and thus set this matter.

And of course I will repeat again WHO SHALL MAKE DA'WAH AND SPREAD THE WORD OF TRUTH IN THE WEST IF ALL MUSLIMS LEAVE THE WEST???

Islam is a great religion and very easy to understand and practice but people who make it complicated.

May Allah guide us all to his eternal light!!

Salam

Your sister Ahlam

Just because someone isn't Muslim doesn't mean they are evil and out to get you.

I'm Christian and I love God and I try my best to live up to God's expectations. But I am a "Kuffaar" right? If you lived nextdoor to me I highly doubt you would be torn to shreds by my evil western influences. For every modest Muslim woman there is an equally modest Christian woman. What you see on TV or in Movies or in magazines and what you hear in music is not "The West". It is but a tiny slice of a gigantic pie. When I hear people complain of the evils of "Western influence" it really bugs me. First of all, not everything in the West is immodest and anti-God. Second of all, if you get involved in immodest clothes, nasty movies, drinking and dancing at clubs then you have only yourself to blame. We "Kaffaar" didn't do it to you, you did it to yourself!

People need to open their eyes regarding "The West" and realize that there is more then meets the eye. Turn off the TV, stop watching the Holiwood movies, don't listen to the nasty pop and rock music, and throw away the trashy magazines and take a real hard look at the REAL West: the good God-loving people that make up the majority rather then the sex-soaked people that make up the minority.

If you allow nasty television shows, movies, music, and magazines into your home then YOU are to blame. Not the West. If non-Western countries didn't allow the trashy stuff to come into their countries in the first place then they wouldn't have that kind of stuff in their own homes. The "Kaffaar" is a tidy blanket term used to blame everyone for the evil of a few. We aren't waiting around in the bushes with red glowing eyes and fangs for a hapless Muslim to move into our midst so we can cram our evil Western ways into his brain!

You keep on babbling about how you love God, what actions you do to make you claim you love God?

You made me laugh when you said the majority are god feering people, on how did you get come to this conclusion???

Your society says it all, really. I mean do you really want me to give examples to you how your society is???

I do not read the thread? Maybe you didn't realize that I was wondering about why living in a Western country could be considered "a form of throwing one's self into destruction". I have heard, read, and been told over and over about how evil the West is and I'm tired of it. We are not a bunch of Godless barbarians out to warp innocent Muslim minds! What would prompt a person to even think that living in the West could "throw one's self into destruction"?

It's interesting Abu Dujanah that you think you know everything about my society and you laugh. This "All Knowing" is what causes so many misunderstandings. I live here. I grew up here. I know that there is so much more to my society then just what is seen through the media. By "media" I mean all the outlets: internet, movies, television, music, magazines, etc. The media is obsessed with the godless activities of a small portion of my society. What you see is only a tiny slice of the pie. There are so many more wonderful God-loving modest people here: Christians, Muslims, and Jews alike. Living in a Western society will not destroy anyone. The only way to destroy one's self is to get involved in immoral living - and that can be found in ANY society, not just mine.

naseeha asks, "can you advise me on living in a western country..."? The answer is simple: just like in any country, Western or non-Western, avoid all immorality and sin. It's no different if you live in the West. If you fall into immorality and sin it's your own fault, not the fault of the country you live in!
