To a certain extent I would agree with John here. He raised the question about Mohammad and his young wife, (Aisha ?) which was interesting and drew a long response. I disregard the last part about Jesus Christ because John basically says Christianity is better than Islam, maybe it is, maybe it isn't.

Now, the thing about Mohammad and his young wife, impacts women in Muslim countries throughout the world. For example, the age of consent to marry (with parents consent) until recently was 9, I think it is 14 just now. Effectively this allows young girls to be traded in tribal feudalism issues and no protection from abuse.

One side issue before my question is that Mohammad actually married Aisha when she was 6 but consumated the marriage when she was approximately 9.

I think you will find that Islam is spreading due to a lack of birth control rather than conversion from other religions.

The people who are converting to Islam come from mainly the prison system, e.g. Mike Tyson (a convicted rapist) being the most high profile on e lately. He never had a religion before.

Maybe you are missing the point here. We no longer live in a time (or a place) where it is acceptable to abuse girls by marrying them off to some distant cousin from another zip code when they reach the age of 6 or whatever. What was socially acceptable in biblical times is no longer acceptable now.

Oh I am sure people flit in and out of religion all the time, it is a luxury when you live in a free state . I thought you were trying to imply that people were flocking to Islam because they were rejecting some other religion. I don't believe that to be the case.

Take a look at the indiginous people of Bangladesh, the Hindus. Go research their plight under Islam.
