Mash aAllah Star, I think she made a good explanation without accusing any special race of following bida`a

amma just focus on dua for all Muslims to see the correct path, struggle hard, the road of da`wa is not carpeted with flowers.

May Allah help us, u, all Muslims to see the correct as correct and follow, and see the wrong as wrong and avoid

Salaamu Alaykum,

yeah sister I can see how you feel about that happening in your house and although this is not the best practice. My family would not do khatmal Qur'aan but we have been invited to a couple for people getting a new house or getting a new business and they have these gatherings for people to come and read Qur'aan and then pray for the bussiness or house. If you study Islaamic studies and shareeah( a family member of mine did), there is some evidence that this is okay, to do khatmal Qur'aan because if you read Qur'aan in your dua's, it has a more chance of being accepted and in Sayyid Sabiq's book fiqhussunnah it is okay.

I dont personally do it, I have gone to gatherings and maybe read some Qur'aan but wiht the intention for myself and I just make dua' for the host's business, house, and even their loved one's who passed away. The stronger opinion(according to minhaaj followers) is that the Qur'aan reading is really for you and does not benefit the dead, so you can read it for yourself or you can read it in your dua' so your dua' is accepted.

Sister Amma, please dont fight your family over this issue, they are simply following another opinion, even if it is not that strong and you think you are right. Don't be rigid as long as they are not doing outright shirk or kufr. There are so many religious people I have come across that are rigid in some things and strict but are the most racist Muslims I have seen. So you have to keep things in prespective and not look down upon others because of their understanding and always consider the possiblity that maybe you could be wrong or both could be right.

Hope this helps.

Yeah some people do bidahs( all different races of Muslim I have seen doing khatams, including arabs) but others committ outright sin, you are from Egypt, have you watched the haraam stuff egyptian people do on television, what excuses them, thier Arabness(the reason why I know is because my neighbor invited me over and she had her television on)? IT is as much a sin as any bida'ah.

Dont get me wrong, I was a salafee and perhaps am now as well but the arrogance and conceitedness of the arabs have really made me cynical of the salafees in general.

SubhanAllah stop this kind of negative generalization, this is the second time you have done so. Its not good ukhti. We as Muslims should have a good opinion of each other.

Dont pick and choose which Shirk, Kufr or Bidah you want to condemn.

Condemn it ALL.............

I see many Muslims picking and choosing when it suits them, such is the level of ignorance spreading among the Ummah.

We know we aint perfect but when we see an evil we must expose it and refute it so that other muslims may be warned of it and its reality.

And Allah knows best.
