Zar is Haram but I need to clear few points on what happen in my house!
#1

Salaam Brother and sister , I thought i better start a new topic on Zar , for those of you who don't know Zar is haram in Islam and there is no proof that can be found in the Holy Quran and Any of the Hadiths ,

I am still a learner and i really can't give you any more information on this but what i need to know is , What happen in my own house was it Zar or just Zikkar

before I start explaining what happen I would like to make it clear I myself don't follow any sect ie i don't beleive I am a sunnee ,Wahbee,Sufeee or any other Sect's that do exist , I beleive all mosque are a house of Allah and therefore if you hear the Athan you should attend to it regards less of what sect it might belong. this option is my own option and does not come from any hadiths , in a nut shell beleive in One Allah and follow his messager prophet Muhammad peace and blessing be upon him.

This is what happen

my parent follow this sect that are know as Brav-reee they call them self Sunnee , { can't spell sorry} never the less they orgainise this gathering in my house were this person believe he was from a lineage of the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessing up him. any way cut to the point I basically said in my house Women will sit in a sperate room and men in the other one.

this Person ask his to switch off all lights in the house , so it was completely dark , he basically ask us all to join him in Zakkar , so he started off saiding

Allah oooooooooooooooooo for good 30 to forth times and many other surah was recited

the men were all sit in a circle , I decided to cover my head with a scarf , even thought we were in the dark. he then ask us to image we where dead and when thought all the death process , scaring the hell out of me and making me realize that death could really happen anytime { not that I was not aware of it but you know what i mean} He then made dua to Allah S.W.T asking forgivingnes and basically by the time he finish his dua we all were in tears

What I want to know is , what happen here is this a form of Zar or is this the safe side of Zakkar

As you all know I don't want to go to hell fire and i ask allah to forgive me and all of us if wrong has happen here.

Dear it is all the same, zikker zakkar, it is all the same, since such an act was not done by Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him nor his companions or tabieen, then it is a bida', and each bida' is a misconception and each misconception is in fire. The best thiker is The Holy Quran, reading the true ahadeeth of prophet Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him, going to islam lectures, taking it from those who have the true correct faith, and doing what that guy.... I dont know what to call him says or do is haram, and what proof does he have that he is what he says as being a lineage of the Prophet Muhammad peace and blessing be upon him, and even if he is, so what, Abo Lahab was the Prophets' uncle and he died kafir.

These zikker or zakkar must be stopped, instead listen to The Holy Quran, read it in arabic if u do not know just listen and u will see the difference that u will feel, instead of that fearful sitiuation u will be in, u will feel peace and tranquility, and here are some sites of good reciters, just go through them and listen and do not let others destroy or mess with your belief.

This is for Sheikh Mishary Alafasy, Kuwaity reciter

i am a bit confuse , it could be that I have mis-spell few things here

Zahark or Zarkkah was to be spell as Dihkar and to the best of my knowledge this is a good thing if one was to receite 100 times Allah O Hakbar , 100 time Allamutho lilla , 100 time Bishmailliar and 100 times shoban-illia , then acording to some hadits this is what the prophet did on a regular basis

the Prophet peace and blessing be upon him said , the one who receite the above on the day of Judgement he will rise from his gave with a shining moon on his face , meaning his face will be lit up with noor.

so can I ask you to clarify this to me again are with both on the same wave length ?

as for the lineage of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him , I would totally agree with you. and beside the point to the best of my knowledge all those who were lineage of the Prophet have pass away so there are no bineee or people who claim to be lineage and you have made a vaild point the prophet uncle was a lineage of the prophet and he die as a Kafar.

in a nut shell brother if you have got any hadits that I can refer to then please quote which hadit you are refering to and the page number so I can look it up.

many thanks

Infoseeker is the sect ur referring to barelvi? They have some peculiar practices.

But I wouldnt be as harsh as Radiyah. Recitations of Tasbih, Takbir and Tahmid in group gatherings according to particular formulas may not be found amongst the practice of the Prophet (saw) but I wouldnt go as far as calling it an evil Bid'a. There are numerous examples where companions of the Prophet(saw) initiated new acts, dhikrs, duas etc etc not previously found in the sunna of the Prophet(saw) but were not condemned by him.

Thank you Allah for sending someone to me who can spell for a change

Yes i am referring to barelvi and yes i am talking about the dhikrs , so what you are saying is that doing dhikrs is a form of evil bid'a am I correct in saying this?

as i am rather a bit confuse now brother.

Alsalam a'laykom

Okay now Athkar, this is called athkar Al-Sabah and Al-Masa', u dont need gatherings to do and then at the end burst out crying as you mentioned, yes there is athkar and thikr of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'la according to The Holy book and Sunnah, and nothing else,

here is a total of Dua's that you can ask Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'la for, and they are taken from KITAB and SUNNAH, and those have proof from Hadeeth shareef and the Holy Quran:

And Karbala I am not being harsh, I am trying to show info seeker here the true Dua' according to The Quran and Sunnah,

and I will be back with more insha'Allah for you info seeker. And I am a sister and not brother. And I would like you to show me here daleel of sahabas gathering as infoseeker described in his or her posts.

By the way infoseeker where are you from, this will help me a lot in clearing things for you.

Info seeker, to the best of my knowledge according to your description, this is a sufi sect. They heavily depend on the Prophet's lineage. As for people from this lineage, they are available yes, but they do not have merit over any other Muslim as the Messenger salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam hiself told Fatima Radyallah a`na, work Fatima for I can not be of a merit to Allah for you.

As for the method they practice, let us break it into points:

1. Making Dua in a group is of course recommended, but usually we do this for example during Salat like in Ramadan when the Imam does Dua Qunut after Taraweek.

2. We dont need to impose dramatic effects like turning lights off.

3. Doing dkkir was never practiced in a group by the Messenger salla Allah a`lyhee wa sallam.

4. Yes doing dhikr is of course highly recommended, it is a way to get closer to Allah, to gain rewards, to have your heart polished. But you dont need to do it in this form.

5. Certainly crying after Dua is also good because it means INsh aAllah that the heart is not dead or hardended.

6. Thus, the only time Dua was made in a group is during Qunut, or may be if you have completed reading full quran, you may call whoever is available with u to make the dua.

7. But as to have somone repeat a special dhikr for certain time with lights off, I never read or heared this in Quran or Sunnah.

Infoseeker, other positions when we are recommended to make collective Dua for example is after attending a circle of knowledge, or also after Khutbah of Jumaa, of course you are aware of this. But what I object about is the formula they go for. BTW, were they standing up, hand in hand and swinging from one side to another while doing the dhikr?

Salaam sister Muslimah

its always nice to hear from you , and indeed you have made it even more clear to me then ever before about this type of act

so really in a nut shell

We don't have any proof in the Quran or the hadith , that doing dhikr in a group is valid nor invalid so therefore to avoid evil Bid'a we don't perform this type of act. However what we are saying in this fourm room that doing Dihkr alone , could be done in a dark room after all the prophet peace be upon him use to used oil with rope in a clay dish that lit and give light a bit like candle and he perform his Aisha salaat most likely in this condition and not what we see these days in our modern mosques.

by doing Dihkr alone you are cleaning your heart of sin and bringing your self closer to allah so doing Dihkr is a must for all of us.

I would also like to point this out and it beg's the question that our prohpet use to wake up at night and peform Thuhad pray { sorry can't spell } all night and do dihkr so my question is did he turn the the lights on or was it perform in the Dark?

My dear Brothers and Sister I just wanted to clear few misception about Dihkr perform in a group and in a dark room ,

what I don't want to acheive is a massive debate on different sects of islam.

and may Allah S.W.T guide us in the right path,

I am allahumllia almost completing my English translation of the Quran more on that topic later on. but never the less
